Jordan Anthony in the Transfer Portal

Per our old friend TomVH.

This one makes a lot of sense, hope he gets a great opportunity.

Is there a stat that has total transfers by school? I think it would be interesting to see how many Michigan has compared to other school the last few years.

Well, that's too bad.  I had high hopes for him.  A very highly ranked LB from IMG Academy.  Given his lack of playing time, maybe this is the best decision for him.  Best of luck to you Jordan.

I’m having a shitty day and Sparty Doesn’t Know cheered me up.

Anyway, best of luck to the young man.  And this freed up a spot for Harbaugh to go after an under the radar Ball St. recruit.  ??

Can someone re-rank our recruiting classes post transfers? Stunning what has happened over past 3 seasons. Some very highly regarded players:

Asiasi

Wahington

Woods

Sims

St Juste

Solomon

Hudson

Singleton

Anthony

Not to mention a bevy of others who may not have been impactful.

I mean, that list spans a couple of years.  I have no idea if the OSU one is over the same range, but I don't know if anyone can read too much into 5 more guys transferring/leaving the team.

I think the transfer portal is good for both players and teams, and unless you have just a massive number of guys leave, or a concentration of them in a particular class, I don't think it speaks negatively about anyone.

I'm sure that factors into it quite a bit, but look at Jordan Anthony.  Major assumption: you have to think that he liked Michigan, at the very least, because he stuck it out for 3 seasons, but wanted his senior year to be one where he didn't ride the pine and/or was closer to home (we'll see where he ends up - somewhere on the east coast or mid-Atlantic?). Can't begrudge him that.

I'm not surprised. He wasn't playing next year either. Best thing he could do was to find somewhere else to start over. One of the things I like about the transfer portal is guys like him may get a chance to play if he can't make it where he is.

He's played when asked, he's never said a cross word, best of luck to the young man.

I'd imagine he's saying at this point, he's not surprised he's transferring since he hasn't produced. Recruiting rankings miss all the time and it's not like we're in bad shape at linebacker or that we've shown an inability to develop linebackers

That's 11 from the class of 2017 that was ranked #5.  Four on the dline, not including JaRamond Hall which I cant remember if he was offense or defense. Wonder why our dline is thin, look no further than that class.

Well, they signed several last year, including top recruits Mazi and Chris Hinton. I know many on this site love to be negative but how about some reference to facts.

Okay, I just read that last sentence and feel foolish but I remain an optimist.

I'm a big Jim Harbaugh supporter but he's gotta figure this shit out with retention. McGrone didn't even really get a chance until Josh Ross got hurt and I can't imagine how many other younger players were probably capable but just didn't get the chance. I'd bet he addresses it and figures it out.

Want to know why Ohio State is so much better than Michigan? Yes the talent gap, but look at who beat Rutgers worse this year. Ohio State put the young guys in much earlier. They gave up 21 points, but whats more important? Having a nice, fancy number in the stat sheet or developing the program? It's not the only reason Ohio State has better retention but its a major one.
