Michigan Oregon basketball game thread
I suspect some of us will need score updates while watching Georgia Alabama football?

Play some fucking defense
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:19 PM ^
appreciate the updates, guys

38-35 Oregon at halftime. Michigan has more offensive rebounds than Oregon but Oregon’s made theirs count down the stretch. :(
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:22 PM ^
Jesus. Two offensive rebounds given up to a team that has two bigs out injured.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:22 PM ^
Just awful, almost unwatchable basketball.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:23 PM ^
TWill just just doesn't play smart sometimes. Why not throw that out top, play for the last shot?
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
Most of the time you mean...he gets something in his head that he is going to do and sticks with it...no matter what
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:23 PM ^
So sick of the same thing every game. Giving up terrible offensive rebounds and what seems like ~10 turnovers a half. If we get out of our own way this is a really solid club.
Love how Burnett's shot looks

double post

This team lacks good coaching. They are undisciplined and have no identity. They have athletic players with talent who seem confused and hamstrung against every opponent that isn't physically inferior. Obligatory "I miss Beilein"
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
It can take time to create that "identity" or rhythm with all these new pieces. If rather them find their rhythm in 2024 than 2023. Having said that... beat the Ducks!
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:32 PM ^
I will instead be watching the Michigan game live and recording the Bama game so I can avoid commercials. Of all weekends that my wife and I need to be quarantining, this is an ideal one! :)
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:32 PM ^
Just an observation and I may be totally wrong, but since Juwan came back it seems the offense is posting up with Tarris more than they did the first few games. Seems to bog down the flow a ton. The free flowing, shoot in rhythm offense of the first few games seems gone. Maybe its opponent, maybe its film on the new guys, but everything feels clunky on both ends of the floor the last 5 games
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:36 PM ^
They seem to be playing slightly better defense. Their 3 point shot sucks, which is further proof that those first couple games were just hot shooting and this what they really are shooting wise.
Turnovers are an issue, but they're still getting good looks and the zone isn't giving them that many issues. It's great to have Llewellyn back so Dug can get breathers. Hopefully as he gets back into the groove he can take more of those minutes and initiate the offense more.
Overall, they look like a mediocre team playing another mediocre team.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:43 PM ^
Holy shit, Dug! He’s gone full Spike Albrecht.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:44 PM ^
Michigan on fire from 3 to start the second half, but a lack of defense is keeping them from pulling away. Michigan 50, Oregon 47 at the under-16, Michigan ball.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:49 PM ^
Man Dug might be the best PG in the conference this season.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
Stop leaving them open
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
Man they just cannot miss from 3. 7/8 and we are only down 1 with all the turnovers keep pounding away
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
It would be nice if Oregon wasn’t shooting 88% from 3.
We also need to stop getting dunked on by Oregon Stu Douglass.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
The defense is atrocious. It's been an issue multiple years in a row now, so I have to think it's just a Howard thing. The same way how Iowa can't play a lick of defense.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
There should be no excuse with this roster
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
Defense optional
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:52 PM ^
Michigan bball defense=ok state football defense
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:52 PM ^
unc wilmington taking the mildcats to the shed at least right now. Go Blue! Just tuning in. come see the duck
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
Michigan goes cold and gives up a run to Oregon on the other end. Oregon now 7/8 from 3, including 3/3 in the second half. Michigan calls timeout with Oregon up 55-52, 12:38 remaining.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
Watching this team on the defensive end makes my eyes bleed
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
Oregon has 2 bigs out and you get dunked on/over by a 6'3" white guy? Great defense, guys.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
Every time I turn it to this game for a few moments all I see is terrible defense and a lack of fundamentals. Something that is becoming a trend now under Howard. Need to start having a discussion about his future if this continues all season. This team on paper does not have bad individual level defensive talent, zero excuse for how poor it is right now collectively.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
And now the under-12, Michigan cuts it to 55-54 Oregon, Michigan ball out of bounds after the time out.
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
It is so damb refreshing watching Dug shoot free throws!
December 2nd, 2023 at 4:59 PM ^
Tarris has completely regressed. Talent still there though.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:04 PM ^
calling it tickytack yet Dug got hammered there and nothing
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:05 PM ^
That was the softest and-1 I've ever seen
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:07 PM ^
Right?! Hands straight up, jumping straight up (if at all), and even then there was almost no contact
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:06 PM ^
Tschetter is an absolute sieve on defense and just can't make up for it enough on offense. not good enough for this level
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:08 PM ^
You could say he is rancid.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:14 PM ^
He is terrible..
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:07 PM ^
Playing hot potato with the ball the past two minutes.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:07 PM ^
Oregon surges to a 62-59 lead at the under-8. Officiating starting to look very strange — a couple of no-call maulings by Oregon, and a ticky-tack and-one against Tschetter the other way.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:09 PM ^
Stop the hard hedges, force the weak side defender to rotate early for help, go over the high ball screens and tag. Just watch the 2018 team defense, it's not rocket science!
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:15 PM ^
Taking Dug off the floor at this point in the game does not seem smart.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:15 PM ^
Speaking of turnovers Nkamhoua has been an absolute turnover machine. It's a 50/50 chance he turns it over when he dribbles
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
In their 3 losses, he has 11 turnovers and 3 so far in this one.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:15 PM ^
Our D may be bad, but the O is completely effed, no flow, no nothing, dribble around and do something, Juwan used to run some nice sets, gone out the window
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:18 PM ^
Final TV timeout, Oregon up 69-64 but Michigan going to the line to shoot 3. Oregon’s hands-on defense has been derailing Michigan’s offensive sets, and Oregon’s gotten just enough on the other end to stay ahead. Still anybody’s game, but time is running out — just less than 4 minutes left in regulation.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:18 PM ^
Out rebounding them by 12, hitting more 3s, but 14 turnovers is just a killer. They're wasting this insane Dug performance.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:24 PM ^
Also “hitting more 3s” is less impressive considering we’ve shot twice as many. 8-12 is a lot better than 10-24, and other than Dug we are 4-15.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
Fox got both photos wrong on that graphic. Impressive.
December 2nd, 2023 at 5:21 PM ^
I don’t know who FOX just put on that graphic for Oregon but it definitely wasn’t white-as-a-ghost Brennan Rigsby.
