Bring on X and Ibi. Those dudes have some swag I'm not sure anyone on this team has. Get Wagner in the weight room find some super athletic rim protector to walk on. Those dudes are everywhere, just go to a park in NYC and offer a walk-on spot. That's all they need to do is dunk, set screens and block shots. EASY PEEZY

Super pumped for Jordan gear as well. Maybe now caris won't get hurt by the terrible quality of cushion in his shoes....oh wait, he gone.

Either way, lots to look forward to, sort of.

X and Ibi, let's go young fellas.

It was a long year but there was definitely improvement. Yeah excuses are lame but there were mitigating circumstances to the season as a whole (two key injuries already well known to everyone). The guys were tired but played Notre Dame tough to the very end. The loss hurts but I do think we lived up to expectations given what has taken place this year. I do think it wouldn't hurt for Beilein to evaluate the state of the program (he said in that pre game strategy preview how important defense is; we have room to improve there) but again the team was competitive against a good team. That was my biggest complaint this year that our team was obliterated against good teams and at least we won a game in the Tourney and played a good team to the very end of the game. This program will be back. Go Blue and good night.

...after Beilein had finally figured out that he was their only hope for semi-reliable interior offense.  I'm not sure there's any excuse for Michigan's total inability to get open/score from the perimeter in the 2nd half, but the complete lack of any kind of reliable interior offensive presence cost them at least 10 pts in the second half.  Not sure if we win if the refs let Wagner play, but he was our only hope.  Does anyone on this board believe that Donnal would have made any of the shots he missed if he had to take them all over again -- unless his shot is completely uncontested he loses his composure and simply throws something up towards the basket.

It was clear that Beilein figured out that Wagner was our only hope through his substitution pattern in the last minute or two.

I can see this team being better next year, but unless Wagner turns into a beast on the defensive end, their interior defense and rebounding will still suck.

There's absolutely no balance on this team and only one decent athlete taller than 6' 5" -- Wagner.  And no one coming in who will give us anything approximating dynamic interior play.

If next year's recruiting class doesn't deliver by the time they are juniors, it's time for Beilein to retire.

First off, we're tied for 13th with some big names and NCAA powerhouse Houston. So even if we only use that as a barometer, we are barely top 15. Second, Arkansas and Oklahoma State have more final four appearances, so I guess they have better programs than us. Arkansas. And Okie State. Great point though

Wherever you put Michigan basketball all time, you have to take into account that they basically set the program on fire for 15 years after the Fab Five.  They put no emphasis on making basketball better, no money into facilities, nothing.

The potential absolutely IS there for us to have a consistently top 20ish program, if not better.  That's the important thing.  We don't have to settle based on what freaking Ellerbe did.  We have the brand, the fan and alumni base, and a shitload of money.  There's no excuse for not building a powerhouse in Ann Arbor.  JB has restored respectability to the program; the next coach ought to be another top level guy and we ought to start making deep tournament runs with some consistency again.

JB has great offensive sets and does other things great but my biggest pet peeve is in his personel decisions. Cutting Bielfeldt for nobody in return, not recruiting the state's biggest recruit in quite a while, constantly putting in guys like Dakich instead of playing Walton and Maar 40 minutes in your biggest games, cutting ties with Josh Langford when he was recruiting Battle, auto bench etc.

Next year should be much better. We now know Wagner can and will be a HUGE factor for them. He is going to be very good. Irvin simply will have to change the way he plays or he should not play. His constant baseline drives ruin the offense. He does make some clutch shots from time to time but he is becoming a liability. The team has work to do but I can't see why they won't be a tourney team next year and should be an improved team over this year. Coach B can't be entirely to blame for the second half. Wagner's charge was a huge momentum shift and really screwed up the second half. ND made some good adjustments at halftime and also did not miss in the 2nd half.

1. This team will never win anything with Irvin starting.

2. Regarding the usability of the site, it's pretty clear that Brian has no interest in fixing it, which is why anyone who criticizes the functionality on a regular basis gets banned.  It's been bad for 6 months, and it's just getting worse.
