Top 2021 QB's father's interview about how they feel about CFB race.  Comes right out and says what  most have been speculating of course.

Okay, having read the quotes the OP me at to link to:

“Here’s the hard truth about it,” Vandagriff’s dad Greg said. “One of the things with Brock, one of the criteria for him, he wants to win a championship. Not just win.”

“Whatever it is, we’re there to win it all. Playing travel baseball, we want to win a championship, not finish fourth or 12th. Early on he said dad ‘I want to go somewhere that can win a championship.’ I’m like Brock there are only six teams a year that can win a championship. Five every year and then a run off. The five in our opinion are Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and Oklahoma. Those five are there year in and year out.”

Yeah, it’s brutally honest & hard to argue.  Getting kids to realize that they can be the difference maker in getting a really good team over the hump to becoming a great one is a big part of selling any program not listed there. Some guys will relish the opportunity, others won’t.  That isn’t a knock on them, it just speaks to what’s important to them.  Best of luck to him playing for his home town team.  Maybe UM will get to face him as the 6th run off.

Yeah, I love that Georgia made that list but not LSU?  Wtf?

And I guess QB development isn’t on their list since Georgia QBs get worse every year they are on campus.

To be fair, there are some very good reasons to pick Georgia.  They are green, have pics of dead presidents on them and come in the form of a bag...

Do all the non athletes at Georgia get paid also?

So tired of the hand wringing and woe is me crap about how we are the only ones not hooking up athletes. We grabbed a #1 qb from Ole Miss and he sucked because our coaching sucks and our players aren't that committed to being champions.

But enjoy the trip this Spring guys while our fanbase laments the alleged money benefits football players at other schools are all getting.

If you don’t believe Georgia is paying players, then I have an Adidas contract for you - just give me small good faith deposit upfront and I will deposit the balance with your local church in poker chips.

Yes, Georgia is spreading the cash, their coaches are just too incompetent to do anything with the talent.

By the way, I have no problem with it.  The players deserve to be paid and the sooner Michigan fires the money cannon the better.  Hopefully Juwan has already started.

Then he'll be getting paid millions of dollars to live in a cold place? This line of argument comes up every time Michigan loses a kid to a better climate and it's pretty silly.

Also calling a kid a "pansy" is fucked up, but it's especially wack to be doing it b/c out of the many choices for where to go to school he's interested in living somewhere the weather is good. I grew up in Rochester, NY and lived in AA for 3 years. Winter isn't great! It's fine, but I also get going to UCLA or even LSU in January and being like fuck I'd like to do this instead of living somewhere the same brown snow is on the ground for 5 months and where if you go for a run outside your privates turn blue. Not mine, obviously, but a guy I know.

Then he will get paid a lot of money to play half of his games in New England, probably only a couple a year when its actually cold or snowy.

But for now, when he gets to choose where he not only plays football but also lives for three years, he can stay somewhere warm if he wants to.

Early on he said dad ‘I want to go somewhere that can win a championship.’ I’m like Brock there are only six teams a year that can win a championship. Five every year and then a run off. The five in our opinion are Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and Oklahoma. Those five are there year in and year out. Then there is a run off. Last year it was Notre Dame. This year it was LSU. Next year who knows.

I assume this is what OP is referring to

His dad sounds like he has questionable judgement. I'll bet this poor kid is not accostumed to taking constructive criticism or had many the opportunity to fail very often and learn how to deal with setbacks. The transition to college could be challenging.

Sounds like the dad is trying to start a bidding war among the dirty 5.  Good move on his part. He may get a new house out of it or a boat or both.
