Jon Jansen goes after J.J. and some of the players. "Read the room" He says.

Jansen on his radio show goes after J.J. that he put himself above the team. Then about the train formation, he leaves it open that maybe Harbaugh and or the staff had the players do it. This isn't the first the first time that he's done something like this. Last year, he blamed the Michigan players for the tunnel incident, then walked back his comments later. I guess he likes the radio gig, and doesn't want to piss off Valenti.

Here is the podcast. People can judge for themselves.

Having a different opinion than our does not make him-- or anyone-- an asshole. If he thinks JJ was wrong--so what? Are our feelings hurt? We can't take it if someone expresses the wrong opinion? I disagree with you, but I'm not saying or thinking you're an asshole. This is an immature take, sorry.

I say this as a fairly heavy Twitter user who's more level-headed than most there, but I blame social media for some of this. You can't just disagree. You have to DESTROY your opponent. It's about winning and losing an argument, not possibly learning something or finding common ground or giving some friendly pushback. Jon Jansen, Michigan legend, can't just be wrong. He has to be an asshole.

I mean, if it's a former prominent Michigan player with a current podcast associated with U of M...I think it's pretty relevant.

Also, Jansen isn't the only one who didn't like the Train formation or whatever. I'm not saying his interpretation is correct (I don't think coaches would have directed that type of thing), but it's noteworthy that some within the Michigan community are thinking this way.

It is noteworthy, but in my opinion those in the Michigan community thinking that way are engaging in an odd form of self hatred.

He is serving the suspension.  That does not make the suspension per se justified nor mean that he or the team need to think it is.

Anything associated with Clemson - well, it can nauseate me.

Clemson has busses take the players 100 yards - with a police escort - for their grand pre-game entry.

With all Clemson spent on their facilities - they could easily have constructed an underground tunnel - with the players miraculously appearing at kickoff.

I’m not saying it’s awesome or whatever but the whole procession of the buses and the entrance is all kinda part of their “thing” though.

I guess they could say we could just lower the banner so the players don’t need to jump to touch it, or they could just touch it in the locker room before they come out…

Life is always full of nuances isn't it?

I think many on this site feel Harbaugh is a martyr who did nothing wrong.  Fact is, he did break some rules.  Was it enough to warrant a 3 game suspension?  I personally don't think so...but he's also not completely squeaky clean in this either.

On the other hand I've seen Finebaum and others with the take that fans/players cannot make a big deal about this because it was a university imposed suspension.  That is also a stupid take.  The only reason the university imposed it was because the NCAA was going to impose something even MORE harsh.  So yeah, we can want to "Free Harbaugh" with university imposed sanctions because that's just semantics.

My two cents:  I don't have a problem with JJ wearing the shirt.  I think many of the players are on record saying Harbaugh's suspension has united the team and given extra motivation.  If that works, I'm all for it.  I'm all for players supporting their coach and vice versa.  Press conferences have always been a time for athletes to protest things.

The train was probably unnecessary, but it's in the past now.

Well, we sort of do know it.  The University self-imposed suspensions on coaches.  You don't do that if you've done nothing wrong.  They've essentially admitted it.  You can debate whether or not Harbaugh knew that rules were being broken.....but it's hard to dispute that they were broken.

The self imposed suspension is a choice based on a calculation of what is best in the long run.

A.  Fight it out, drag out the story, impact recruiting down the line, face possibly worse sanctions from the NCAA.

B.  Preempt the NCAA, make the story go away sooner, carry on.

Not an admission of guilt.

David Ojabo came out and told the media that Ryan Osborn was coaching the edges in 2021.

If the standard for evidence is, like, a video time-stamped for sometime in 2021 of Osborn coaching the players, then yeah, I guess we don't have evidence.

If the standard is our own players' admissions of broken rules, then yeah, we do have evidence.

"Man, again, it’s all scripted," Ojabo said about being drafted by the Ravens. "It’s all part of the plan. I can’t wait to work with him, Coach ‘Mac,' and even Coach Osborn [defensive assistant Ryan Osborn]. He’s the one that really trained me up this last season. So, I really can’t wait to get going.”

Is “training up” coaching?  Could it merely be “encouraging?”  Could it be that he was “helping an athlete gain a competitive advantage with use of data and statistics,” which is permissible?

The distinctions only highlight how ridiculous the suspension is.

2 insiders have said what Harbaugh is being penalized for is covid 2020 rules violations, similar to what Herm Edwards did, but worse. The same 2 said it's possible there are still more penalties coming beyond the suspension.

Could those insiders be wrong? Sure. Could they be right? Sure.

But Michigan self imposing a suspension is for good reason. Self imposing a suspension speaks of the seriousness of it. It's not for the Yoder-esque rubbish rumor about a cheeseburger.

I could wrong, but isn't this exactly the same thing Harbaugh called out Ryan Day and OSU for during Covid? This is what prompted the "We are gonna hang 100 on them" when we see them statement from Day? No investigation was launched after this. I think things like this are what has Harbaugh pissed off.

Well said.

This is the point that the Daily reporter and others have wrong.

M is admitting the minor violations happened.  JH refuses to kiss the NCAA ring and admit any obstruction or misleading so the NCAA wants blood.  M is only self-imposing so these penalties do not carry over (much) into the 2024 season where we actually HAVE some potentially difficult Non-Con games (Fresno, Texas etc.)

People forget that these players are still basically "kids".  They were ticked off that their coach is taking a fall for something they see as undeserved = so they decided to show this and make a statement.

No, it's not.  The proper behavior here is, if someone wants to check out Jansen's podcast, great, because hey, he's a former prominent Michigan player with a current podcast associated with U of M.  And when someone does go there and sees he has a garbage clickbait take, you don't signal-boost it, you move on.  And no, it's not really relevant either because it's just a snowflake take, lacking any insight or meaningful influence.

And before anyone rolls out the tedious argument of censorship or filtering, not signal-boosting here is not shutting down Jansen's podcast.  Anyone who wants to check out that podcast can still do so.  However, due to the way this site is laid out, MGoBoard has a small window for anything to get attention.  Signal-boosting anything bumps everything else down.  So, we all have a responsibility to curate content and avoid littering.

Again, if anyone wants to know what Jansen thinks, he has his own platform.  Over here, it's irresponsible and inconsiderate to carry water for a stupid cry for attention, and I will downvote it every time.
