Maryland Snowflakes - The Offense

An improvement from last year, where we only scored 17 points at home before bulldozing OSU in Columbus

How sad is it that we have arguably the most talented QB in the school's history and he's not even going to get close to breaking the single season record for passing yards and might not even break the single season record for passing TDs. 

I feel like calling the game and being the head coach is too much for Moore, maybe too much for most people. Haven't been too many people who do both successfully. 

I think having JJ's legs intentionally held out of the game makes him a less elite QB overall. He's better when he's got the freedom to move and hurt the opponent with his ability to run, and I think he strives while improvising. I imagine Maryland knew as well as we all did that the runs wouldn't be live and adjusted accordingly. That's not going to be the case for OSU.

We've seen this offense look really good, and a few games it's looked disjointed. Hope they'll tweak the coaching duties to let Moore make more in-game adjustments on offense and hopefully get into a rhythm. It's possible they'll look like they did today again next week... but I doubt it.

I’d love to see a game tape from the end zone and see what JJ was seeing. There were several times he had all day and couldn’t find anybody. Do our receivers not get any separation or are our pass plays that lame that we can’t find a way to create open receivers. 

Wow, JJ looked average today. I guess we knew that could happen but with the Game next week it is concerning. Just glad to see a W. Thanks to the Defense.  Also think Moore was bold to go for it. On 4th early. Probably would have been a catch just glad for the PI. Also going for 2 looked bad.  The Terps were up and playing hard knowing they had life.  If they play anything like this offense played today its going to be hard to watch.

Play calling somewhat a concern, but we aren’t having as much of a convo about that if JJ doesn’t throw a pick, and if JJ doesn’t miss CJ wide open for huge TD. 
 

Concerned about tackles like everyone else. Hopefully we go to more BIG sets next week and chip rushers on pass plays. 
 

I think it needs to be said that not having Roman for most of the passing plays took away one of JJ’s more comfortable quick post snap reads. He’s had so many great quick passes to Roman this year. And Roman was clearly fine on the sideline, so I predict a better day for JJ next week. 

I don't think it's too conservative to focus on running the ball when your punter is pinning the opponent deep, your D is playing great, your hurt QB is off on both his accuracy AND his decision making, and it's windy.

This game is OVER in the 1st half if JJ doesn't throw that pick.

This game is OVER if he hits a wide-open CJ.

I just hope JJ is healthier and finds his old self by next Saturday.

I haven't seen an injury updates, but if Wilson is out due to concussion protocol, and Hinton and Henderson are out and the offense has no passing game like the last two weeks, the season ends next Saturday. There's no way we beat OSU with the offense that has shown up the last two weeks.

All this rabbling about playing calling I watched Moore dial up a play action back breaker with 4 minutes to go JJ missed. Moore schemed CornJo wide open with plenty of grass to sideline for safe shot if your asking me that is masterful. JJ is likely dinged with some nagging stuff which 75% of team probably is unfortunately for JJ he has to do highly skilled things. The decision making is what concerns me most but he has shown after a wobbly performance tonbe stellar. I tell all my varsity teams the sign of a great team is when you dont play your A game but still find ways to win in tough environments and under tough circumstances. Exactly what I watched yesterday Goooo Blue smoke OSU too! 

Looking at highlights.....Barnhart needs help almost every drop back. His first step is sssslllooowww. Chip or do something. If Henderson is healthy then that helps, but man Barnhart picked the wrong time to be bad right now.
