Iowa @ Maryland on FS1 at 8pm tonight! Who ya got?
Some decent games tonight but one in particular has my eye. Maryland is on Michigan's schedule late in the season and many of us believe that game to be a trap game of sorts as it is sandwiched between PSU and OSU. Plus Maryland's offense looks to be legit, especially that passing game. Taulia Tagovailoa leads the Big Ten in passing yards, touchdowns, and only has 1 interception on the season. They only beat Illinois by 3 but I watched that game and they moved the ball up and down the field on that team but kept shooting themselves in the foot with mental errors or turnovers. They could have and should have won that game by more than 3 points.
Anyway, my point is I'm smelling an upset tonight. Iowa might be the weakest top 5 team in history and this game a home game for the Terps. Right now the line is -3 to Iowa and if I were a betting man I'd put all my money on Maryland for the win.
Am I too excited for a Friday night Big Ten game? Probably. Do I care? No. I think it's going to be a good game with a great atmosphere and I'm going to watch as many of those kinds of games as I can this year since last year was so dreadful in that regard. Lets go Terps!

Or perhaps Maryland sucks big time.
Betting that might be the case. Wow...

Next week's opponent watch, updated after Iowa-Maryland.
Maryland fear level: 2, an indeterminate number of cute puppies

Another turnover what???
October 1st, 2021 at 9:19 PM ^
MD is a fraud. self-imposed mistakes. horrible QB play.
October 1st, 2021 at 9:19 PM ^
Thanks to Maryland for not keeping the game close . I can get to bed fairly early now .
October 1st, 2021 at 9:20 PM ^
I see that Iowa finally figured out how to stuff Kinnick Stadium in the overhead compartment on their plane.
Also, I need an IV of that cutback move directly fed into my veins. Love it.
October 1st, 2021 at 9:26 PM ^
Well, Iowa is shutting me up. This is how you take the crowd out of it on the road.
October 1st, 2021 at 9:29 PM ^
Ya think?
October 1st, 2021 at 9:26 PM ^
Maryland is a poorly coached team.

Mr. Gattis agrees

To read the first page of this thread is hilarious now.
October 1st, 2021 at 9:30 PM ^
28 consecutive points and Maryland has ran I think 3 plays in that span.
October 1st, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
Anyone else think Kevin Warren was pretty cringe when he visited the booth? Seem to evade almost every direct question they asked him.
Color Analyst [asking after Warren had just touted mental health/student support initiative and during an injury timeout]: What resources are available to guys who get injured like this?
Kevin Warren: *Evasive non-answer*

Good thing you're not a betting man, OP
October 1st, 2021 at 9:35 PM ^
Iowa's pass defense is designed, to an extent, to generating TOs, but their run this year is absolutely unsustainable. Like, they're averaging almost 2 a game thus far this year.
October 1st, 2021 at 9:45 PM ^
They showed a graphic earlier in the broadcast that Iowa leads the nation in interceptions since 2017. That’s a long run. At some point it ceases to be a fluke.
October 2nd, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
I truly believe Iowa is living this hot streak on borrowed time. That top 6 ranking will come to a crashing halt sooner rather than later.
October 1st, 2021 at 9:43 PM ^
Just got home, turned on the tv and thought this was in the fourth quarter. 31-7 at half with a chance for 3 more points? Impressive
October 1st, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
Trying not to state the obvious - but Maryland sucks donkey balls.
Right to the scrotum skin.
This is embarassing...
October 1st, 2021 at 11:21 PM ^
How would you suck any animal's balls and not have the sucking involve the scrotum skin?
October 1st, 2021 at 9:52 PM ^
Holy cats, Iowa is blowing the doors off of Maryland!
October 1st, 2021 at 9:56 PM ^
Being delusional here but if we can escape tomorrow and both of these teams win next week, that might put us in the driver's seat.
I know, big if but it could happen.
October 1st, 2021 at 9:59 PM ^
Iowa might be the weakest top 5 team in history
Sir, pre season Clemson is on line 1...
October 1st, 2021 at 10:04 PM ^
Hm, that Tulsa team that gave OSU fits is down 35-3 to Houston.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:08 PM ^
We’re going to know a lot more about Michigan and OSU tomorrow I think
October 1st, 2021 at 10:09 PM ^
This is the worst broadcast team in all of sports.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:18 PM ^
Just wait, Gus Johnson is on tap for a tomorrow noon game.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:22 PM ^
Even if you hate Gus (I do not), he and Klatt at least like, talk about the action in an intelligible (note: not necessarily intelligent) way.
Brando and Tillman are just incoherent. And annoying.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:10 PM ^
So what are the odds of 4 turnover gift wrapped games when we face Wisky or the Terps? Or does this just happen for others?
October 1st, 2021 at 10:55 PM ^
I'm pretty sure that perk wasn't included in the subscription plan Michigan chose
October 1st, 2021 at 11:13 PM ^
Turnovers are often created…you have to make those plays!
October 1st, 2021 at 10:11 PM ^
28 points on 97 yards in the 2nd! Iowa!
October 1st, 2021 at 10:28 PM ^
That’s because they kept getting short fields due to turnovers. They scored on like five possessions in a row.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:17 PM ^
That is...structurally unsound defense.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:19 PM ^
That rb just juked 2 guys right out of their jock straps
October 1st, 2021 at 10:19 PM ^
Taulia is an impressive 18/21 tonight. It's just that four of them have been completed to Hawkeyes.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:28 PM ^
After watching MD implode with turnovers and I thought MD offense was fun in the first quarter, I kind of OK with M offense. Probably not a favorite thing to see but I sure will trade conservative calls over turnovers. Hope to see a better M offense tomorrow.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:36 PM ^
The D is bend-don't-break. It's going to need an offense that carries it at times.
Not imploding is a good floor, but it's not a high enough ceiling.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:32 PM ^
Just a side note, Miami just lost another game @ home. MSU previous opponents not doing so well.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:39 PM ^
Houston also handling Tulsa with much more ease than OSU did.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:43 PM ^
Miami is Exhibit A as to how the 2020 Covid season was a total fluke.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:11 AM ^
Miami is bad, though in their slight defense they did line up for a 30-ish yard FG and their kicker just yanked it left. Like, they would have escaped against UVa, though they still looked awful on defense.
October 1st, 2021 at 10:35 PM ^
That was not an arrow route and they did not have it. These two are so fucking insufferably stupid.
October 1st, 2021 at 11:14 PM ^
Commiting six turnovers with most of the fourth still to be played is not good football.
October 1st, 2021 at 11:15 PM ^
Wow. Maryland getting their asses handed to them. Pretenders again.
October 1st, 2021 at 11:19 PM ^
I'm disappointed in myself for not betting a mortgage payment on this game.
Maryland + big game + at home + versus ranked opponent + we just passed the autumnal equinox + Maryland nearing being ranked + blackout + FS1 broadcast + Friday night = 50+ points for the opponent.
It happened in 2019, it happened tonight, and it will happen again in some future year.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:27 AM ^
That's an impressive list of facts/criteria that you have there. ?
October 1st, 2021 at 11:18 PM ^
16 just dodged some laps on Monday.
