MGOBLOG Hawt Take contest, 1st Tri-annual post-Rutgers

Submitted by WesternWolverine96 on September 29th, 2019 at 10:09 PM

Welcome to the 1st bi-weekly, tri-annual MGOBLOG post Rutgers game “Hawt Take contest!”

 Here are the categories:

  • Write a one sentence newspaper headline to sum it up
  • X number of best things you saw
  • X number of worst things you saw
  • How optimistic/ pessimistic you are on a scale of 0 to 10 and why?
  • What gives you reason for hope or BPONE
  • Other topics

Here are the rules:

  • Everyone gets a vote.  Even you MSU and OSU trolls lurking.
  • If you reply, you’re entered
  • Everyone will down and up vote your take.  You can vote on all of them or just the ones you want.  Unfortunately we won’t have access to the overall responses each will get, but we’ll be a able to see the overall net approval.
  • When you upvote or downvote this post.  You are voting on the overall concept.  You are not voting on my example, and yes my personal hawt take.  I remain above your reproach.
  • Winner is he or she who has the most plus votes.

Why am I posting this?

  • Look at the board.  It’s dead up in this hizzy.
  • All we did last week is bicker and throw poop at each other.
  • except you frito burrito, that was a bad ass post on lack of jorts in the program, entitled “The real Problem:  Lack of Mobility”  You are still and will always be the prophet of fray.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My hot takes (I would never spell my take that way you fool):

Headliner:

“Harbaugh Hope? Michigan demonstrates focus and improvement in bye week scrimmage vs Rutgers.”

Best things I saw

  • Michael Dwunfour- he made a difference
  • Uche!
  • We  continue to get healthier
  • McGrone is a beast
  • Freshman Hill likes to hit!
  • Shea played better
  • Matt Millen wasn’t so bad this time.  Good for him!

Worst things

  • Glasgow.  I want so much for him to be the next Kovacks, but it just aint happening.  He’ll probably be a great coach someday.
  • Dammit- OSU sure looks good so far.
  • Our offense and defensive lines just aren’t there yet.  But Dwumfour was a big improvement defensively.  Offensive line did well in pass pro- but not so well in short running situations.
  • Shea still isn’t who he needs to be in order to beat OSU.  I speculate with no knowledge that he’s still recovering from his injury.  Ah yea, that's so hot right there.
  • Rutgers

Opto- scale

I am a 7 on the optimism scale this week.  (came into the year at 9.5) .  We will beat Iowa and it’s a great opportunity to harden the team and gain confidence.  Schedule sets up pretty nicely.  Probably lose at PSU, but there is a revenge factor for the Notre Dame game at home.  Not looking good to beat OSU, but there is a lot of time left and we have some talent.  “The game” is at home.  Iowa game can really influence my number, but Rutgers did actually influence it more than I thought it would.  It’s Rutgers, sure, but my optimism went up anyway.  If we beat OSU it’s going to be because the offense improves noticeably each week.  Thumbs up to Gattis on the sideline.  I won’t forget about that Wisconsin game for a long time and try to keep remembering that OSU beat us soundly last year.  But I can’t wait for Iowa!

Other:

Funniest thing that happened during the game:

My OSU fan buddy from work texted me this pic with the following question:

As a reward for beating you guys so badly, Did Harbaugh have to give every set of Khakies he owns to Wisconsin?

"Ash to ashes: Michigan romps 52-0, sends Rutgers coach packing."

Best thing I saw: Joe Milton looking good!

Worst thing I saw: Blake Griffin in jorts!

I'm an 8/10. Patterson still seems unsure of himself running this offense, but everyone else seemed to perk up from having Gattis on the sideline.

Honestly, I think Michigan had its collective manhood questioned in Madison, and that may have been for the best. I think we smoke Iowa, nip PSU, and take out Notre Dame in an all-time back and forth classic.

We won't beat OSU, but I still think 10 wins and a New Year's Day bowl are realistic.

Vladdie Putin headlines we'd like to see.

Putin rides shirtless in Tallahassee. Plants flaming arrow at midfield.

Coaches poll ranks Rutgers first. Putin accused of hacking election.

Nick Saban doesn't exist. Actually Vladimir Putin in disguise.

Jennifer Lawrence announces she is pregnant with Putin's love child.

New endowment announced today in Ann Arbor. Board of Regents now to be known as the Vladimir Putin Family Board of Regents.

They've got Iowa, Penn St at Penn St in the White Out Game, and Notre Dame all in the next month. Ask me a month from now what I think of the team. I can't gauge anything from trucking Rutgers.

And my favorite recruit since Jim Harbaugh has been to Michigan, Cam McGrone, was finally named a starter, and played great.

"Harbaugh lit a fire, Rutger burned to Ash."

Best things:

Cam McGrone and Dax Hill need to be on the field, and DPJ needs more targets - dude is electric with the ball!  With all the balls going to Collins, Black, and DPJ, Bell stole the show because he was largely uncovered - Space!!!

Worst things:

Wangler unable to keep up; running game needs some direction

Opto: 8.  Seems like the entire program ate some crow and didn't like the taste of it.  Good.  Now they need to get some corn on the fire, it goes well with Rutger.  Keep building on what worked, a little at a time.  The death machine will arrive this year, but it's going to need some more time to build up.

"Michigan Wipes Its Ass With Rutgers; Fans Learn Nothing From Disgusting Display".

Best: Scoring effortlessly on offense.

Worst: Remembered we were playing Rutgers.

Optimism scale: 3... was a 3 before Rutgers as well. I'll check back around 3:30pm Saturday with an update.

Reason for BPONE: MTSU, Army, Wisconsin.

The Lions actually play like a real team, and the thread about their game falls off the front page for threads like THIS?! (And to be fair, others of equally dubious merit.) Do we need to review the rules about off-season versus in-season content?

Hey, you apparently tried to start this...new tradition. One revolving around a dated spelling of 'hot take' and a lot of honest-to-goodness work, yet marred by your noisily hubristic awarding of upvotes to respondees you liked and snarls to your many haters. New traditions are hard to get started and this attempt didn't work out. You are wise to let it go. Snuggle up with the wife. Forget you ever posted this.
