Michigan Oregon basketball game thread

I suspect some of us will need score updates while watching Georgia Alabama football?

And, that didn’t last — Oregon makes a basket to retake the lead and Michigan uses its timeout.  And I’m not sure who I’m doing play-by-play for since I think the people on the thread are all watching this game at this point. :) 83-81 Oregon, 40 seconds left, Michigan ball.  You get the feeling they need to find a way to win this on this next set of possessions.

Without not one but 2 of their better players.  We just suck and the poor play and mistakes make it worse.  Another year missing the tournament in March.  Decisions to make come April.

Stunningly stupid. God damn. Get the fuck out of here Juwan, embarrassment of a program. Michigan should not be below the NCAA tournament bar ever but here we are.

Another close loss, pathetic. It's a trend under Howard at this point, not just luck. You need to move on because the program has fallen off a cliff.

And, in the ultimate “you’ve got to be kidding me” ending, Oregon eschews not only its timeout but also any offense for the last 15 seconds of the game, then throws up a 32-footer for the win, which naturally is nothing but net.  Ridiculous.

Damn, you just expect to have to guard a college guy 30 feet from the basket with 5 seconds left. I'd let him take that wannabe Steph shot every game. He hit it, though. smh

Why would Dug not leave after this year?  Probably to small for the NBA but he could transfer to a better team

How is this team going to be better next year?

I can’t remember watching a less athletic player than Will Tschetter. How anyone thought he was anything more than a MAC level player is inconceivable. On defense he might as well be wearing a jersey that says “attack here.” He can’t jump, he can’t defend, he can’t move his feet. If he has to play because of Tarris’s FT woes, at least try to do some offense/defense switching with him. I honestly have never seen a worse defender or rebounder.

The turnaround in like 3 years is amazing. Coming out of COVID in March 2021, Juwan Howard had Michigan as a #1 seed in the tournament, made the Elite 8, and was recruiting like Duke and Kentucky. A lot of people wanted Harbaugh fired.

Now? Juwan is the one on the hot seat (2 straight missed tourneys is pretty hard to swallow unless you're Tommy Amaker) and Harbaugh is the one who's built a juggernaut (outside of 1 bad loss to TCU).

It is time for a coaching change.  It seems like this coaching staff chokes in any close games down the stretch.  It happened way too much last year and again this year.
