I have to assume that Brady joins the staff as a D-Line coach. He has bounced around a bunch since Michigan. If he spends a year or so coaching his brother's D-Line, he could probably grab a decent MAC-level job once one becomes available.
His time here was not a success, but I wish him well and would like to see him doing well in the MAC (as he did before he came here).

Kind of sad that Hoke hasn't found success. Unfortunately it's also a sign that hiring him was a mistake (which we all know now, anyways)
January 24th, 2019 at 3:09 PM ^
Well he has found success, but it’s just been a long time since then. I just think the game has passed him by and he has done a bad job of adapting to where the game has gone.
If he was a head coach 20-30 years ago, I think he would’ve been far more successful. At least more consistently. That era was much more catered to his style of football where you won games by running the ball up the gut, having a “play it safe” QB, and playing tough defense. But that’s not how football is won at the highest level anymore.

The game has changed so much, enough so where "basketball on grass" is the most prevalent type of offense.
In addition, I think Brady Hoke is just one of those coaches who are better at rebuilding lowly G5 teams without much history of success. He's not a P5 coach.

Yeah, good thing we moved on from running the ball up the gut with Hoke's replacement. As bad as people think Hoke was, he was the last coach to win 11 games at Michigan.

While wins are wins, that season was fluky as hell. Could’ve so easily lost the ND and OSU games, and had no business winning the Sugar Bowl. In our two losses we were exposed. In MSU’s case explicitly so.
That season was closer to 8-5 or 9-4 than we might think. A miracle against ND and a Braxton Miller overthrow was all that separated us from it.

He found success, and the same way Rod Marinelli did... Hoke is a top DL coach... Marinelli is a top DC . Anything with more responsibility and there is no value add.

Getting paid the big bucks to be mediocre at best is success

He IS a nice guy and he genuinely cares about his players as people.

I think what hurts Brady's chances the most is his horrible one year as the DC for Oregon. They gave up an average of 41 points a game. I know that Oregon never really had a good defense, but that was terrible. Washington dropped 70 on them in regulation.

Brady didn't do all that well in the MAC, either. He had a single lightning-in-a-bottle year and a bunch of so-so ones. Really, his two SDSU years look a lot better.
As for Jon, he seems to be on a higher plane than Brady. He seems brighter in interviews.

Is he going to walk to College Park?
January 24th, 2019 at 3:23 PM ^
This is MARYLAND FERGODSAKES!!!!
I just hope he can still hear football.
January 24th, 2019 at 2:05 PM ^
Hmmm. Ren Hoek not available?
January 24th, 2019 at 2:19 PM ^
I'd be surprised if Brady takes a job in the B1G. I don't think he'd want to be on the opposing sideline in the Big House.
January 24th, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
If they offered him good money, he'll take it even if it's a B1G school.
January 24th, 2019 at 2:37 PM ^
Considering he's currently jobless, I bet he would if one were offered.
January 24th, 2019 at 3:54 PM ^
He might have to wear red. As Maryland's colors are red, gold, white and black.
January 25th, 2019 at 9:07 AM ^
He may be jobless but he doesn’t need the money considering how much he made here, and however much he may still have been owed when he was fired. I bet Tennessee, Oregon and Carolina all paid him at least six figures each as well.
Not saying he won’t coach again, but if he does it won’t be because he needs the money. If I were him, I’d be taking a self-imposed sabbatical for a year. Take the wife on a good, long vacation to Bora Bora or some place like that and just live it up for a few weeks.

Cool---Hoke 'em!

Damn.... the judge beat me to it...... just like when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor.

One of the all time classics. Have the DVD, way better than the edited version on TV. Ramming speed!!!!!
January 24th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
Thanks?
January 24th, 2019 at 3:36 PM ^
I didn't even know he had a football coach brother. How have I never heard of him?
January 24th, 2019 at 5:46 PM ^
People kept suggesting he should join the staff when Brady was here.
January 24th, 2019 at 8:47 PM ^
I believe their Dad was a high school coach too for a time.
January 24th, 2019 at 3:42 PM ^
What? Is this a jhoke?
I'll see myself out now.
January 25th, 2019 at 6:31 AM ^
No, but might as well be. The notion that this is a family of talented coaches is one big Hokes.
January 24th, 2019 at 4:09 PM ^
Tremendous
January 24th, 2019 at 6:33 PM ^
Last Coach to beat OSU and in every OSU game.
That said, 14 was miserable.
January 24th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
'13 wasn't great either. The losses at Iowa and Sparty. The dreadful Cactus Bowl.
January 24th, 2019 at 11:44 PM ^
I’ve never heard of him. Any chance it’s Brady in a mustache and glasses just calling himself “Jon?”
January 25th, 2019 at 6:35 AM ^
Hello, my name is Mr. . . Ekoh, and I come, er. . . from someplace far away! Anyway I say we hire this Brady Hoke fellow to be our head coach again!
January 25th, 2019 at 4:57 PM ^
I still cannot believe what happed to our football team after Bradys first year here, he beat OSU and won the Bowl game and than it was all down hill !
