This will be the thread for hot takes about the performance of the coaching staff.

I am embarrassed I ever doubted Coach Harbaugh.

He made amazing changes and they all worked, beyond anything even the most optimistic would have thought.

I hope the AD spends some money to keep all of this staff and the support staff as well.

Harbaugh with an amazing gesture to give up his bonuses for employees who had to take a pay cut because of covid. Hopefully all the coaches will get raises to keep them here.

Harbaugh took enough of a pay cut to basically double every assistant coaches' salary.  Now, I am sure JH's salary will increase, but maybe he won't take the raise.  Something tells me he is going to deny a raise to ensure his staff gets paid and his guys stick around for the foreseeable future.

I doubted him too, and I think that's fair. I always liked him and wanted him to reach this level, there was just a point where I did not see it happening. As you said, he made amazing changes. In doing so, he showed a humility and a willingness to try something different that is unusual in his line of work. He deserves a ton of credit for even making those changes to begin with, even if they hadn't produced a season this great.

And yeah, I love what he's doing with his bonuses. He seems like a genuinely good guy- and now he is a Big Ten Champion too!

Greatest coaches. They make adjustments. Their game plans are awesome. They knew Iowa would be a tough out. They didn't flinch and trounced Iowa. Love the changes Harbaugh made. They are not going to back down to any team. CFP beware. Harbaugh is coming.

Trick plays for long scores on offense, great red zone defense, scheming a blocked punt—great job all around.  But the amazing thing is how the coaching staff took a bunch of very good but not overall elite, OSU-level recruits, and turned them into a TEAM that has exceeded expectations by more than pretty much any Michigan team of the last 50 years.  Amazing group of guys, whatever happens in the playoffs.

Funny you mention that about the recruits and level of talent. This past week I kept thinking of how Michigan is not a more talented team than OSU, but they are a decisively better team. Yes, these coaches have produced a great team- they play together, they believe in each other, they just keep working, and they may well be the best team in the nation. I love this team!

In 2014, the gutless Jed York first backstabbed Jim Harbaugh and then fired him, despite the fact that Harbaugh had done nothing but win. On that dayI became an ex-49er fan. A few days later, he went home to Michigan and I became a Michigan fan. He was an excellent coach when he arrived at Michigan and he’s remained an excellent coach throughout, even in the years that weren’t as successful as he or the fans would’ve liked. I’m happy to see him prove the doubters wrong. There should be a special thread where all the Fire Haughbaughs!(s) can line up and admit they were wrong.

Besides the 2nd quarter issue of falling into the Ferentz trap, great fucking game!

I will admit that I had massive doubts about Harbaugh after last year, but he found the magic formula to shut us all up...just fucking win!

Regardless of what happens in the playoff, I hope this season's performance can propel the future recruiting classes to many accolades.

The big plays at the beginning to take the lead were huge! We knew this one might be a slog, and it really was for the 2nd quarter at least. Being up when it was a field position game put all the pressure on Iowa and they crumbled. Gattis' play call on that double pass was perfection. Leaning into our tendency to pass to Edwards and using it in the most diabolical way possible. That call set us up for the rest of the game to keep up the pressure until they broke.

Okay, time to confess: I wanted Jim gone last year. I honestly thought he didn't have it in him to make the adjustments he did. And by that I don't just mean coaching changes. I mean going for it on 4th and short near the 50. He didn't do that enough before. Hats off to the analytics kid who got in his ear. The little things. Harbaugh addressed them all! Well done!

Superb.

Two things...

1.  This team improved as the season progressed.

2.  The second-half adjustments and just generally dominating the 2nd half in the last two weeks have been so satisfying to witness.

This team plays really hard, with a lot of poise and heart.  Tons of good chemistry as well.  Played a tough schedule 12 & 1 *.   Great creative big plays tonight.  Love our coaches, all of them.  Michigan won decisively in all three phases tonight.  Credit players and coaches for being ready and focused after huge win over OSU.  This team is special. Credit to coaches and players.  Macdonald is a red zone wizard.  Harbaugh should have been B10 Coach of Year.

Since the Maryland game I feel like our offensive play calling went from playing not to lose to playing with creative and fearless abandon! Man I love it! Not sure what happened but let's keep it rolling!

This year is the first in a while I've seen coaching around what you have vs. what you WANT to have.

Have a bruiser back, a game manager, and a line full of road graders? Embrace it.

Have a great pass rush but question marks elsewhere? Use your pass rush to neutralize the question marks.

Have other stuff you want to accomplish? Bring in personnel who accomplish that for you.

Want the stuff you like to keep working? Find ways to break tendencies that work with your players' skill sets.

They did all of this, and the results speak for themselves.

They called a solid game.  I was worried about the drive in the 3rd quarter where the ran 3 times in the middle and punted. I thought they were about to turtle but no, they came out and ran the field the next drive

Can we talk about halftime adjustments?

I have not seen a Michigan team that evaluates the first half and then just dominates, taking away everything that worked for the other team in the first half. We have seen that the last 2 weeks. Got-damn. I love this team.

Hell yes.
Great job by the staff and the whole football program. Ugly, slow football for the balance of the 1st half but then some key plays to turn the lead into an avalanche.

Go Blue!
