Wasn't TW and Fisch only supposed to be here short term anyway? From when they got hired I always assumed they would be gone within a few years to pursue their professional aspirations and that this was temporary-get the propgram on the right track and head out on their career paths kind of situation. Seemed like there is no smoke here but people want to assume fire.

And I had to mute him a few months back because he's always engaging everyone that trolls him on a variety of topics from football to politics to whatever. I had enough of my Twitter feed being full of this type of shit every day or so. So I muted him, with the intention of unmuting him at a later time (after the shit posting ended). Anyway, I forgot to unmute his account which didn't occur to me until I read this post lol. Now, I think I'm just going to keep him muted. Not because of this topic, but because I don't look forward to reading 20 tweets of him arguing with random people anymore. Now, I figure if he has anything important to say, it will make it's way to a board. And look, it did! As for the news: Interesting if true but it won't be the first or last time a coach does this. I believe Urban Meyer bumped out a few of his guys too. It's the nature of the beast.

it's not shocking. Harbaugh is a great coach and if he feels something isn't up to championship caliber he's going to make a change and I respect that as sometimes a coach can be loyal to a fault and in the long run it hurts them.

Harbaugh is always looking for improvements and will make the changes he sees necessary. It doesn't mean the coaches he lets leave are poor coaches or wrong either, but not in sync with him and to be successful you all need to be on the same page.

I was never a fan of the supposed play-calling by committee.  Harbaugh is an offensive genius.  He needs to be calling the plays, plain and simple.  Drevno brings alot to the table, no doubt, but when you have Harbaugh -he calls the plays.

We didn't have the talent to win it all this year on offense, but the play-calling down the stretch definitely hurt us.

I do get the impression that Wheatley felt slighted and that's why he left.  Fisch actually got a better gig.

This sounds a bit false and like something finebaum would say to generate some buzz. I would not buy into it at all : offseason reckless news from Jive Turkeys.

activity to go on as long as we are not "champions", and even then, there's no guarantee with Harbaugh that any job is safe. But you know.....if you look at the numbers (they never lie)

Total Offense - #57

Total Passing offense - #77

Total rushing - #32

Total Defense - #1

Guess who kept their job?  It doesn't take too much to figure this one out. Honestly, the only head scratcher to me is the Drevno extension......And I'm not saying he's not worth it, but I don't know that he has exactly shown it yet. JMO

I'd bet this had something to do with it too . . .

I don't have the exact statistics, so I'll just estimate:

Total Offense - Not Lots of 4/5-star upperclassmen

Total Passing offense - Not Lots of 4/5-star upperclassmen

Total rushing - Not lots of 4/5 star-upperclassmen

Total Defense - Lots of 4/5 star-upperclassmen

Total Offense - Not Lots of 4/5-star upperclassmen

Total Passing offense - Not Lots of 4/5-star upperclassmen

Total rushing - Not lots of 4/5 star-upperclassmen

4/5 star upperclassmen:

Jake Butt

Mason Cole

Kyle Kalis

Erik Magnuson

De'veon Smith

Amarah Darboh

Over half the players on our offense were 4/5 star upperclassmen.

offensively we had 4 & 5 star talent......just most of them were on the bench because they weren't developed in years past......and same goes for the defense.

Kalis was a 5 star, Dawson was a high4 , Darboh a 4, drake harris a high 4, ..... The offense had talent, they just didn't develop that talent

You can always tell if a guy wanted to leave or was pushed out based on the new job he takes. If it isn't an upgrade, he was pushed. In addition for Wheatley, leaving his son made no sense to me

My guess is Wheatley may have

1. Wanted a raise.

2. Wanted a promotion

3. It wasn't coming as fast as he would have liked.

4. Wasn't thrilled about doing the whole 89 camps in 90 days thing again.

I could see Ffsch and Drevno possibly having differences as to the offense particularly later in the season. The offense was a bit predictable, egnigmatic, and didn't have the intimidation factor it should have had given all the offensive weapons. It seems the players did a slightly above average job, I might even say most didn't have the kind of seasons we all expected and there was no leader. For example:

Speight - Did well early-on struggled a bit late season (ability or play calling?). Serviceble not great toward the end of the season.

Butt - Didn't see the ball nearly enough and still got the hardware. Should have broke records.

Chesson - Definitely should have seen the ball more knowing his ability land given last years bowl game and late season play. Should have been All American.

Darbow -  Very consistent offensive weapon. Did his job but had a few drops. Can't complain.

Smith - Expected more from him., possibly offensive line issues and the same ol straight up the middle play calling.

Hill - The most consistent offensive weapon we had and he did his job well. Best plays called were for him.

Evans - Biggest bright spot and suprise of the season. Was a huge boost to running game and offense.

Peppers - The most underutilized offensive weapon in college football.  Needed to design more trick plays for him, not the same ol predictable ones. Cost him the Heisman. He could have been better than Woodson had we used him  as a decoy and dtsguised.and played him out of various looks to confuse the defense. What a waste!!!

I would have forced Fisch out too if he was calling and designing the plays. But Wheat and the RB's did their job and even shined despite the OL troubles.

From what I could always tell between Isaac and Wheatley was that there was some kind of friction. I saw Wheatley in an interview, Isaac walked by, Wheatley said some smart remark, Isaac walked away just shaking his head. Isaac was in the dog house in 2015 for whatever reason. Didn't see the field a lot this year. Maybe it's just me but I was wondering about this a lot. Plain and simple, Isaac gets yards. Why wouldn't you play him? Risk/reward is right. Speight and Rudock didn't get benched when they threw an interception. Why should a fumble or two throw it all away? Now obviously if you keep fumbling, you suck but whatever. If this were the case with Wheatly, well then you cant have that stupid shit going on. Isaac may be a little problematic but he is just a kid. I hope he plays next year and does really well with this group of good runningbacks. DMFJ is back too. Cant wait! No more blindly running into the line and missing holes.

My sources are telling me three things.
1) Michigan is playing football next year.

2) Harbaugh has a surprise down the road.

3) fill in bullshit here. The other two will be true and nobody will remember this part.

He blocked me for suggesting he shouldn't take criticism of his motives or sources personally.  I didn't even get my moneys worth, I was tyring to engage him in a reasonable conversation.  That's where I went wrong apparently.  LMAO

This guy is more senstaitive then the San Jose reporter that blocked half of UM twitter during the Harbaugh hiring saga.

When someone is being abusive and toxic block mute report away. That's not what happened here. He just didn't like the fact I wasn't immediately sympathetic to his hurt feels because posters had the audacity to question him. I wasn't following him anyway and was unaware of him until this thread went up. I posted the circumstances only to highlight how little it takes to have him go "nuclear" on twitter.

But just from the context of threads on here and the rampant speculation almost daily about Wheatley wanting to returning to the pro level, I never go the feeling his heart was in this gig.

I don't believe Wheatley wanted to leave the NFL. He was kinda forced out because the head coach he was working for abruptly left the team. The same guy got another head coaching position. Wheatley likes him and wants to rejoin him in the NFL. The guy must obviously like Wheatley too. Some people are calling it a questionable career move. Though they're disregarding the personal connection and the fact that Wheatley probably prefers being in the NFL.

They fulfilled their agreed upon 2 yr. commitment to serve as RB's coach and Passing game coordinator.... the real story is simple. Henson needs to create drama for effect. btw.... his cats names are source and sources.

Not to rip open a scab here but does anyone think it's possible that Najee Harris had an idea that he was leaving which was part of his hesitation and ultimately led to his Bama commitment? I know Harbaugh had some subtweets for the whole Webber situation.

Guys like Henson, and the entirety of the RCMB, thrive on unfounded rumors that can't be proven. Basically throw a bunch of shit on the wall and dare the opposition to disprove them. Since it's 100% impossible to know what negotiations/discussions Harbaugh and Wheatley had, Henson can drum up just about any theory he wants. Not surprisingly, the RCMB will cite a story like this by a "UM guy" like Henson as proof that Wheatley was "Harbaugh'd".

Go ahead, prove them wrong. They dare ya.

Henson seems to know a couple of people in the AD that leak him info, some of which is factually correct but a decent amount that is, at best, speculation.  I generally don't believe anything he says unless it comes with some level of specificity and/or timeliness (for example, the Fisch story doesn't come out until weeks later, coincidentally when Wheatley also left).  It might be his source(s) are late to the game, or he just makes stuff up.  But after all the crap he brought up toward the end of the Brandon/Hoke era, I am skeptical.
