I rarely post anymore but logged in just to +1 this. JH is a great coach and has an eye for finding players and coaches who are excellent on the football side. However at least for coaches he’s terrible on the HR side, the question of whether the coach (despite being good at football) is a decent or reliable person. Not that different than Mike Shanahan or numerous others being fantastic coaches and mediocre at best GMs. Let JH do what he’s good at and give him some damn support on what he isn’t.

Logged in to say even though it’s the lowest of the group it’s great to see Grant Newsome get his career going as a full coach. I always had the sense apropos of only interviews and message board banter that he will be a long-time successful coach if he stays in football.
Both can be true about the double standard applied to JH and JH should not have swung.
No matter the explanation that comes out eventually this incident will now follow JH and that is sad because I really like JH.
Most publications aren’t universally wrong on facts or wrong on analysis. But some are much better than others in getting scoops and rumors right. Some are much better than others interpreting the facts (hello stretchgate).
If moderators don’t want to play whack-a-mole with certain publications, I don’t blame them.

A bubble approach may make sense for P5 football or top-level basketball. In other words, the revenue sports at the places making real revenue. Not really anywhere else.
Let me help out here. The “everyone murders” statement was humorous because Pryor was trying to defend Michael Vick but was less than helpful to Michael Vick and himself. Somebody actually getting critically hurt—and possibly dying—is never funny ever. Because one is a poorly worded statement and one involves human suffering and possibly death.
This isn’t common knowledge? There is usually a standard for athletes; at some schools it is the NCAA minimum (a sliding scale based on GPA and test scores) to qualify. At others, it is somewhere between what an average student would need and the minimum.
And yes, the same is true even in the Ivy League—even in non-revenue sports.
Look on the bright side: At least the offense won’t look sideways at the defense (or vice versa) because a great effort on one side of the ball was wasted. Unity—huzzah!!!
I don’t disagree at all but I think there is something to the kabuki theater of a reporter asking an obvious question like that. D’anantonionio’s offseason titanic deck chair shuffling deserves to be rehashed, especially when he gets bad results. That’s true for any coach that makes strange decisions.
I don’t know...Mattison said he only came back to Michigan for Brady Hoke, that he only stayed because he respected Harbaugh so much. He seems to be somebody who likes to be superlative about his current situation.
It looks like Rutgers tried the Illinois approach of taking a second tier OSU position coach and getting mediocre results. Maybe Rutgers can follow Phase II of the Illinois plan and hire Todd Bowles?
Haven’t been able to watch the game but just saw the halftime score of OSU-Nebraska. For those watching: I trust that means Nebraska has been out-hitting OSU?
