At this point Michigan needs to give Jim an ultimatum, this absolutely killed recruiting this year, even though this class has a lot of "sleepers". One off season of it was enough. He should either leave or come out and deny the reports and not even entertain anything from the NFL.

Harbaugh has made references to winning a super bowl And being at the pinnacle of the sport. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s at least listening. Will he get everything he wants? Doubtful but that’s why there’s at least smoke.

Harbaugh is 2-0 in the Big Ten champ game and 0-2 in the playoffs. Those are the postseason games that have actually counted for something. 2-2 is decent considering the stakes in those matchups. Most bowl teams are fielding partial teams at this point. Not sure how much a Citrus Bowl or Sun Bowl win really matters anymore.

Maybe Jim wants to entertain the offers to turn them down. Last year, the NFL turned him down, and now he wants to turn the NFL down while his stock is up. It’s not a good feeling to be rejected and have that as the reason why you cannot do something. This would be incredibly petty, but I could see Jim wanting to have the absolute last word on whether he coaches in the NFL again. The Minnesota Vikings rejected him last year and that’s why he’s not in the NFL right now. Michigan wanting him might not be enough for someone as competitive as Jim Harbaugh. He doesn’t want anyone determining his path other than himself.

Very reliable sources say if he's offered a job he's going to take it.

2 teams might offer him, Indy and Denver.

Denver has it down to Dan Quinn, Sean Payton, and Jim Harbaugh. If they decide on Harbaugh, he gone.

The people who are acting like this is a nothing rumor are just in complete and utter denial. Those 3 from the Atlantic are as legit as it gets and even Sam has confirmed. Jim was gone last year if Minny offered. It seems pretty clear the NFL is still his ultimate goal and quite frankly, that’s the case for the vast majority of football players, coaches, executives, whatever. And I say that as someone who watches college over the NFL every single weekend. The NFL is king.

He might not get offered again. So he could still be here. But as mentioned, this annual “is he going” is ultimately going to hurt the program long term. And it especially sucks this year knowing what’s coming back next year. We have a chance to do it all again. And you’d love to keep most of the staff and just run it back, but the importance of selecting a head coach is beyond massive. And there’s probably nobody on this staff qualified or who is the best person for that job right now.

TCU was unranked coming into the season with a new head coach. They whooped our ass on Saturday - even though the score doesn't reflect it.

If Jimmy wants to leave for the NFL knowing what type of team is coming back next season at Michigan, then good riddance.

I'm not worried, and quite frankly I'll be happy not to deal with this nonsense every off season.

These reporters pull a neat trick. You may have seen it before; they tweet out a juicy headline that "IF they offer, Jim might go." And then when nothing happens, they come back to the suckers and say "hey, we said IF."

Bruce Feldman, Nicole Auerbach, Austin Meek all work for a company that survives ON SUBSCRIPTIONS.  What better way to generate subs than a juicy story about Jim Harbaugh?

How are you falling for this again?

Falling for what?

It is absolutely news, especially after stating that this wouldn’t be an ongoing thing last year, that Harbaugh is still interested in the NFL.

Harbaugh himself said last year that he was planning on taking the Minnesota job.

Nicole Auerbach is a proud Michigan alum and Feldman has been following the team and the staff in particular as closely this season as any national reporter ever has in the Harbaugh era. These aren’t trash reporters. And they aren’t the only ones saying this. Sam said he thinks he’d leave if offered. And NFL teams are understandably goi g to be interested in him given his success everywhere including the NFL.

Being in denial doesn’t make this any less real. And right now unfortunately there’s a real chance, whatever those odds are, that we could have a new coach next year.

On the one hand, JH emphatically said his dalliance with the NFL was over after last off-season, and it doesn't seem in-character for him to outright go against that.  On the other, credible sources like Sam and Bruce Feldman (of the Freaks List who notably has good access to the program) are reporting this.

If JH is dedicated to staying, we need him to make a gesture that makes it clear to everybody he has no chance to ever be back in the NFL - kneel during the national athem.

If there truly IS smoke to this im about at my wit's end with the whole Harbaugh flirting with NFL charade and UM being the unwitting dupe who keeps enabling an unfaithful coach. IF theres smoke im done with Jim, no one is irreplaceable

If I were Harbaugh, I'd listen to any bona fide offer, but probably wouldn't accept it unless it was irresistible.

An NFL job with complete control, as the Broncos evidently are interested in per the NYT Athletic article, might be irresistible.

The future is awfully hard to predict.

It's too early to go into full fetal-position mode. On the other hand, I'm studying the position to make sure I do it correctly, if necessary!

- The AD needs to call Harbaugh and ask if he is entertaining the NFL (may already have happened) and if he can commit 100% to being at Michigan in 2023

- If Harbaugh says No, terminate him

- If Harbaugh says Yes, ask him to release a statement to that effect within the next 72 hours

- If Harbaugh refuses, terminate him

Trust me it will be better for all parties involved.

I agree, but you'll get negged by irrational Jim lovers who think Michigan should be beholden to Jim because we didn't trust him 2 years ago and wanted him fired and for last year's Viking courtship. They care more about Jim than what's good for the university, players, and recruits.

People keep saying Sam Webb confirmed all this but where? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Did he say it on a podcast or over the radio or something?

Warde/Jim really need to put all this down. A simple statement released through athletic department would suffice.

He just said he will be back in 2023 less than 2 weeks ago. How many times would you like him to come out and say the same thing? Stop falling for NFL talking heads clickbate!!!
