Michigan to Wear All White at Minnesota

Personally I am disappointed every time they wear all white pajamas. The road blue pants are amazing and the road maize pants are classic and look great too. I wish we didn't have white pants at all. Either way Go Blue

Dang it, somehow I embedded a tweet from months ago. Here is the right tweet: https://twitter.com/UMichFootball/status/1710320667537858619?t=FNMqPKR11BmWWqp2JzqSlA&s=19

Thanks. Doing this on mobile was frustrating.

Aaabbbsolutely badasses!
October 6th, 2023 at 12:02 PM ^
I always liked them aesthetically but then didn’t like the vibes/juju from losing a lot of road games in them. After OSU last year, I love them again. Clean look, makes the helmet pop. I like that we rotate the white, maize, & blue pants on the road because they all look excellent with the white jersey.

"... didn’t like the vibes/juju from losing a lot of road games in them."
My feelings exactly, only about the maize pants. ;)
October 6th, 2023 at 12:50 PM ^
I've argued with my friends over this definitely not completely meaningless stat before. The white pants don't have the bad juju, and maize ones do!
Under Harbaugh, record while wearing...
All whites: 21-12
White jersey, maize pants: 2-2
White jersey, blue pants: 4-0 (!!)
Clearly, this is unequivocal proof we should be wearing the blue pants every single away game
October 6th, 2023 at 1:03 PM ^
noo...too small a sample size. more observational field research required and as a fan base we have to consider the overall record in the traditional aways. Over time I predict the results will be totally equivocal.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:24 PM ^
Ugh but they're the ugliest
Also maize pants makes me think of Mac to All. I wonder if their more recent game against PSU would have gone different had they not worn black pants.
EDIT: I don't actually wonder that latter thing
October 7th, 2023 at 11:04 AM ^
I think we have at least three wins with the white jersey, maize pants combo -- PSU 2021, Indiana 2022, and Nebraska 2023.
Anyways, my hatred for the all-whites has subsided after OSU but I still prefer the maize pants. So much history/tradition, and it's a less generic look than the all-whites.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:05 PM ^
Would be interesting to see that combo when it's snowing sometime.
October 6th, 2023 at 2:29 PM ^
.... and they were playing a team of polar bears.
October 6th, 2023 at 10:32 PM ^
Or hospital orderlies.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:06 PM ^
They should do white helmets with blue wings.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:36 PM ^
Dude…
October 6th, 2023 at 4:33 PM ^
He's not being very Dude.
October 6th, 2023 at 6:09 PM ^
Or drop the wings altogether and go with the wolverine logo. Just once! This needs to be the primary logo. Fuck the plain block M.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:36 PM ^
White helmet, maize wings, with that shiny metallic finish.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:42 PM ^
Camo wings. To honor the troops.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:26 PM ^
Pink wings. to honor Barbenheimer
October 6th, 2023 at 1:33 PM ^
This would be the ultimate jump the shark moment in faux patriotism and uniform idiocy. Camouflage the wings that were original added so the qbs could help identify their receivers. It's so absurd I could actually see some marketing exec pushing for it.
October 6th, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
Paint the wings the same color as the helmet and they'll be perfectly camouflaged.
October 6th, 2023 at 6:07 PM ^
Love it
October 7th, 2023 at 1:33 AM ^
Some marketing exec like, i don't know...Dave Brandon?
October 6th, 2023 at 6:06 PM ^
Matte maize helmet and shiny blue wings!!!! We need to become the Oregon of the Big Ten for the recruits.
October 6th, 2023 at 7:10 PM ^
Oregon is the Oregon of the Big Ten.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:42 PM ^
I thought you wanted a block M, or a script Michigan on the helmets?
October 6th, 2023 at 1:34 PM ^
I think this was said in jest? Heresy.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:37 PM ^
Don't give them any ideas. Helmet changes are off limits. After all, we're not Michigan State.
October 6th, 2023 at 4:00 PM ^
Don't pretend the block S helmet doesn't rock, haha.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
Toca el casco y muerte.
October 6th, 2023 at 5:37 PM ^
What's your next suggestion, adding green and red trim to the helmet?!?!
October 6th, 2023 at 12:08 PM ^
My opinion they would look good without the stripes… can’t tell in this pic if they are on there or not.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:35 PM ^
Hmmm, White Stripes might be a thing.
October 6th, 2023 at 9:58 PM ^
No way. I love the all whites and the thick side stripes. Wish they were still our go-to road uniform.
Also, Minnesota should be a protected rivalry in the new B10. Why not? We do have a lot of rivals.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:09 PM ^
Hopefully less stressful than the last time we wore all whites, at night, in MSP
October 6th, 2023 at 12:17 PM ^
I don't blame you for forgetting 2020, but the 2020 game at Minnesota wasn't stressful and was pretty much the only high point of the season.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:21 PM ^
Yes, I have permanently blacked out the 2020 season now that you say that. I truly don't remember anything but beating Minnesota on opening night and feeling like that was a good sign for the season.............
I do also remember MSU landing an annoying number of deep balls on us and that's about all I've retained
October 6th, 2023 at 1:04 PM ^
Did they play in 2020? I cannot recall...
October 6th, 2023 at 1:21 PM ^
Yes it was the season opener. Tens of people packed the Huntington Bank Stadium to see the actual underdog Michigan Wolverines pummel Minnesota. I remember little about it other than somehow it was the Herbie-Fowler crew and it featured a fat-guy touchdown for the defense.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:18 PM ^
Speight's baptism by fire.
That was quietly a pretty crucial game. We'd just lost the MSU game in unbelievable fashion and were 5-2. The season could have unraveled. Instead we ended up reaching 10 wins.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:30 PM ^
Agree. I thought it was over when they hit that long pass, but then the review called it short of the end zone and I stuck it out with my two girls. When we hit that last goal line stand, they were shocked to see me leap in the air in a way I had never done in their presence before or since.
A huge, gutty performance by a building team.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:06 PM ^
Absolutely, clutch clutch drive by Speight after Minny had a blatant helmet to helmet on Rudock that if I recall correctly wasn't even flagged (!!!). Also Minnesota's wide outs made two separate super human catches on that final drive prior to Tracy Clays mismanaging a clock about as badly as anyone I have ever seen, what a play by the defense to bring home the win.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
Also Minnesota's wide outs made two separate super human catches on that final drive
Wasn't one of those a 4th down where the ball touched the ground and moved while being cradled on the sides by the Minnesota receiver? I remember being shocked it was ruled a catch.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:15 PM ^
I was at that game and yes, extremely stressed out until the final seconds ticked off the clock.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
I remember! You came by and said hello.
October 6th, 2023 at 8:07 PM ^
I remember meeting you too, it was definitely much less stressful than that evening's game. :-)
Are you bringing along all your kids this time? IIRC, you brought your two young daughters to their first Brown Jug game back then.
I won't be there tomorrow. Earlier this year I looked into making the trip and considered taking the SS Badger car ferry across Lake Michigan from Ludington to Manitowoc. I now live north of Grand Rapids instead of near St Joseph MI (an extra 1:45 drive time each way via Chicago) , and thought the ride across the big lake might be a relaxing alternative. That idea went down the tubes when the Badger shut down operations a couple months ago due to an accident involving their Ludington vehicle-loading apparatus.
Up until a couple days ago I was still considering the 9 1/2 drive tomorrow, but finally decided against it. Hopefully you and your kid(s) have a fun time and bring home a big Michigan victory tomorrow night!
October 6th, 2023 at 1:44 PM ^
In addition to coming off…that thing that happened on the final play against MSU, Jerry Kill announced the Monday of the game that he would have to step down because of his health problems. As soon as that announcement was made public, you immediately knew that Minnesota was going to play above their abilities for their coach.
Typical that Michigan would be the next opponent when all this went down. It couldn’t have been OSU or Sparty.
October 6th, 2023 at 5:31 PM ^
I’m pretty sure the 2003 version was the most stressful ever
October 6th, 2023 at 12:10 PM ^
Really like the look. Just don’t shart.
