Michigan is a DC Away From Bring Elite

Harbaugh has made changes across the board and it’s time to ride Brown into retirement. If Michigan had a good DC then they would compete for a playoff spot

Don’t forget we need a bunch more five star recruits. They are a small fraction of the equation. ?

Right now the game is 3 (5 total but 2 are part of the game) breakdowns by this staff.

1 - Awful play calling on 1st & 2nd before 3rd and long Shea fumbles. Why do they run Shea twice? Can’t give downs away.

2 - The punt offsides is dumbest thing ever. Why were we not in punt protect on 4-4!?!?! Like why?!?! Still fuming.

3 - Again awful play calling on goal situation. 2nd down to Jackson was a giveaway. Dude is our fast guy, field is too small to have him take a snap to short side of field. Again wasted down.

Yes, Shea fumble and DPJ drop bad, but comes with football. Above 3 all mental mistakes by staff.

Yeah right. We knew Michigan's D line would have trouble against a power run game even before the season started. That's what we saw against Wisconsin and what we see today. If they sell out on the run they will get burned badly.

Glad Brown’s defense bailed out the offense in most every other game this season.

The line of scrimmage is being dominated by OSU. Not sure how Brown can combat the fact that the players just aren’t up to the task. I love Our players, but they’re just outmatches. It’s a recruiting issue.

Replace DC with DT. If we had a Mo Hurst, we would be winning right now.... or at least it would be a closer. We do not have the elite dline, especially against an elite 2x OG/C.

The OSU defense isn't doing that well either.  If not for mistakes the game would be tied.  That is where your ire should be.

It really comes down to them pushing us around. Coaching can't fix that. We've got a functional Oline, great WRs, a QB playing great, decent LBs CBs and edge rushers ... But the interior defensive line is cripplingly bad. Just like the Wisconsin game, the interior DL takes away any change of stopping the opponent unless we get lucky with turnovers.

Hopefully you can tell us how Durkin shut OSU down and we need to go back to him.  Elite offenses require elite players to stop them.  I agree it should be better, but better players on the interior D Line and more depth in the secondary are what we need to shut OSU down, not better schemes.

Totally agree.  Haven't even looked at the comments but I know someone has posted stats showing how great DB is. Someone please take out the games against shitty teams so we can see how good offenses shred us.

LB’s are getting abused.

Ryan Glasgow wouldn’t make OSU’s scout team.  Hudson might not either.  McGrone not getting it done today.

DL obviously undersized and not talented.  Hard to believe we hid them most of the year.

Ohio State 28, Michigan 13 at half.

This is going pretty much as I expected.

Good spirited play by UM, but a lot of the same bad luck and mental errors against a football team that will make you pay for it dearly.

Elite programs aren't vastly different from above-average programs like ours, the difference is a matter of inches, really. Elite teams generally play mistake-free, bring in the best recruiting classes, and score a ton of points to offset any potential mistakes that do happen. We make too many mistakes, about half of our bad luck is self inflicted, we leave a lot of points on the field, and recruit well, but elite programs do recruit better than us. Maybe next year in our new system our offense will keep improving. Maybe we'll buck this 5 year trend and start making fewer mistakes. Our recruiting has been great, but other teams have been recruiting a little better. Those differences add up translated across 4 quarters, and 12 games.

i'm not sure why you're being negged, at least on the substance of your point.  bottom line: having to score 60 points to be in a game is a failure on the defense.  We're outmanned, no doubt about that.  We're not that outmanned though.

This is dumb. We can’t stop them up front. Our DTs are undersized and ill-suited for the job, and we’ve known this all year. Everything else that has happened is a direct consequence of having to compensate for our DTs.

Recruiting matters. Stars matter.

Michigan is two recruiting classes from being elite.  Need more elite players on the DL and 1-2 more near elite CBs.

And UM needs a psychologist to get them over the mental hump.

DC, OC, HC, KFC, BC, MAC, CC, It won't matter, this "rivalry" is over. Think similar to the ND/Navy series. We're Navy now, and even they've had better recent success than Michigan. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
