It's unfortunate that there won't be time to find a new AD before hiring a new football coach.

Warde has failed. It's that simple.  When Jim Hackett was the interim AD, he had a singular focus -- hire Jim Harbaugh.  Mission accomplished.

Hackett demonstrated the love the school had for Jim in a number of ways.

Warde has demonstrated that he is indifferent to Harbaugh and this is the result.

Warde failed his mission.  He needs to be cut loose.

This fucking sucks. This era and run were too short.

Hiring Moore, just feels like we'll be right back to above average B1G program. Losing Minter is a  massive loss too. It just seems like coaching is going to take a step back and recruiting will either be the same or worse. I'm not sure how to feel about the best era in Michigan football possibly ending.

Fuck, I'm sad. Thanks Jim for the title, but I'm sad

If I’m being honest, this is my concern as well. Losing Harbaugh + the best DC in college football is not a recipe for sustained success. Maybe it’s just paranoia because of how badly Howard has tanked the basketball program after Beilein left, but I’m legitimately worried about the wheels falling off.

I'm bitter

Just being honest

Winning was fun

We all know an in staff hire will never be the same, it never is, and we need someone to keep running and coordinating the amoeba defense.

Finally, now everyone can move on, get coaching staff finalized and get in with recruiting and spring ball.

Jim did what he said he was going to. Thanks coach

I heard the news listening to LA sports talk radio. I looked up the street and saw the Chargers Commons, a new shopping area in El Segundo. It’s basically a team store, a Raising Canes and a credit union with the charger logo on it.

Anyway, the sports talk guy used to do a Chargers show with Jim when Jim was coaching USD. He claimed he talked to some “Bacon” guy yesterday, couldn’t remember his first name but it wasn’t Kevin, and the Bacon guy said the charger move was inevitable, but don’t quote him.

I previously said I wouldn’t believe it even if Schefter reports it. So I guess I still don’t believe it, but I kind of wondered that if Jim had told Warde he was taking the job and that’s why they offered the immunity. Last ditch effort. Damn this sucks

Thank you, Coach! This Championship season has been everything any fan could have hoped for. My reasons for wanting you to stay were all selfish. Mostly I wanted to keep watching Sparty and Buckeye fans keep losing their shit over you each week. Seeing you live rent-free in their heads these past few years has been glorious. You will never buy another milk or steak or hamburger with all the fixins if I have anything to say about it. Now go get that Lombardi Trophy retire and come back here as a special advisor someday.

Are we going to ignore that the news was broke by a gambling site?

Schefter has run with false news a few times before and Underdog seems to be the source for everyone's confirmation

Cool story bro alert: I have a friend who works in athletics, and was at UM during the Beilein years...long story short.. he is no longer around UM but still has good friends in the athletic dept. It's been pretty common knowledge that there is some breakdown in the Warde and JH relationship, to the point the new president had to take over contract talks. Warde didn't even show up to the football banquet to support the team. It's also common knowledge that Warde is no where to be found in support of any of Michigan's non revenue  sports. To my surprise he claims Warde is also MIA with Juwan and the basketball program. Seeing as this was his hire, this one surprised me. So if he's not supporting our teams or negotiating contracts what IS he doing outside of having lunch with the jim stapleton's of the world. Warde should be fired. For one reason or another he has failed to keep Bakich, the Mel debacle, unable to keep Beilein here through retirement and now failing to keep JH here until he retires. You can argue counter points in all of those situations of course, but a better leader finds a way to make sure those guys have everything they want and need to run their programs in a way that benefits all.

He did everything he set out to do. I just didn't want the good times to end. Good luck Coach.

This makes me sad. My National Championship sweatshirt finally arrived today and I'm actually wearing it right now. Maybe I should just save it and never wear it because it's going to be a very long time before we win it all again.

I understand his reasons and everyone should chase their dream. If he wants to try to win a Super Bowl, more power to him. I just wish he was a coach who stayed at the college level and won and won and was happy with having that as his legacy. We'll never know what might have been if he had stayed, but I'm sure it's better than what's going to happen with him gone, for a while at least.

Honestly, I'm fine with it.

Thanks Jim for getting us back to the top and the NC, will always be grateful to you for that and wish you the best in your future endeavors.

I'm also fine to lose all the drama, annual looky-loo at the NFL where everyone has to focus on Jim and what he is going to do, the continual spectrum-ey behaviors and the

FWIW...I don't hold Warde accountable for any of this.....the President, Regents, et al, went to the mat to give him everything he wanted and he wants to win a Super Bowl more. Unless you have verifiable info that Warde was resistant or in any way obstructive, keep you "Fire Warde!" clamoring to yourself because it is based on pure speculation and only shows how little you know about being in a manager/leadership position.
