I was thinking 9-3 (but secretly thinking 10-2). Couldn't be happier that even my expectations were surpassed. Still doesn't seem possible what this team has done.

I was thinking about the same. I thought covid would be an outlier, and Harbaugh would be back around to where he has usually been in his Michigan tenure. Lose to OSU and lose 1 or 2 others to good teams. People were dreading the OSU game just last week, and sure it would have sucked to lose again, but I already felt like this season was a success.

I was in the 9-10 win camp as well. I was confident that Covid year was a fluke, and that we would see a regression to the mean under Harbaugh which is about 9.5 wins a year.

But there were obviously a number of question marks, like whether the new staff would contribute at a high level right away (YES), whether we would find a competent quarterback (YES), whether we would be able to shore up some of the weak spots in the secondary and interior DL (YES), and so on.

To do better than 9 or 10 wins meant all these things had to go right. And somehow, they did.

It wasn't that thread but I think I said 8-4/9-3, with a better chance of going 10-2 than 6-6.  I figured they'd beat most teams but lose to a couple and absolutely did not see OSU being one of their scalps.

I will say the doomsayers in that thread were something - lots of "we'll lose to NW" despite not understanding NW lost virtually their entire team.

Oh, man, Michigan Arrogance, this didn't age well:

"a lot of ppl this time of year want to build a happy little bridge of “IF” to 9-3. That’s fine but I’m not gonna drive over it.

just recognize 2 things:

  1. the bridge of “IF” is NOT leading to 11-1 like many years in the past. It’s leading to 3 losses. Lots of things need to go right to get to 9-3
  2. No one actually stands on these bridges -IWO, with real stakes and so many ifs I’m not sure many people would predict 9-3 knowing that that “gun to your head” will be after the season"

Not gonna front. I was predicting 8-4 with all the big losses (OSU/PSU/Wisc) and a heartbreaking random loss to either UW, MSU, or at Nebraska.

Glad to be very wrong

I had no idea so I didn't make a prediction. This team felt like it could be 6-6 or 11-1.  You just had nothing to go from and there were so many changes.

I'm just enjoying the ride.

Beat Iowa!!

I feel like a fucking idiot.  I wasn't a doomer or anything, but I didn't think there was anyway we could turn around the defense that fast and improve our OL enough to make 10 wins possible.  I didn't post in that thread, but I was thinking 6-6 or 7-5 with 8 wins being the max.

This is why I don't bet money on shit lol

I'm not sure if I made an actual game-by-game prediction; however, I said that basically, it was now or never with JH. The excuses weren't flying with me about how this is rebuilding, etc... No situation in college football will ever, ever be perfect. We've had SO many seasons where everything lined up perfectly, our best players were seniors, and we had our biggest rivals at home- and still didn't get it done.

I was just at the point of being done with the excuses.

I'm glad I ate my words about him never beating OSU.

Where is The Mayor????    Check this one out:

"10-2… Not buying Indiana, Penn State or anybody else other than OSU. I’m inclined to say 11-1… If anybody thinks last year was some harbinger of things to come, they are not really paying attention to the talent on this team. Especially on the offensive side of the ball and where it counts defensively. The front seven will make up for the weakness in the secondary. I also think Dax Hill will be the playmaker we need back there. Glad we aren’t playing Iowa. To me they are the best team in the West. This year feels like one of those years where Michigan sneaks up like 97 and 06… "

GLAD WE AREN'T PLAYING IOWA.  I love this.  I'm glad we ARE (now).

One take that caught my attention was WichitanWolverine offering to eat a lemon out mGrowOld's ass if his prediction that Michigan would go 10-3 came to fruition.

So we have that to look forward to.

All I know is that I think MSU is the most prescient here, offering Tucker $95 million, where he may end up being the only coach to beat the National Champion Michigan Wolverines this year.
