Harbaugh back according to Schefter

Jim Harbaugh called Michigan to inform the school that, despite interviewing with the Vikings today, he will be returning to school for the 2022 season, sources tell ESPN. Michigan was, in the words of one source, “elated” to get Harbaugh’s decision.

Gonna be some interesting blogging tonight!!!

An much as I'm happy for Michigan, I am somewhat disappointed for Harbaugh.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:37 PM ^
Very happy as long as we:
1. Give him Mel/Franklin contract
2. Make the buyout to leave quite high to show recruits Jim is serious about staying
3. Focus on 2022!

A wise person once said that 99% of the things you worry about in life never happen. Not so sure that is true, but it does make life much more enjoyable. Kinda glad I didn't send an email to the regents :)

He is just a few hours away from being beloved again. Simple framing, a few quotes, and something about actions speaking louder than words. We will all be eating out of his hand by Friday.

I’m sure some of you people will. And that’s fine, do you. But not me, I’m not forgetting this anytime soon.
February 2nd, 2022 at 8:08 PM ^
Do you - I will be cheering on Michigan football And our beloved head coach today and for years to come!

I have a great mental exercise I go through each time I find myself stressing or worrying about something... helps almost every time. 4 questions.
1) CAN I do something about it?
If no, don't worry about it. If yes, #2
2) Is it WORTH doing something about it?
If no, don't worry about it. If yes #3
3) Is now the RIGHT TIME to do something about it?
If no, address it when the timing is right, in the meantime don't worry about it. If yes #4
4) Am I doing everything I can to address it?
If yes, continue and don't worry about it. If no, then do what you can and then don't worry about it
In this case, I stopped at #1

Beat OSU at their place this year and no one will remember this saga
February 3rd, 2022 at 6:40 AM ^
I can't remember a time when both fan bases were simultaneously happy about a coaching decision pertaining to either UM or OSU. This next season is going to be pivotal to Harbaugh, either continue the success he had last year, or regress back to his mean average while at UM. Firmly in wait and see mode.

BACK IN BUSINESS…Beat Ohio!!
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:41 PM ^
Well now I feel dumb
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:49 PM ^
Me too, but whatever. Dude was fucking with my emotions.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:42 PM ^
Wait a minute here. You’re trying to tell me everyone who claimed it was a done deal or ‘obvious’ that he wanted out had absolutely no fucking clue what they were talking about? Who woulda thought . . .
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:44 PM ^
I think in a few weeks, this will basically be forgotten. If this is where he wants to be for good, and it sure sounds like that, it can put to rest any potential future speculation.
In a weird way, this may have been the best thing for Michigan. Harbaugh explored it, did the interview process, and it didn't work out. Maybe he decided he didn't want to leave, maybe the NFL didn't want him- who knows.
I cannot fault the dude for taking the interview. But now, he needs to basically put his foot down and say I'm done with looking at the NFL; I'm here, let's do this.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:45 PM ^
He must have read the Bo->A&M story on MGOBLOG.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:45 PM ^
Good. Im glad he's staying. Let's go!
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:45 PM ^
Vikings: So Jim, what terms are you asking for?
Jim: All personnel decisions and $10 million per year
Vikings: here is your plane ticket home
Jim (to Warde): they offered me a great deal but I have decided to stay at Michigan

It is possible that he swung for the fences with his conditions, thinking if they say yes, he'll take the job, but assumed they wouldn't say yes, and they didn't. Worth a shot.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:45 PM ^
I need a beer to settle down all of these emotional swings.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
Pretty tight of him to say all those "thank yous" and "goodbyes" just for being gone 2 days. Shows how close he is to the staff.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:54 PM ^
If that report is accurate, and have no clue that it is, another explanation is he thought he had the Vikings job sewn up when he didn't.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
When the wife says you're not going anywhere, you're not going anywhere.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:48 PM ^
I thought he was gone. I'm stoked he's staying!
Hopefully this will end the speculation and we can get down to the business of winning!
Jim Harbaugh is a terrific football coach - I'm happy we have him, still!
Go Blue!
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:49 PM ^
I don’t care how this went down. I’m just thrilled with the outcome. Welcome home Jim!
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:49 PM ^
This is great. I’m not sure which I would prefer. He comes back and acts like nothing was happening or he just acts like a complete lunatic and immediately sleeps over at a recruits house.

Washing that chunky crow down with some Milk!
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:52 PM ^
Harbaugh saw his shadow! 6 more years of Harbaugh!!!
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:55 PM ^
He didn’t get the offer. So now, he is forced to be our coach again. And people are legit happy that we now have a coach who would rather be elsewhere but is stuck here.
February 2nd, 2022 at 8:20 PM ^
Gasp! People are happy that UM doesnt have to go through a coaching search with no real good candidates and the National Coach of the Year is returning after leading the team to the Playoff!
None of us know what is going on in JH's head and where he would or wouldnt rather be.
February 2nd, 2022 at 8:22 PM ^
We are Michigan fans, this is what we get.
February 2nd, 2022 at 9:33 PM ^
He's not forced to do anything. He's made made more than enough money to retire comfortably any time he wants.
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:56 PM ^
Anybody think that the Vikings thought Harbaugh was just too weird for them? Lol
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:58 PM ^
I haz such a confused
February 2nd, 2022 at 7:58 PM ^
Good. He looked, either decided not to go or wasn't offered, and is now back. Hopefully for the long haul. Forward.
February 2nd, 2022 at 8:00 PM ^
I'm happy he's staying!
February 2nd, 2022 at 8:01 PM ^
I didn’t think he was going, then was convinced he was. This is great news, especially that this wouldn’t be a re-occurring issue. All the chips pushed to the middle, LET’S FUCKING GO!!!
February 2nd, 2022 at 8:09 PM ^
Let's overtake ass!
February 2nd, 2022 at 8:38 PM ^
That phrase you guys keep saying. It may not mean what you think it means.
Then again..
