I don’t know much about the area Jones plays in but I live 15 minutes from where Groves plays and it’s not the best of high school football. They finished 3-7 last year. I’m not saying anything against Groves because he could be a talented player on a bad team because I don’t follow their team that closely. I will try and pay attention a little more this upcoming year however.

I tend to look at these recruits more of where they are ranked by position as opposed to where they are nationally. You can be a top 20 players as a cornerback and still be outside the top 300. If we land top 20 players at every position we recruit every year we will have the kids to compete at a high level.

Glad you mentioned that, and I absolutely do the same. Also, I tend to pay attention to offer sheets as well before looking at prospect's final composite rating.
I would glad take a three star with a strong offersheet and a top 20 positional ranking over a mid-30's ranked 4 star with an average P5 offer sheet.

Yes, the offer sheets are a good indicator as well. I would say especially if it involves multiple power 5 teams.

Getting early commitments like this and especially 4 star recruits reminds me of Harbaughs recruiting in his first 3 years. I noticed that this dropped off substantially the last three years and especially on defense. So far, his complete overhaul of the defensive staff has been EXCELLENT for recruiting. Now let's get some player DEVELOPMENT to go with it. In other words coaching.

Since we're on a roll, maybe we can go after Georgia 4* TE Holden Staes. He just decommited from PSU and was recruited pretty hard by Jay Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore.
