I wouldn't be totally surprised if guys were told to look around, but I am always reticent to trust anything from Henson especially if it involves cloak-and-dagger issues such as coaches being relieved of duties and told to look elsewhere while (seemingly) still recruiting.

I refuse to believe that Harbaugh wanted Wheatley gone considering Wheatley was one of the best recruiters in UM history this year. Think he was like 4th ranked nationally. Why would Harbaugh want to lose that

Pushed them goes both ways...

Any good boss pushes for the people work for him or her to better themselves.

Harbaugh could've pushed them the same way he pushes for teams to draft or sign his players.

A push isn't always a bad thing. It could be "you've done all you can here and now I'm pushing to get you the next opportunity."

I was once an intern and my boss pushed me to a full-time job with benefits even though I was young, loyal, and didn't want to leave. He knew what was best for me and knew he wasn't going to be able to keep me down the road so he worked hard to see that I found a nice landing spot.

Not saying that's what happened here, but "push" is vague in this context...it could mean a number of things.

Harbaugh is a trust guy.  Takes time working with him before he promotes you to play calling duties.  I like the idea of accountability, but I also like the idea of continuity.  Hopefully he finds the right balance.

I hope for the best for Wheatley and Fisch as they climb the coaching ladder.  That being said, let's be honest here.  If we had a better O-line and were able to control games into the 4th quarter, there wouldn't be so much scrutiny on the play calling.  They were all handicapped by our personelle to some degree, which led to the frustration and tension between them.  Like they say, everything looks better when you are winning.

If true I'm totally good with it. I'm glad he's got a short leash on his staff. I love Wheatley and everything he means to the university and all the good work on the recruiting trail but if it wasn't a fit for Harbaugh then I'm glad to see he wasn't afraid to make an adjustment. Allowing a position coach to leave should never be a controversial thing if your head coach is a trusted guy with a successful track record. His judgement reigns supreme. I'm glad he's not satisfied because I don't think any of us were either.

Drevno has primary responsibility for the Oline and for the play calling.  Both were lackluster at best, yet Drevno gets retained.  Doesn't make sense to me.

WTF? Wheatley has been a pro coach and came here because his son signed and why not take the chance to help out the old alma mater and your son adjust to college life? Never was anything said about this being a lifetime gig-- I've always assumed that he would go back to the NFL sooner than later and try to make the eventual jump to pro coordinator, an impossible move for a college running back coach. Drevno is the o.c. and will continue to be. This whole thread is a bizarre exercise in unfounded speculation. Why think the worst when there's no evidence for that?

...he wants to coach...even though he's a great recruiter, he'd rather coach than be on the road all the time and pitching parents. NFL is a better fit for him. Period.

Regardless of how these departures came about, coach Harbaugh knocks replacement hires out of the park, so I am not worried in the least. I'm really looking forward to seeing who Harbaugh selects for RB coach. Getting pep Hamilton to replace Jeff Fisch was awesome. This staff is amazing. My anxiety from the Hoke years is practically gone. The future is bright.
