Country song "Tennessee orange" by a UGA alum who now lives in Nashville and fell for a Tennessee boy ... Was absolute trash. GameDay gets harder to watch every year.

I went to public school…

I went to public school through 3rd grade, then switched over to a catholic school from 4th-12th grades. 4th grade through 8th grade was co-ed and then I went to an All Boys Jesuit High School (Xavier High School … Go Knights!)

Interaction with girls/women
I do not believe it has had a negative impact on me as it pertains to interaction with women. It did, however, limit my network of girls I knew that were my age. That said, I did get to meet girls through joint activities like school dances, track & field, school plays, as well as through my friends from grade school, my neighborhood etc. BTW, my sister who was one grade ahead went to an all girls school.

If I could go back in time, I would go to the same school and do it all again- in fact, I wish I could! I recently reconnected with my classmates (class of 2002) and they all said the same. At the time, we all wished it was co-ed, but by the time we graduated we understood the experience.

Being middle class around super wealthy people
To attempt an answer to your question about being middle class around wealthy people: In high school, I was probably below middle class, and most kids in my school were middle class+, and I didn't really notice (perhaps because we all had the same dress code and all of that.) But, more importantly, if your son doesn’t experience it in high school, he will certainly experience it in college, grad school or future employment. Another way to look at it is that he will have built a relationship with people who are wealthy. Proximity to people outside your "class" I think can be a great thing- in either direction. It could lead to opportunities, internships, and jobs down the line.

Good luck to you and your son & keep us posted on how it all ends up! I have a feeling he'll do great either way.

Were all the factories…

Were all the factories actually shut down?

Professors Thoms is done…

Professors Thoms is done unfortunately. But Triona's is one bar that has a pretty solid crowd. Went there for Penn state.

I just don't trust that 2…

I just don't trust that 2 big ten teams would get in. I can see them putting in a 2 loss alabama, or if Bama beats Georgia in the SEC championship, then a 1-loss Georgia gets in over a 1-loss MSU/Iowa.

I think Coach Jimmy Lake…

I think Coach Jimmy Lake finally figured out how to post to this board.

May it go on the record that…

May it go on the record that Big Boutros is predicting a playoff berth and that Dan Villari IS in fact Tua part tua.

Not only that, but he's personally guaranteeing that our quarterbacks will actually be healthy for the game. He's made personal sacrifices to the football gods so that it may be so. Real legend.

I'm just excited to get rid…

I'm just excited to get rid of the Wilpons honestly. Good riddance.

I will miss Rosario/Gimenez, but excited for Lindor. Exciting times in Queens. #LFGM

I really hope he launches…

I really hope he launches his own company, I would subscribe.

One of my all-time favorite bits is the creation of a character called "Pipo" who calls into the Paul Finebaum show, and gets into it with him prior to an LSU-Miami game in 2018.

Pipo is a made up caricature played by Billy Gil (guy in the yellow hat in the background of this video)

That's an interesting point,…

That's an interesting point, i don't know what's taking so long, but it's frustrating.

After last night, I'm convinced that if given the choice to improve one unit, it would be the offense. I'd rather our offense be as productive as OUs, OSU, or Bama, than close the gap on Defense.

After publicly stating he…

After publicly stating he was the guy for next year. If this happened here we'd be complaining that it took this long, that this is sloppy decision making by the AD.

That said this off-season has been frustrating as all hell so far.

Wasn't he playing with a…

Wasn't he playing with a cast on his hand this year?

Joe Milton on the mound for the baseball team.

I debated this one as well,…

I debated this one as well, and I think I lean going for 1- depending on opponent. I think schiano likely goes for the tie but then again who knows. If we were playing ohio state though, and the circumstances were the same, I'd say go for 2 and make it mathematically highly unlikely they can come back from a 2 possession game with just a couple minutes left.

Chris Peterson would be a…

Chris Peterson would be a fantastic hire... He turned Washington around, has beaten big teams, handles his in-state rival...

What concerns me is stress and anxiety caused him to step down. Maybe he needed to reset, or maybe Michigan might not be a great place for him.

Maybe Stephen M. Ross can…

Maybe Stephen M. Ross can take a page out of the George Steinbrenner book and just hire Ryan Day away from OSU so that he can be the next coach of the Miami Dolphins.

Hope to see Lloyd Brady.

Hope to see Lloyd Brady.

Is there a reason why the…

Is there a reason why the announcement is happening now? Timing feels unnecessary, unless I'm missing something? (Not hating, very happy for the young man and wish him the best. I just was curious as to what benefits, if any, there are with announcing this now.)

to add, Chantel Jennings…

to add, Chantel Jennings just announced today she's back with The Athletic covering Women's Hoops, WNBA.

Three biggest hits

I've had…

Three biggest hits

  • I've had AAPL & AMZN (and MSFT) for a couple of years, so these have been the top performers.
  • I got in on Peloton at 36, and it's at 64 now. (Pretty small position, i just put down what one would pay for a bike to see how long it would take to earn a bike's value.)
  • I usually don't try to time the market, but I bought and sold LMND the same week because that got too volatile.

Biggest regret - I bought SQ at about 100, and took the free fall all the way down to 39 bucks, only to make it back to 90 and take that loss. It's now at $128.

Future - not really sure but I plan to keep AAPL, AMZN, and MSFT for the long haul. If/when Airbnb goes public i'll definitely take a long position on that one too.

I live in Seattle and there…

I live in Seattle and there are a ton of fellow Michigan alumni here. I have a feeling we could have done our part to make it a friendly atmosphere for Michigan.  Sucks. I moved out here 5 years ago and had this date circled the entire time.

The Friday night move would…

The Friday night move would be to head over to Eastside Catholic to cheer on JT Tuimoloau.

We can't let him go to Ohio State.

Thank you for posting this, listening now! Go Blue!

#1 and #2 for sure.  Any…

#1 and #2 for sure.  Any tackle should require a wrap up (or an attempt at one)- this would make football so much safer. I say this anytime safety and football come up.

My biggest regret (in athletics) is not playing rugby sooner.

Ohio State hasn't had a good…

Ohio State hasn't had a good pro quarterback since Shane Falco, yet they get elite recruits at the position.

College football is better…

College football is better when Notre Dame and Michigan play each other. But I agree with folks on this thread who say the current system doesn't reward us for playing this game.

But even if it did, the ND athletic department seems to be the one who constantly opts out, so with that in mind, ideally Michigan would fill that void the next four years with PAC opponents like Washington (check) add USC or Stanford. Or even UCLA (so we can finally play in the Rose Bowl.)

Nice try Mork!

Nice try Mork!

I think in the current BETA…

I think in the current BETA version you get about 20 hours. I have AT&T/DirecTV Now, and I actually have liked it. I was a directv customer then realized I was overpaying by way too much, then i switched to this. I've been debating YouTubeTV vs this, and when I last looked, I went with DirecTV because:

  1. I liked the guide/navigation (haven't seen YouTubeTV recently)
  2. Deal on HBO (that basically made it competitively priced with YouTubeTV)
  3.  At the time, they didn't play nicely with firestick, and DirecTV gave me a free one. (I don't think this is an issue any longer)

'O let do it' is a meme/song/saying that's been used on MGoBlog since 2010 (at least). Demar Dorsey anyone?

Hopefully the proceeds of that designed t-shirt go to his college tuition (even if not at UT.)

I agree 100%, so my strategy when possible is to roll through with 3 friends, order a full a pie (I recommend  the fresh mozzarrella pie, anything else is being irresponsible).

A part of me wants to see…

A part of me wants to see this, but unfortunately it's probably one of the most important non-conf schedule games for Michigan and any school not in the SEC hoping to make the playoff. For me, outside of ND @ Michigan, it's:

1. ND @ Georgia (Should probably root for...errr…. not be annoyed if... ND wins)

2. LSU @ Texas (Could argue to root for LSU here.)

3. Miami @ Florida (at Camping World Stadium?! Personally, rooting for Miami (YTM))

There's just something about…

There's just something about beating the Irish that is extra satisfying. I'm not sure if it's their false belief that they have a uniquely storied history. You could make the same argument about us, but I think (I think?) we've been pretty humbled. I don't know that their fans (and AD) show us as much respect as we do them. It's time to for some payback.

Also, I recall hearing from folks in the program that ND was a great test to see how nationally ready Michigan was. I don't see how the timing of this game is beneficial at all to Michigan, but nothing we can do about that.

To be honest, if Mickey…

To be honest, if Mickey Callaway can't get it together in New York, I wouldn't mind take a shot with Bakich :-)

Right on cue, Yoenis…

Right on cue, Yoenis Cespedes fractures his ankle.

I agree with you-…

I agree with you- financially, I can see what the Mets were trying to do, and honestly, it isn't the end of the world year-in, year-out, but that annual, negative publicity is the kind of stuff that really compounds (no pun intended). It's not about Bobby Bo... it really is just a reminder of failed attempts of the past.. Contracts like:

  1. Oliver Perez ( 3 year, $36M) - He didn't even throw a pitch his last season w/ the Mets... they just paid him $12M to finish his contract and release him.
  2. Kaz Matsui (3 years $20M)
  3. Jason Bay (4 years $66M)
  4. Mo Vaughn - via trade (166 games, $47M ....effectively for 29 home runs.)

I could only imagine the signs if MLB had a "ESPN Game Day" equivalent.

100% agree with all of the…

100% agree with all of the above. I'm a lifelong Mets fan who once took pride in the Michigan connection. However, in reality, the Wilpons are only outdone by James Dolan of the NY Knicks.

They make ridiculous decisions like moving the AAA team to Las Vegas. It's ridiculous because there have been times where they couldn't call up players because they couldn't get them to New York in time. (Although they finally moved them to Syracuse.)

There are also embarassments like Bobby Bonilla day, that really just make you scratch your head.

They also live in the shadow of the Yankees*. New York is a ridiculous city when it comes to the media, and the egos (of fans and New Yorkers). Pair that with the pressure of being out-done by your most hated rival which happens to be the most successful franchise in baseball, and arguably all of American sports. And the whole frugal "money ball" thing is ridiculous. Certainly they shouldn't be wasteful, but you're in a large market, open up the purse to bring in big fish. They did so with Yoenis Cespedes, but that's because they had to. Their team was out performing in 2015 and forced ownership hands.

Yet, Mets fans are still passionate, loyal, and keep coming back for more- and the Wilpons (and the Knicks for that matter) are not held accountable for their performance. Their values just keep rising with TV and content rights. In what world can you put out a bad product for a decade (or more) and increase in value?

I could go on, I really could, but given this is MGoBlog and not AmazinAvenue, I've already gone too far.

*Double-whammy (personally) that Steinbrenner was an OSU alum.

Can you please explain why…

Can you please explain why it looks like it's heading in this direction? It's been 24 hours. and almost no information has been shared other than articles of what options might be on the table. Unfortunately, we don't have enough information but this will be where Warde either earns his salary, or proves himself unworthy.

I think I read he's a Toledo alum. Also on his LinkedIn page.

What are the bullet points... i also see Andrew Dakich tagged somehow- super eager to read about that.

I love that he answers e-mails even while on vacation.

(ducks)

But seriously, classy dude. I'm still a believer- i do agree that there needs to be flexibility in the offensive game plan to push the tempo a bit, but i'm still a believer.

Now that I'm going …

Now that I'm going (literally on the plane about to take off) I'm freaking pumped. Let's Go Blue!!

I think we have more to gain…

I think we have more to gain than we have to lose with an ND loss (e.g. an actual spot in the playoffs... potential for a 2 or 3 seed at that- which could be valuable in the likely event Bama is #1.)

I do think the committee will penalize ND for not being in a conference and not playing in a championship game, along with a late season loss.

That said, call me crazy but i'd love a rematch of ND vs Michigan. I truly believe Michigan is the better team.

Fair- i missed that "coach…

Fair- i missed that "coach or coordinator" disclaimer.

Amen!
