Minor Injury Update

Mates,

Minor injury update, one-off from a current player.   Both Edwards and Schoon were good-to-go on Saturday if they were needed but held out to keep healthy.   Corum's imaging showed no structural damage, and he should be good-to-go Saturday, also.

Not earth shattering hot tips, but at least it's good news.

On to ohio and the toilet bowl.

In the grand scheme of things, the Illinois game meant nothing, other than keeping hope alive that we could lose to OSU and get in the CFP as a 1 loss team. Win or lose last week, and we're still playing OSU to get to the B1G Championship, and we're still playing the B1G Championship for a spot in the CFP.

If Edwards was healthy he should have dressed just in case Corum gets hurt and you're in a dog fight for your season's life down a TD in the 4th quarter. If he was dressed he should have played.  If he was healthy and didn't dress for a home game...why?  I need answers.

"Healthy" is a relative term. Its clear that Edwards has been working through something for a few weeks and is not at 100%.

He didn't dress against Illinois, so at a minimum they didnt want to risk re-aggravating whatever it is.

Sounds like he'll be available for the Game which is great news, but that doesn't mean that he is 100% healthy by any stretch.

Really hoping Keegan is healthy.  There is a legit difference between having your strength being really good with El-hadi vs it being so strong OSU has to alter their strategy cuz of the surge those 3 in the middle are getting. Keegan was dominant against PSU.

i hope this is good news, but if we didn't need these guys last weekend when we were down in the 4th quarter, when will we need them?

am I right in thinking that if we lost to IL last weekend but still beat OSU, we'd still win the division, go to the B1G CG, and still be a top playoff contender?

like we really could have lost that game without a lot of consequences? or am i wrong on that?

Disagree.  Losing to Illinois would look ugly, yes.  But a win at OSU and in the B1G CG would have UM comfortably in the playoffs - even if USC closes out at 11-1 with a PAC12 CG win.  The win over perennial love affair target and complimentary SEC member OSU would/will carry a lot of weight.

And there's no chance a 2-loss LSU gets in over a 1-loss P5 conf champion, especially with a win over psuedo-SEC member and #2 ranked OSU in the cess pool known as Columbus.

Michigan’s season success rides in no small part on the outcome of the OSU game.

Harbaugh’s reputation rides in no small part on the outcome of the OSU game.

Recruiting efforts for the end of this class and especially the 2024 class ride on the outcome of the OSU game.

maybe not literally for any of those but  it kinda feels that way. Yes we have had amazing seasons the last two years and every win is great. I’ll take them all. But….

Win this one, and the story is Michigan has Ryan Day’s number, we are back to back champs , back to back CFP participants, and Michigan is in the conversation for best programs in the country every year. Lose it and last year can be called a “one-off”, the OSU dominance narrative continues and we are still tier two.

This team said they had 4 goals. beat State, beat OSU, win B1G, and win a national championship. Win or los vs Illinois doesn’t have bearing on any of those. Three to go baby.
