LFG!!!
EDIT - Original title incredibly misleading and potentially incendiary. Please read the policy and discuss as you see fit for now. - LSA

Good.

Sounds like a big middle finger sent to medical staff that have been working the front lines these past 17 Months
August 18th, 2021 at 4:16 PM ^
Seeing this and concluding "U-M is implementing Policy X, it is obvious they don't give one damn about the medical workers of the world and U-M is giving them a big old middle finger" strikes me as a bit bombastic.

My error was not originally taking the OP as a gaslighting tool.
August 18th, 2021 at 5:44 PM ^
Only you know the truth, I simply hope you read the link to the policy (which was always there, regardless of the thread's original title) before concluding "U-M hates medical workers."
August 18th, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
As a front lines medical worker for the last 17+ months I personally do not feel this way at all.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:56 PM ^
I can certainly assure you that you're in the minority pov then if this post was initially accurate.
August 18th, 2021 at 6:03 PM ^
How can you can certainly assure me you know all the opinions of all my fellow co-workers? Either I missed a "middle finger" poll at work and the results leaked or...

Ok jackass
August 18th, 2021 at 3:45 PM ^
Read a little deeper, no face coverings outside but you better carry one with you if you plan on using a restroom or go into any of the indoor shops or concession areas.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
Correct. Additionally it states the policy is subject to change, so if there was a large wave of cases, they could revise the policy to include masks outdoors. As of today this feels like a reasonable position because who knows what the future holds for different points during the next year. I highly doubt they would limit attendance this year as they likely need the income.
August 18th, 2021 at 7:54 PM ^
There is some sign that the daily case number might be peaking in Michigan (rolling seven day average) so hopefully in three weeks it will be less worrisome, not more.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:55 PM ^
i mean...can you think of a time in your life when you've needed a face mask more than in a stadium restroom?
August 18th, 2021 at 7:54 PM ^
At the old Tigers' Stadium troughs I wished I had a blindfold as well as a mask.
August 18th, 2021 at 8:02 PM ^
Haha! So true
August 18th, 2021 at 8:38 PM ^
Those things haunt me to this day...MIS had the same thing.
August 19th, 2021 at 12:43 AM ^
The Cup Series is at MIS on Sunday, I hope Kevin Harvick can pick up his first win of 2021.

Person B: this is a bad decision]

Me in pretty much all covid related threads:

Add in religion and politics and this is me towards all of these topics.
August 18th, 2021 at 3:47 PM ^
Yet... I hope it stays that way! But it's has been a fluid situation since covid hit. Here's to hoping we can attend every game this season without pause!
August 18th, 2021 at 3:47 PM ^
the title is slightly inaccurate
- The indoor face covering requirement applies to all indoor spaces, including restrooms, locker rooms, press boxes, operational booths, etc., regardless of vaccination status.
- Fans will be encouraged to wear face coverings outdoors.
- For the safety of our guests and our staff, working staff will be required to wear a face covering in all indoor areas of Michigan Stadium. In addition, all concessions workers (indoors and outdoors) will be required to wear a face covering.

This is a much more useful post (and better policy). Mods should edit the title.
August 18th, 2021 at 5:10 PM ^
This all seems very reasonable at this point in time.
I’ll bring two masks, one for my nose and mouth, the other to shield my eyes.
August 18th, 2021 at 5:11 PM ^
If you had written the summary, the reaction would have been very different.
August 18th, 2021 at 5:41 PM ^
Workers should be wearing N95. Not sure how wearing a surgical mask really helps.
August 18th, 2021 at 9:20 PM ^
Wearing a secured N95 in 80 degree weather/sun is not workable.
Suggest you wear one for 4-5 hours straight and let me know your comfort level.
Can tell you what wearing one for a 12 hr shift does.
Most people would not last for an hour in one.
August 19th, 2021 at 12:30 PM ^
If you're wearing a mask on your face outside, this is when you should realize that you should have stayed home.
August 19th, 2021 at 8:37 PM ^
Meh outside is one thing. Outside amongst 100k other people, well, that is a bit different; it's not the worst idea to mask though probably, yes, not necessary.
August 18th, 2021 at 3:48 PM ^
Thread gets locked due to Covid argument breaking out in 3.....2.......1......
August 18th, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
I am against Covid-19. I don't care if that starts an argument or not.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:03 PM ^
Bold statement.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:09 PM ^
gawd. i don't know why these threads always lapse into this. it's really discouraging.
August 18th, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
I’m not sure is is something to celebrate just yet. I can’t wait to be rid of masks, but the timing seems a bit odd.
August 18th, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
Agree. I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing a mask as I'm spooning the fat dude in front and behind me.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:10 PM ^
Lol, good luck with that!
August 18th, 2021 at 4:55 PM ^
WOW, he is that big!
August 18th, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
At least the stadium seats are far enough a part. Should be fine......
August 18th, 2021 at 4:00 PM ^
Just make sure to keep one with you if you plan on heading to the restroom.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:05 PM ^
RABBLE!!!!
August 18th, 2021 at 4:06 PM ^
This will end well.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:19 PM ^
This doesn't seem right
August 18th, 2021 at 4:25 PM ^
Will be interesting to see how this goes. Not that anyone asked, but here is my POV as someone who went to a big event recently. I was dragged to the Garth concert in KC at Arrowhead. Like 80k people, freaking packed. Not a huge fan, but had field seats just a few rows from the stage so I was a bit excited. I was more excited as this was the first "big" event I'd been to since covid. We have done a few things here and there, but nothing like this. Honestly, it wasn't great. Thankfully, we had great seats on an end and could spread out quite a bit being on the field, but I still was pretty uncomfortable the whole time. I couldn't imagine being up in the seats smashed next to and being within 3 feet of 20 people. We would have def left way early had we not been on the field. We are vaxed by the way, but it was still pretty uncomfortable being around that many people. Maybe it was just because it was the first time in a while, but who knows. Both of us regretted going and thankfully have been good so far. I'm hoping to head to Lincoln this year for the UM game, but that thought is still making me really think about whether or not I want to be around 80k screaming people and not have the option to spread out like I did at the concert.
August 18th, 2021 at 5:04 PM ^
Do you know if this turned out to be a super spreader event? Info like that would be helpful for this type of discussion. Otherwise, we're all just stating our political side's talking points repeatedly.
August 18th, 2021 at 5:10 PM ^
I do not know. I do know that MO, especially rural areas has a very low vax rate. I can not confirm this as I do not have access to the data, but my guess is that several people from rural MO went to the Garth Brooks concert.
August 18th, 2021 at 7:40 PM ^
Not a superspreader....only biker and republican events are superspreaders!
August 18th, 2021 at 7:26 PM ^
Well I'm sure you weren't/aren't not the only uncomfortable one, Garth just cancelled the rest of his tour.
I would have embedded the tweet but for some reason, I'm banned in doing so?
August 18th, 2021 at 4:33 PM ^
Superspreadtastic.
August 18th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
If they want me to wear a mask, I'll wear a mask, if it makes other people feel comfortable. I hate the damn things but they aren't a problem. The real question is what is a mask going to do if SOMEONE CHOOSES to go hang out with 100k people? If a person is vaccinated, then they should be just fine. So get vaccinated and stop worrying about other people who choose to think differently than you. PSA: I SUPPORT EVERYONE GETTING VACCINATED
August 18th, 2021 at 6:00 PM ^
If it weren’t for the small and inconvenient fact that if enough of those that think differently get covid, they overwhelm an important and limited commodity, medical services, in the form of both ER space and ICU space, I would agree with you wholeheartedly.
Unfortunately, as we are seeing in too many places, unvaccinated folks have chosen to exercise their right to significantly increase their chances of needing emergency care impacting the health of everyone in their communities.
