This seems like a strangely competitive opponent for a pre-season scrimmage...  Or maybe I'm just remembering the good DePaul from my youth'en days of yesteryore?

Yes, you are definitely taking a trip down memory lane when evoking thoughts of DePaul. They have two winning seasons in the past 15 years and haven't made the NCAA Tournament since 2004. Last season they were dead last in Big East play (2-13).

I thought the same thing about hockey's season opening exhibition against Bowling Green. Typically we play the USNTDP and schools like Windsor as exhibitions; BG is a decent D-I program that was a former conference opponent back in the CCHA days. Definitely not what I'd expect for an exhibition, but I'll certainly take it.

In addition to the spelling, I completely understand that DePaul and DePauw universities are two separate entities. That said, I will forever consider them the same or a variation of each other in my vastly limited knowledge of the scholarly world.

I think it’s a great way to start the season with a quality opponent for your guys to maybe get smacked in the mouth a little without any official fanfare. It’ll let them know what they need to work on and where their strengths are early on. I like it!

It’s at DePaul, which means a trip to Chicago. I don’t know if that is an active recruiting period or not but there may be a chance for a two-for-one trip.

Title does not say it all.  How about:

Where is it?

When is tip off?

Will fans be able to attend?

If so, how much are tickets and how do you get them?

It is a closed-door scrimmage.  (MSU has been doing these for years fwiw)

There will be no access, tickets, or TV coverage — mayyyybe you will get some short video clips on the socials and you definitely will get some enticing insider info on who scored what and who looked good etc.

He is a 4-star - Ty Rogers (Rodgers?) - and he will not be a part of Michigan’s class barring some really unforeseen circumstances.

Scuttlebutt was that he sees himself and Jett filling a very similar role and thus was reluctant to choose M.  - Gregg Glenn took whatever spot would have been available for Ty.

Seconded. I've seen a couple of DePaul games there. Parking isn't too painful and the location is CTA-friendly.

It would be nicer to have a small arena in Lincoln Park (good luck trying to construct something there), but it sure beats having to go out to Rosemont.

It would've been really cool for the students if they could've built something on the site of the old Children's Memorial Hospital when they moved to Streeterville. Traffic would've been ridiculous getting there, but what a perfect location it could have been (assuming the site was big enough for a multi-use sports arena). There's even a parking garage across the street.

Last time I really remember them being any good was when Quentin Richardson and Bobby Simmons were there, and that was like 20 years ago.

You'd think they'd be better at sports, as they are actually the largest Catholic university in the country and, being based in Chicago, there is an abundance of decent basketball talent.

Really wish this game was going to be televised. My two alma maters! Did my undergrad at U of M and went to grad school at DePaul.

I have a special place in my heart for DePaul but I bleed Maize and Blue.

We also have the scrimmage against Wayne State on Nov. 5th. That will give us 4 games under our belts for when we play Seton Hall in the Gavitt Games. I think this team is going to be as prepared as possible for when we open up Big Ten play.
