If Evans is in dance around mode and falling down over ankle tackles, maybe keep him on the sideline. He has all the cutback ability physically. What makes guys like him super dangerous is when they use that ability before it's too late and the play is stuffed. Feel and see the flow in the direction of the play and then burn them backside before it's too late. Evans should be getting passes thrown to him in the flats. Swing passes or running ((outs/out and ups)) with a linebacker on him that doesn't have his speed.

Edit: Once again to my prior point. Soften those linebackers and safeties up with that outside threat early. Why is it so hard to run some halfback routes out of this offense? Why cant Higdon and Evans both be used on second and third and longs? Both lined up in the backfield opposite like in a west coast set. If you don't have the threats/receivers to get open down the field, then utilize your mother trucking speed and playmakers at the halfback position. At least try it. For the love of Pete. Pete is my friend that watches games with me but is waning as of late.

New offensive sets are exciting for a player and it keeps you fresh in your mind like you're learning new ways to better your craft by being used at different spots in formation. His role is being expanded to help his team move forward. You want to be that player that is made to feel like you are important to the success of the team and are a leader to take on these new roles.

I think everyone is happy for Higdon.  He looked good - and the line looked ok too (although again I am waiting for us to be able to run 3x for a first down to close out a game).  All I see is a thought that it might be nice to see more of Walker.  I liked his run and also was surprised that was his only carry of the day.  And the thread about Dillon didn't seem like a complaint, as much as simply reporting a fact, one which at least I thought it was interesting and something I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise.  That said, I'm glad no one created a thread about Damien Harris.

This is one of the things driving me nuts about this current state of program. Why isn't Kareem playing more? Why did Samuels blow his redshirt for one snap against Cincinnati (I think it was?) Likewise was McCray hurt late fall camp and lingered into game 1 against Florida. I get it Jim isn't a "doctor", but it's such a lame damn reason to not talk about these things. Couple with lame reporters and their always lame questioning.

Higdon

Isaac

Evans

Walker

Samuels

Taylor

it's not a bad group

QB play is our current issue

Instead of waiting on a recruit like Hoke did with Morris, Harbaugh brought in O'Korn and Rudock to try to stem the tide until he could develop a QB

QB play will eventually get here, and when it does it will be grand

As funny as this comment is, you do realize that many QBs actually take several years to fully develop and transition from high school to the college game. Right? Like that it’s not normal to come in and be effective as a freshman or even a redshirt freshman? In a lot of cases even a redshirt sophomore?

Hard to predict how a player will look after one play, a few plays or one game

Take John O'Korn for example.

Looked like a seasoned pro during Purdue Game.

Then...well you know the rest of the story

Evans is an electric playmaker in space but doesn't seem to do well in the smaller holes our line is opening up. Jet sweeps, screens, out routes-we can't gameplay a way to get the ball in his hands one on one Five yards downfield?

You guys need a mental and emotional health exam. The dude had ONE carry! Yeah, it was a solid 9 yards. Yes, he made a nice little bounce out to the edge with decent acceleration. But it was ONE carry, where he didn’t have to do THAT much.

He might have more in the tank, but to beg for more of him off ONE carry!? The board keeps falling into a mental and emotional oblivion

Singular sample size. But it was a nice bounce outside showing quickness and elusiveness. I think we’ll see more of him as the season goes on. But KH is the man right now.

I respect Higdon's north south style. Evans tries to bounce plays far too often and ends up going sideways or backwards. He really needs to work on that.

I'm sorry, but I feel like I'm the only person who sees the RB stable as being really inconsistent. Higdon was great yesterday, but the first three games was Isaac looking like the clear #1 before backsliding. Evans looked like the #1 guy against Purdue but has once again fallen behind the other guys.

Hidgon has been around enough and gotten enough carries that I am skeptical that all of the sudden he is going to emerge into a workhorse the rest of the season. He can be great, but so can Evans or Isaac. The issue is none of them seems to sustain their hot hand for more than 2-3 games.

Another idea from the interwebs that the coaches have never thought about. Because the coaches determine how many carries each rb gets by using a random number generator, and not any sort of strategic approach, they might want to adopt your idea.

My two cents, Higdon gets the bulk of your the carries followed by Isaac. Walker and Evans split whatever is left which should only be a handful. Evans is not a feature back.

Put all 4 RB’s and 2 FB’s in the backfield and direct snap it in the general area. Who ever emerges with the ball after the ensuing scrum must then run the ball for a first down. Problem solved!!

Why not more spready stuff with Evans? Jet sweeps, screens, slot and H-Spread stuff. I see no reason to run him between the tackles as much. Give Higdon and Walker the in between the tackles carries.

The coaches will always play our best option at any given position. You people who clamour for the back ups to play more are arrogant and uninformed. You are all idiots. For Christ sakes, Wheatley, Peters, Walker, Okorn, Runyan will all fucking play when they are better than the guy in front of them. You fucking morons honesty think that your limited observations on Saturday have some relevance. Harbaugh has watched thousands of reps and knows exactly who the best guy is. You idiots begged for Okorn! Now you're begging for Peters and apparently Walker. Just shut the fuck up. 90% of the fan base knows nothing about football. Im as die hard a fan as they come. Im a long time season ticket holder and I bleed maize and blue, but I hate this fan base. This down in front,Speight sucks, no more piped in music, I know more than Harbaugh crowd can all go fuck themselves. I apologize for the foul language.
