I don’t know that I’d fire him. But I’d let him know that the interview means you’re not committed to Michigan and it’d be best if we mutually parted ways. 2 years ago this wasn’t a top of the college game job, a great opportunity for sure. Now any coach with aspirations of winning a national championship would be an idiot not to take it. Look at what marshmallow from TCU just did with 1/4 the roster talent.

I hear you.  The only thing I would say is that a coaching change would be more damaging to this program than him looking around for another month.  Even if it cost us some transfers and some recruits.  However, he would have to sign another contract with a massive buyout to put any future speculation moot.  I just think that M is a tough place to succeed.  Our NIL approach, weather, talent-poor region makes it difficult for any veteran coach to come here and would make it tough to convince a young up and comer to stay very long.  JH does love Michigan and he seems ok with its weaknesses.

I am less upset about these rumors this year. The primary reason is that our current coaching staff has 1-3 coaches that can step in and make UM proud.

I think Moore could be an excellent replacement.  By all accounts, he is a great person who connects with players and recruits.  The job he has done with OL has been amazing.  Also, I think Clinkscale and Hart are viable possibilities as well.  Jay is a remote possibility but could be good as well.

I’m replying to your comment so I can be as close to the top of possible. Let’s just check Feldman track record, since supposedly him and Harbaugh are best buddies, according to people in here.

2022: Feldman: Sources inside Michigan think Jim Harbaugh would take Las Vegas Raiders job if offered

2022: Jim Harbaugh may have interest in coaching Bears

2014: FELDMAN: NOT SO FAST ON THE WHOLE HARBAUGH-TO-MICHIGAN DEAL

Im out to dinner with the family so you’ll have to give me a little bit to drop some more material. But let’s just not trust Feldman on this going forward, OK?

Did he? He said, prior to hearing from any NFL teams, that he’d be back. Now obviously, you’re not going to say you’re leaving for a new job that hasn’t even been offered yet. You don’t know IF an offer is going to even come.

Let’s be honest, what the hell else was he going to say as his team is 13-0. Preparing his team for the playoff. A week before signing day. AND had no contact from an NFL team at that point.

Now we have new information about NFL team(s) contacting him about their vacancies. In addition to reports that he would accept an offer if presented with one. It would be in the best interest of himself, the team, the program, and recruiting for him to put it to rest now.

I believe Matt Weiss is the source. I still hold on to the fact that he was the assistant helping Harbaugh prepare for Vikings interview last year. I think he'd rather be an OC in NFL but isn't going to get that opportunity in Baltimore or anywhere else unless Jim goes back to NFL.

Dug up my dusty password just to log in and say: god damn it am I tired of going through this after every season. Either lock him in long term with a new contract with a stupid buyout or get on with the massive disappointment that would be Harbaugh's departure before it derails another season of recruiting.

Don’t shoot the messenger,  all I was doing was letting everyone know according to this report.

I don’t think Jim is going anywhere, he said he will be back 2023.  I believe he is man of his word.

Feldman, Auerbach, and Meek all putting their byline on the article this post is based on is concerning. They are all in the know and don't throw around wild rumors.

They didn't really put much on the line. They gave the ultimate "hedge" statement when they included the words "if offered". Like last year it was "he was gone and looking for an NFL job". And it became "he's only back because he was never offered the job".
