I don't think we are talking enough about the fact that he was seriously hurt this year. He knows how fragile a career in football is. He just won a national fucking championship. His coach has told him he's already the best Michigan quarterback of all time. Who could blame him for going? Go get paid and live your dream if you want to JJ, you deserve. But damn if you come back will you have the adoration and love of a fan base behind you

27-1, National Champion, three time Buckeye destroyer! I’m good with him leaving but wouldn’t be sad if he returns either. He did what he set out to do and maybe after a great NFL career he comes back ie Jim Harbaugh to win a national championship as a coach, lol.

This clearly means he’s gone.  Unless, of course, it means he’s staying.  His comments and the timing suggest he’s going.  But, I wouldn’t put it past him to just be giving us the head fake.  IIRC, Tyrone Wheatley had a presser, said he loved his time at Michigan but needed to what was best for him.  He paused, and said it was best for him to stay at Michigan.

We will have to see, but the dude is a legend no matter what.

I'm shocked at this thought that JJ would announce either way tonight. Has nobody watched this team this year? Zero percent chance any of these guys would have made tonight about them and take focus away from the team. Shocked I tell you....shocked

I will be shocked if JJ leaves.  Think about it.  Can get paid NFL money while still leading his team and defending the title.    Money isn't everything to this kid. If Harbaugh leaves then maybe.  But I think he's staying.

He would have announced tonight, and the way he talked, the way his teammates sitting on the floor reacted I would guess he is gone. I also am an idiot and usually wrong. If he leaves he is one of the winningest WBs in CF history, if he stays, hooray! Win win

JJ led us to the top of the mountain. Insanely talented player. Leader. Zen Master. Do what you will, man.

If you choose to stay, we'll run it back.

If you choose to go, you've done enough, and thanks for everything. I'll root for you as long as you're in the league, and after, too.

Love JJ either way. He was a godsend to this program and think he would definitely benefit from another year but given the raft of new QB’s starting weekly in NFL I think good chance he will throw his lot in and hopefully get on the carousel of having chances to start in the league. Have to go sometime but it is not necessarily all it appears.

I'm just going to go to sleep later tonight knowing that JJ is still on the team. If I stay off social media, I  can believe that as long as I want to. That's my plan.

Next year's QB class looks to me to be much weaker than this year's, so he'd likely be looking at a better selection in 2025. That's probably the strongest argument in favor of him staying.

Either way, thank you for everything and best of luck!

Happy for him if he goes, but from my perspective, he could benefit from staying, getting significant NIL money, and being a heisman candidate.

but if he goes, I hope He’s the next Brady

If we offered all these guys obscene amounts of money would they come back? Or would they have still gone pro because they won the natty? If it’s the former, I’d be really ticked because OSU was able to get all their guys back with money. Even Trevyon with a RB already there.

One more season could mean the difference between 2nd or 3rd round this draft or 1st round next draft. But he won a NC, so I think he is going to turn pro.

I think that Cornelius Johnson said it best: if JJ were coming back, don’t you think he would’ve said something by now?

90-10 (maybe 95-5) he’s gone. I would love to have him back, of course, but I totally understand if he leaves. Mission accomplished.
