Match Harbaugh's Fine With Donations to #ChadTough

BUMPED - LSA

A worthy target for the Michigan Money Cannon. Craig from Hoover Street Rag and a few other Michigan outlets and Twitter accounts are attempting this week to raise at least $10,000, to match Harbaugh's fine with a donation to The ChadTough Foundation for DIPG research. This is a great cause with previous support from the Wolverine community. They're already at over $1,800 after 15 hours.

Link to donate.

EDIT: A couple things. About $2700 has been donated in the less than 90 minutes since this post. Obviously, it didn't all come from here, but still impressive. This place is awesome.

Also, I'd like to be very clear that I am not really at all involved in the fundraising, nor was it my idea. I just gave it the signal boost to the MGoBoards. Your gratitude belongs to Craig Barker at Hoover Street Rag (@cdbarker, @hooverstreet), as well as Maize and Go Blue (@maizeandgoblue), @SupportUofM, and Maize and Blue Nation (@maizebluenation). They are the masterminds. I'm just this guy, you know?

Took a major hit this weekend. If this is still up when I get paid tomorrow, I'm on it! Great idea!

EDIT: Got some family members to agree to donate money instead of getting me gifts.

I've donated to Chadd Tough in the past and will in the future (with employer matching), but what does this have to do with Hatbaugh's fine? Will this change anything related to the game?

Again, I love the charity and do donate.

Peace to Lloyd and his family. Im putting my baby girl down to sleep as I type this.

1). Turning a negative into a positive.  Showing that we believe Harbaugh speaking the truth was not worthy of a fine.  Getting us out of our wallowing in self-pity and towards something productive, especially on Giving Tuesday.

2). Once we reach $10k, the plan is to challenge the Big Ten to match the donation with an additional $10k

3): Make this a conversation piece during the Big Ten championship game this Saturday to help raise additional support for The ChadTough Foundation.

If nothing else, we raise some money for a good cause.  I can live with that.

Nice. Do you think that ABC will mention our donations? I'm assuming Brian has a connection or maybe the Chad Tough guys do?

Again? I think the cause is amazing, have and will continue to donate, bit I just don't understand the connection to the fine.

Go Blue and prayers for the Carr family!

Maybe you're overthinking this? The people who started this fundraiser decided to make the connection: B1G fined Harbaugh $10K therefore we're gonna try and raise $10K for a good cause. It's a good thing to do and a nice number to shoot for.

Hopefully this generates a lot of good publicity and goes viral, causing them to talk about it... there's no inside connection.

They just posted an update:

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all who have donated so far. We never doubted that the Michigan family would hit the $10k mark; we just didn't expect it to happen this fast. We're keeping the fundraiser open until Saturday night to coincide with the Big Ten Championship Game. We're also issuing a formal challenge to the Big Ten to match the $10k donation. Keep donating, keep sharing, keep spreading the word. Go Blue!

Can we bump this to the top of the Board or make it a diary?

Let's turn the idiocy of the B1G referees and the B1G commissioner's office into a positive and also support Coach H.  It is Giving Tuesday, after all.

Please donate what you can.  :)

nearly $8k already. Me thinks it could go much higher! Nice to be able to vent/bitch and still do something that not only helps but continues the venting/bitching until something is resolved. Someone needs to get this donation story out to public. I have e-mailed Bruce Drennan. He's a blowhard Ohio sports talk show host and will e-mail him this as well.

$9,300.  Would love to see if they had a timeline with donations per minute.  I am guessing there was a huge spike after this post was made.  Think there were $5,000 in donations made over the last 3-4 hours, $4,400 in the first 14-15 hours
