Hoops recruiting: Bryce Hopkins, a PF from Oak Park, Illinois is trending in the crystal ball and futurecasts towards Kentucky. Ranked 33 in the country.
We had recently offered him after his decommittment from Louisville. He is from the same area as Isaiah Barnes, our first 2021 hoops commit.

If this were UKGoBlog - this would be very pertinent and exciting information

This is relevant how?
August 22nd, 2020 at 11:08 AM ^
I mean we did just recently offer him, but yeah not sure we were ever a big player with him

I said it in my post, hes from Oak Park, where another commit is from. Its also in Illinois, where Howard has a strong presence. He also recently decomitted from Louisville and Michigan offered right away. Not sure how this is not relevant.

Not for its own message thread, it isn't.

I think this was pretty expected
August 22nd, 2020 at 11:34 AM ^
Apparently not by our staff who recently gave him an offer.
August 22nd, 2020 at 11:37 AM ^
It was expected if Kentucky decided to offer. Which they did yesterday.

My bad guys, just an informative most. Wasn't meant to be a "sky is falling" or an "eternal sunshine" post.
August 22nd, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^
I think in general it's mostly agreed upon that you don't make a post about crystal balls unless they're for Michigan or if it's a guy that we're really in the mix for

From Louisville to UK, he must love the state.

No info on his height, weight, wingspan, blood type in title?

Kentucky also offered Hunter Sallis last night too. Another one of our more recent offers.

Deserves a separate thread, then. As is our new norm.

I know we wouldn’t likely turn down the #33 player overall. But with Tschetter at PF in this class of 4 commits, how many spots do we have in ‘21? 2 more if I recall correctly from earlier in the spring? And at what positions are we looking to bolster having gotten a commit at the 1,2,3 & 4? I’ll hang up and listen off air.

I think at least 2 more is a given, with 3 being possible depending on attrition and other factors. Center and SG would seem to be the likely choices for the two spots. I think there is some flexibility though depending on how good of a player we could get.

We have 1 spot for a center. Likely we will have 2 more spots, though that depends on what happens with Franz and Chaundee Brown. I suspect we will pursue a best available and a transfer with those scholarships. The best available will probably be a wing given who we're pursuing. No clue on the other
August 22nd, 2020 at 4:15 PM ^
2 or 3. Seems like we'll take a center then have 1 or 2 spots to take BPA
August 22nd, 2020 at 5:17 PM ^
Tschetter doesn't really project as a starter so I would ignore that commit as long as we still have space.

Oak Park, Illinois is a great place. Home of Frank Lloyd Wright and Earnest Hemingway. Stay at the Carleton of Oak Park and get a beer at Poor Phil's if you are in town.
(This is the most useful information in this thread)

This was pretty fun news from me. I'm from Oak Park, IL as well. I was in the same class with Iman Shumpert, who was a 5* recruit at the time who went to Georgia Tech. It was a pretty crazy time with the likes of Coach K and Williams coming up from NC to come see him play. This is the first time i've heard of another top recruit coming from my HS (OPRF) since then so pretty cool. I'd imagine the games between Wilson (OPRF) and Hopkins (Fenwick) to be pretty great, huge rival schools.

He put all of the information in the title, it has nothing to do with Michigan, and yet I still clicked on this. There's something seriously wrong with me.

Hemingway's hometown!
