I have advocated for that a time or two on this site.  I know it was only 1 year, but he's clearly a good coach with potential.  I feel defensive-minded coaches who can stop modern day offenses are very rare.  Offensive minded coaches are a dime a dozen.

If Minter became a head coach, he could very easily find a competent offensive coordinator to handle that side of the ball.

I'm afraid some coaches might leave to join Biff at Charlotte.

I don’t think we’re really in danger of that happening. Position coach at Michigan is an upgrade over position coach or coordinator spots at a school like Charlotte. At most you’re looking at some younger analysts being given on-field roles on Biff’s staff.

Biff would do well to get ahold of former analyst and current Ravens defensive assistant Ryan Osborn. By all accounts he was a great mind and players loved him. If Elston were to leave for any reason, I would be in favor of brining Oz back. Maybe he’d be interested in a DC/DL gig on Biff’s staff.

Hartline made a blustering, boastful talk to tOSU students about how aOSU coaches don't make blustering, boastful talks.

So maybe he's a good recruiter but maybe too he's like his boss Ryan (Tryin'?) Day, believing talking tough matters more than preparation and execution.

Leonhard failed his trail run by losing to a 5-7 MSU team and losing games to the big rivals (Iowa and Minn). He needed to beat one of those rivals - period. Nebraska would be a good landing point, unless the Illini DC get a HC job, then shift to work for Bert. Staying put is not likely an option.
