We KILLED them in the one game with them that truly matters! Just when they thought they owned this rivalry - we rip their hearts out to go to the Frozen Four! Nazar with the best pass of the season - so freaking amazing!
That pass is gonna be on Michigan hockey highlights for the next 30 years. Almost as good as Legg's "Michigan goal" from 1996.

Sometimes you let...
....little brother...
....
and then you take it righhhhhht back. frozen four bitches!!!!
Ending score was great, but that game was way closer than "killed them". After that absolutely awful PK leading to MSU tying the game, I was freaked out.
yes and no. sparty had puck-luck for the first two periods - we hit the cross bar, they get a cheap penalty leading to a goal in the first, we bounce a clearing puck to a break-away off the ref's skate, etc. sparty isn't a garbage team, but they had the wind at their back most of the game.
Sparty may not be a garbage team, but they are garbage.
Maybe, but they beat us to a LOT of 50/50 pucks for a majority of the first two periods and seemed to out skate us for a large portion of the game. I thought the key was Michigan played within themselves, when msu tied it 2-2 then we got the third, they had worked so hard to tie it up that was a blow, once we scored 12 seconds late it was done
They might have lost it already before the 3rd goal. There were 3 defenders in the crease and Duke made them all look lazy, an awful play by their defense there.
That pass though.
that pass was sick. and if it wasn't acrobatic enough, he slid it through a moving window that might have been all of 12" wide. beautiful.
Felt like that scene on the movie Semi-Pro where they see an alley oop for the first time.

Was so good that I had see the replay to realize what had transpired.
MSU won the BIG reg season and tourney, yet, the saddest of all trombones.
Those BIG banner raises are gonna make sad FGs feel embarrassed for them.
The most played rivalry in college hockey history is between these two rivals - yet somehow, this was the first time they have met in the NCAA tournament. We sure made a mark with this one!
Totally!
Beating North Dakota and MSU in the same hockey tournament is definitely a special, special season.
Beating BC will just add to the mystique…
Imagine Denver in a final? This is like that Rick McMahon meme where it just keeps escalating.
You mean Vince McMahon? I was searching for a Rick Mahorn meme because that would be awesome. Bad Boys 4 life!
"Simply lovely," as a certain Dutch Formula 1 driver might say.
I'm kinda speechless.
a 4-goal third period against a very good goalie will do that to a guy.
Beat Denver! I don't like Denver hockey, ever since the 90's Avs.
i think we play BC?
And then Denver in the final. This guy is a game ahead of you.
if i'm being candid, most folks are at least a game ahead of me....
Playing Denver would be fun as the two teams with 9 titles but I do prefer the Boston teams for aesthetics. Pfft Denver. Johnny Come Latelies.
I just wanted to say that pass was insane.
I’ve seen through-the legs drop passes. I don’t remember the last time I saw a guy put the puck through his own legs to his own stick. The hand-eye coordination there is unreal.
Survive and advance. Isn’t this fun? :)
I think I've seen more goals scored that way than assists. Insane
Here's Sergei Fedorov on a similar play:
Here's one from Clarke MacArthur:
I'm sure there have been others, but a Google search for "through the legs assist nhl" currently shows Nazar's play as the third result, so I'm pretty confident in stating that it's in rare air indeed. :)
i just wanted to second that opinion.
Barzo was just what we needed him to be. Can’t fault him on either goal — first a deflection and likely a high stick. Second was what I hope will be the last time we send everyone on the ice to cover the puck.
he played very well. technical with his angles and coming out. strong on covering the puck when needed. the kid played great.
I like him better playing out at edge of crease. Seems more confident out there. Caught a lot of good sharp-angle shots tonight.
Barzo has been up and down all year, not just game to game, but within games. He makes some incredible saves then will give up a soft goal. Kudos to this kid for his performance tonight. He outplayed Augustine and he deserves to be the number 1 star tonight, not many goalies save either of those shots. Given the stage, and how he’s been all year, I’d argue this was his best game.
DJ BARZO 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏DJ BARZO👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 DJ BARZO👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
2 more… LFG!!!!!!!!
So I can breathe now?
way to go!
Two third period explosions in a row after so many implosions. Who would have thought?
I mean, Michigan had a history of catching fire late, but this has been really improbable. They were on the wrong side of the bubble a few weeks ago.
And now look at us. In St. Paul at the X, just like every other FF at the X. And this year there’s really nothing to lose. No all-time draft class, no Hobey, no expectations, and a fanbase still basking in the ultimate triumph.
It’s plinko. They might even win!
And running MSU off the ice to get there is the fourth-best regional final win ever without question.
so are you going to the frozen four, my friend?
Want to, really badly. Can I afford to do it, is the question. Added an item to the prayer list tonight.

We did not look very solid in the first two periods but the game tying goal by Staee seemed to spark a fire. On to a tough Frozen Four in 2 weeks. Go Blue!
Would love to take down BC next weekend - and if we play like we did tonight, I think we can.
Third time's a charm. Go Blue!
More important than basketball IMO
What a great weekend of hockey. Let’s hope it continues in the Frozen Four! Go Blue!
