Kilgore tweeted out the offer and it was reported by Allen Trieu. It's rare to see Michigan offer a JUCO, but makes sense considering the position. I don't know much about JUCO rankings but he's currently unranked out of Kilgore JC in Texas. His other notable offers seem to be Ole Miss and Maryland.

We had Myles Sims and Ben St Juste in 2017 and 2018 who were both high 4 stars and had some decent guys in 2019 in DJ Turner and Jalen Perry. We've recruited decently well recently, but obviously Sims and St Juste did not turn out well

Washington is one of those players that was just too good to keep. He was a converted QB in the H.S. Class of 2015 and got passed by David Long and Lavert Hill, both true CBs, who were in the next class. I'm sure a fresh start at a new school seemed preferable to fighting Brandon Watson and Ambry Thomas for snaps and hoping that you'd get a crack at a starting job.

Good. This is something that Michigan could do better with. There are a lot of CC kids who are worthy of consideration to play at UM.

That’s a problem academically as well. The juco transfer to UC (cal and UCLA included) set up was so much better than Michigan’s. In fact, it’s easier and simpler to transfer to cal tech or Harvard from a CC than it is to Michigan.

It’s really something Michigan could do better at.

It is super easy to transfer to Uofm from cc. I and many other students have done it. Only way it would be a problem Is if you took joke classes your entire CC career...which some football players may Be doing I suppose.

But I LOVE recruiting a few JUCO players here and there. Especially if we are going to continue to refuse to bag, we need every advantage we can get.

Are we even allowed to take JUCO kids?

I mean, I know the NCAA allows it, but based on how rare it is in Ann Arbor, I just assumed the administration had a blanket ban on accepting all JUCO transfers.

It's mostly an academics issue and that won't change. We can be sure that they got his transcripts before throwing out an offer.

It's tougher for any transfer to get past Michigan admissions than recruits out of HS. Most football players that go the JUCO route out of HS do so because of academic issues and are unlikely to be recruitable  to Michigan. They just won't earn enough transferable credits.

Howard didn't even have a recruiting profile in HS, so he may have gone to JUCO for football reasons and his academics are fine. Michigan does take JUCOs in baseball frequently.
