Michigan Fan Psychological Profile Questions
Mates,
I have been tasked with trying to ascertain the psychological profile of Michigan fans. In order to do that a team of internationally recognized experts has put together a very short series of questions which delves deeply into the core psychological attributes of the Michigan fans answering said questions. These questions were vetted by an equally recognized board of examiners and are here presented for your responses. They are as follows:
1. What team/school is your second favorite college team?
2. What is your favorite TV series?
3. What is your favorite genre of music?
4. Crunchy peanut butter or creamy?
5. *Ginger or Mary Ann? (control question to verify identity as some on here have already answered this one)
The results will be summarized and discussed. There may be follow up questions. Deal with it.

2. Small Wonder
3. Anything with a washboard and a jug.
4. Olestra laden peanut product.
5. Bea Arthur
That little girl was so creepy. Loved that show.
Tasked? Who is the organization trying to collect this information about the Michigan fanbase? Is it for some new marketing campaign designed to squeeze even more dollars from an already over-monetized college tradition? Or perhaps it is something more sinister... a scheme by a rival fanbase to try to sow divisiveness & dissent amongst the Michigan faithful (and truly, we need no help with this - we have proven quite capable of performing this action ourselves)?
It’s possible I might have made some of that up….
1. OSU’s opponent that week
2. Castle
3. Country
4. Creamy
5. Mary Ann
1. University of Georgia (daughter)
2. LOST
3. R&B specifically Funk
4. I hate peanut butter (don’t judge me)

Totally understand re #4. That crap almost killed my kid, but I just can’t give it up.
1. First answer "second favorites are not allowed"....begrudging second answer "Air Force"
2. The Drew Carey show (yes I get the Ohio irony)
3. 70's Progressive rock
4. Crunchy
5. my wife over either
What username does your wife go by on this board?
Heck yeah 70s progressive rock! Took my dad to see Genesis last November at the LCA and was beyond pumped that they played ‘I know what I like (in your wardrobe) since it’s my dad’s favorite Genesis song.
I am a much bigger fan of the Peter Gabriel era Genesis so would have enjoyed that too. I saw some videos from the Genesis tour and was really saddened by Phil Collins (who was at one time one of the top 5 rock drummers ever) walking with a cane and sitting for the entire show.
Steve Hackett was touring and having seen that show he does a fantastic job with the Genesis material. He already did a US leg but will be near Toronto in December. Not sure you're up for that but I can pretty much guarantee your dad would LOVE that show if he is a fan of early Genesis.
I would definitely love to see that show. Weirdly, my dad is a fan of middle Genesis. He really likes 'Selling England by the Pound' through 'And Then There Were Three'. He might be the only person in Genesis fandom who is like that. I, on the other hand, like both the Peter Gabriel era and the Phil Collins era equally (which is also a bit of an anomaly I suppose).
I'd go back to Foxtrot (just one album earlier and it has Suppers Ready which is really just such an exceptional track) and probably drop out after Abacab. But that era is prime Hackett era and he (Hackett) really seems to care about that era of music from the band; which Peter never really references and from which Phil Collins and co seemed to have evolved away.
That’s a good point about prime Hackett era. But one of my dad’s other favorites is ‘scenes from a night’s dream’ from ‘and then there were three’, and obviously there’s no Hackett on that album. Man I wish that album didn’t have such subpar production. It’s like they thought, wouldn’t it be cool if almost every song sounded like it was recorded underwater?
1. When one has to think hard about this-guess I do not have a second favorite. But I do not hate any other team/school either.
2. "In the Heat of the Night"...bless you Carroll O'Connor for taking on the world. Perry Mason, Jeopardy, Mash, Andy of Mayberry
3. Classical, Bluegrass, Jazz, Country, 60s-70s rock n roll
4. Creamy
5. Mary Ann
But I do not hate any other team/school either.
You don't hate OSU, MSU, or Notre Dame? Are you Buddhist? A Jedi Knight?
Someone watches a lot of METV.
The new or old version of Perry Mason?
- None. I root for the Michigan directional schools when they aren't playing Michigan
- Right now it's Better Call Saul. All time it's either Breaking Bad or BCS.
- Indie Rock
- Creamy
- I don't know I haven't seen Gilligan's Island in 20 years. Give me a young Aubrey Hepburn
I don't understand how as a Michigan fan you could even consider the BCS as your favorite TV series.
It was not a good spin-off from the original series Bowl Games.
Most seasons it wasn't even relevant to Michigan fans.
After 16 lackluster seasons it was replaced by a new spin-off called CFP. After 7 irrelevant seasons, CFP finally got interesting in season 8 only to have the premier episode ruined in the first half.
I don't understand why people watch so much junk TV.
I don’t have one - Michigan is 1 through infinity.
The Office.
Alternative Rock.
Crunchy.
Mary Ann.
Edit: I probably really don’t have a “favorite” TV show. There are 20 or so that could qualify as tied for first in my mind.
Replying to myself...
XM, have you noticed that most people who picked Cruncy prefer Mary Ann...and most who have selected Creamy prefer Ginger?
That could make for an interesting data subset...and possibly one requiring further study/review.
i think reasonable minds can definitely differ over the G v. MA thing.
however, the number of 'creamy' responses is alarming, and may be the prime reason our fan base is so spastic. either that, or the 'creamy' people have bad teeth.
yes. further study. more questions.
1) Would have to go with the Chips, because I've had family living in Mt Pleasant, one of my nephews got a full-ride music scholly there, and its a really nice little town.
2) Handmaid's Tale (with it's similarity to a certain political party); For All Mankind (just a fun alt-future drama); Master Chef Jr (the kids are fun to watch and have not a single ounce of the animosity that fills the adult version of the show)
3) Classic rock, followed not very closely by actual classical music (used to be country, but that's just a wannabe hillbilly singing pop, anymore)
4) Creamy
5) Mary Ann
My answers are unassailable. If you assail them, understand that you are wrong.
1. Involves a complicated semi subjective algorithm generally related to whoever happens to be playing Ohio State, Notre Dame or Michigan State that week.
2. TVs are for something other than watching Michigan sports?
3. Varies, but more frequently 80s/90s alternative than others
4. Prefer peanuts to peanut butter
5. Mary Ann
1. Iowa Hawkeyes

3. Alternative Rock
4. Creamy
5. Mary Ann
1. Central Michigan
2. The Mandalorian
3. Heavy Metal
4. Crunchy
5. Mary Ann

- Creamy
- Tough, for an affair Ginger, but for GF / wife Mary Ann
1. Minnesota
2. Resident Alien (current). Mad Men (past)
3. Bluegrass
4. Creamy
5. Ginger
Feel free to combine my answers to 4 and 5.
Oh my…
Please sell me on Resident Alien. I really enjoy Alan Tudyk, but am hesitant to pull the trigger and buy the previous seasons because I’m afraid I might not love it.
1. Central Michigan then Boston College
2. British mysteries (especially the older ones: Agatha Christie's Poirot, Miss Marple, Inspector Frost, Inspector Morse...) Can't choose just one.
3. Classic Rock and Punk
4. Creamy. Only creamy. If I wanted crunchy I'd just eat some peanuts.
5. Ménage à trois? (What the hell, we're on an island, right?)
For #5 I assume you're referring to Mary Ann and Mrs. Howell?
Actually I think he means the Howells....
Q # 5, for you and a number of others...
If it’s wrong, then I don’t wanna be right!
As for British mysteries, I've been rewatching Lovejoy recently. I almost forgot how funny that should could be while it was trying to do something serious, if that makes sense.
Somehow I’ve never seen that one. But I do like the quirky mysteries/characters. Going to have to check it out now.
