There’s no doubt. If UM would’ve played USC and lost, it would’ve been a disaster for the program. At least now nobody expects UM to beat Bama and if UM keeps it within 40 points then it will be considered a nice moral victory.
December 8th, 2019 at 9:18 PM ^
10-3 looks better than 9-4. I prefer the team that we would probably beat than the team where everyone is content with it being close for a couple quarters.
Who knows, maybe Bama comes out flat. That’s why you play the games. Go Blue
December 8th, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
Better to beat a tire fire than lose any game . . .
December 8th, 2019 at 4:56 PM ^
Yeah I’m totally confident that Michigan is going to be able to make up for Alabama’s superior talent and athleticism by having Jim Harbaugh out coach the man who is the greatest college football coach in history.
December 8th, 2019 at 8:58 PM ^
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Harbaugh, at any point in the last 10 years or so coach a game where I thought “damn he had his guys ready...hell of a game plan.”
December 8th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
Well that will make three straight years getting sent to pound town in the last two games of the season. Wonderful.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:49 PM ^
I just don't understand this perspective. It seems defeatist.
I want to watch Michigan play good teams.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:11 PM ^
Even in a down year, Bama is few notches above “good.”
December 8th, 2019 at 5:59 PM ^
If not for 2 pick 6's thrown by Alabama's backup QB against Auburn, Alabama would be in the top 4 right now.
December 8th, 2019 at 6:37 PM ^
So do I. I’d also like us to, you know, win one of those games on occasion.
December 8th, 2019 at 7:25 PM ^
There’s a difference between going into a game with a “defeatist” attitude and knowing that what you’re about to do is pure suicide.
We have absolutely zero chance of even looking competitive in this game. If you truly think otherwise you’re either entirely delusional or lying through your teeth cause you don’t want to admit reality.
Our offense is okay but not great, and still can’t put up enough points to keep up with elite opponents and our defense might as well put up cardboard cutouts along the front line.
Either one of the biggest miracles in the history of Michigan football takes place or we’re going to get absolutely wrecked by a stampeding herd of massive, crushing Tuscaloosa elephants. Oh, and in case this wasn’t enough, Harbaugh has a TERRIBLE track record so far here at getting his teams ready to play in a bowl games...1-3 folks...1-3. So not only are we more than likely to come out completely uninspired and uninterested in being there, but we’re also facing the greatest football dynasty to ever exist in the history of the game.
This is quite simply a horrible horrible matchup that the powers put together simply for all the money and tv ratings that will be generated. We will be totally outclassed just so some guys at the top can get rich. Whatever happened to bowl matchups against teams that were more or less at the same level??
December 9th, 2019 at 7:59 AM ^
Other than for money and ratings, implying a matchup people actually want to watch, how do bowl pairings get made?
December 8th, 2019 at 3:15 PM ^
Well, shit. I mean, yay!
December 8th, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Najee is running for over 200
December 8th, 2019 at 3:23 PM ^
What about the 2nd half?
December 8th, 2019 at 3:44 PM ^
2nd Qtr fixed that for you
December 8th, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
When they go to running time, it can cut down on the yardage
December 8th, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
I hope we rough him up so bad that we untie both his shoes.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:08 PM ^
Boy, nothing makes 'a statement' like untying shoes!
December 8th, 2019 at 3:18 PM ^
Good Grief...anothr Bowl Loss and another 2 game losing street to end the season....BOOOOO
December 8th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
I totally agree and understand the sentiment on the board. However, at least this game gives us a chance to do something. The other options were: we beat an average team in a bowl we don’t care about, or we lose to an average team in a bowl we don’t care about. We either do something special and get a huge win, or we lose again (which is becoming much less of a surprise).

I'm disappointed as Michigan hasn't been to California in 13 years. The AD also recently cancelled the game with UCLA. I was hoping to watch M in person. Alabama is a great team and it will be a tough game. I'm simply tired of Florida bowls and was hoping for something different.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:22 PM ^
Holiday Bowl against USC would have been a shootout and an enjoyable game...alas
December 8th, 2019 at 4:04 PM ^
Also - I've been to a lot of bowls and the only one that can compare to the experience of the Big House is the Rose Bowl. It's ridiculous how long we haven't been there. It's levels better than other bowls, even Orange, Fiesta, Cotton, etc.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:37 PM ^
You would have to go all the way back before 1935 as the last time we went so long not playing a game in LA/SoCal. We either played in Rose Bowls or played USC at home. I stopped looking past the 1948 Rose Bowl.
I'm with you--disappointed.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:18 PM ^
Let’s fucking go
December 8th, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
Not watching this shitshow.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:22 PM ^
Other than the fans that live down there I can’t imagine people spending their money on going to this.
The travel, lodging, food, tickets etc.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:26 PM ^
I'm going
December 8th, 2019 at 3:34 PM ^
God bless ya.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
Section 131!
December 8th, 2019 at 3:53 PM ^
I can’t imagine other people spending money on the things you do either. So there’s that.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:07 PM ^
Those are definitely comparable price tags and a great comparison. Got him.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:16 PM ^
The things I do? Like go to games or buy gear? Oh wow.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
Or Jack in the boxes and UM footy pajamas and whatever else you buy.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:15 PM ^
Less money on weed and vape and you could afford it too.
December 8th, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
Orlando is fun save for the throngs if Brazilian high school students that flood the parks and make me want to start murdering everyone.
December 8th, 2019 at 10:28 PM ^
Yup. I wasted $1200 on 2012 Michigan/Bama. We left in the third quarter. I’m not doing it again until Michigan can field a competitive team.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:02 PM ^
Orlando is horrific
December 8th, 2019 at 4:39 PM ^
Counterpoint: no it's not
December 8th, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
Could be ugly. Even if Bama’s top NFL prospects sit, their second string of 4 and 5* sophomores and juniors will be competing for starting jobs for next year, as well as Saban being motivated to shut up the whispers of his dynasty being finished.
December 8th, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
This bowl game isn’t meaningless. We need this, badly, to change the narrative of the program.
I hope this matchup excites the players.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
What will a pasting do for the narrative?
December 8th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
A Michigan win? Huge launch into the offseason.
A Michigan loss? Well, isn’t that what everyone is expecting? You can’t please anyone.
December 8th, 2019 at 4:31 PM ^
Less than a pasting from a worse team like pretty much any other opponent we could have got. We lose, well no shit, it’s fucking Alabama. No one even expects Michigan to compete in this game.
December 8th, 2019 at 9:11 PM ^
Nothing. Just another log on the Harbaugh is overmatched and overpaid fire.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:12 PM ^
I would think it would.
December 8th, 2019 at 5:55 PM ^
to change the narrative of the program.
........... what?
December 8th, 2019 at 3:20 PM ^
Bama -29
lol
