I remember watching him as a kid and yelling at the tv “shoot the ball”!

Leo Brown.
He was the Human Victory Cigar back in my day and was guaranteed to do something spectacular during his two minutes of mop-up time. Late in games, the crowd would start chanting "Leeee-oooooh, Leeee-oooooh" until Frieder finally put him in.

I was scrolling to see if anyone would name Leo Brown. You beat me about a half hour. The Leo cheer was the loudest one we had back in the day.

Was he Bad like Leroy, or was he just bad?

Not to be critical of the '09 group (ended the tourney drought), but I would have absolutely loved to see what Manny Harris could have been like on a better team. After having a fuller database of UM player comps, Harris reminds me of a way more athletic senior MAAR with a little less shooting touch. It was tough when he left for his senior season.

Sam Mitchell (RIP)
Rich McIver
They we’re in the class after Tolbert and Talley; the year before the Fab Five.
After one year with the Fab Five, Mitchell transferred to Cleveland State & McIver to Texas. Mitchell was a star with CSU while McIver was a role player at Texas. Both played professionally overseas.
The year before the Fab Five was a bit rough; losing record in conference, few of any quality wins and a first round NIT loss.

Josh Asselin and Peter Vignier. Two near-seven-footers that lived near me on central campus. They had to duck to get through the doors in the dorms.
Josh made a pretty good life as a ball player in Europe and Peter looks to be a government contractor. Good for you guys!

My buddy - 6'3", solid baller - had to D up Asselin in a high school game. He saw that Asselin had just gotten a tattoo on his arm the day before, so he kept elbowing the bandage. Cheap move, but kept Asselin from posting him up the whole game. Held him to single digits.

Joel Thompson - I started following Michigan basketball in the mid-70's. I thought his name was really fun to say. It is pronounced Jo-elle. He also had the most amazing Afro.

Pride of Flint Beecher nicknamed "change" cause he could put coins on top of the backboard. Had a pro career in Australia.

Man the 80s we had rock stars. Bill Frieder could recruit his tail off. Detroit was a hot spot. Those were the good ol days for sure.

All time high motor, Mr Hustle. Loved him!
He also was a volunteer tutor at my high school, even as UM's 6th man. Nicest guy...

Mark Hughes. National Champ.
He is now an NBA executive.

Mark Hughes, pride of Muskegon.
Richard Rellford.
Played a pickup game against Rob Pelinka at the CCRB once, just imagine how well he could shoot being guarded by a rotating cast of Poli Sci majors.

Bernard Robinson!! Same year as me, and remember thinking that his class would bring us back. Awesome guy who was good on the court, but also stands out because the rest of that class went wrong in so many ways.

Rotolu Adebiyi was a couple years behind me at Huron High School before walking on at UM.
Always loved Lester Abram's game, but injuries really hampered him.
Also Olivier Saint-Jean, who transferred to San Jose State and changed his name to Tariq Adbul-Wahad before playing in the NBA for a while.

Our family moved from Northern Indiana to Pinckney in the summer of '67-I was 14. We loved going down to Crisler to watch the Johnny Orr coached Wolverines-loved their style of play. I got to see Rudy T bomb away. The '74-'75 was my favorite: Kupec, Robinson, Britt, Grote and, my all-time Michigan favorite, Joe Johnson. What a joy it was to watch this team play. This very "undersized" team took National Champion UCLA to OT in the tournament.

First ones that come to mind for me:
Bernard Robinson Jr
Jerret Smith
Avery Queen
I could be screwing this up, but they were the twin towers awhile ago: Josh Asselin and Chris Young?
Graham Brown
Evan Smotrycz
Blake McLimans
Lester Abram
Zak Irvin
Anthony Wright
Laval Lucas-Perry
Kelvin Grady

Ron Coleman. I remember seeing him in the computer lab in the basement of West Quad one night.
Also, Dani Wohl was mentioned, but I’ll say him again because I saw him shooting around at CCRB with what looked to be his girlfriend.

Dan Pelekoudas. Some of my earliest memories of college bball are DePaul on WGN seemingly every night and this blond pg for UM (on ch. 50?) who would dribble, dribble, dribble, and … turnover. Then the general arrived!

I went to high school and law school with Rotolu Adebiyi. He was a captain under Tommy Amaker. Cool dude.
