Saw it in the theatres with my girlfriend.  Died laughing.  Also loved Bulletproof with Damon Wayans.

Those who do not appreciate Happy were probably just the wrong age when it came out.  I may be in the minority, but I enjoyed it more than Billy Madison, which I also loved.

But Tommy Boy was the king of the age for me.  That was the best, funniest movie of this type from this time, IMO.

Thanks for the reminder of how old I am now. 25 years ago? DAMN.

That movie is still in my rotation to this day. Probably watch it a few times a year.

Great movie, and right up there with Anchorman as being one of the most quotable movies of our time. I know some people absolutely hate it, but I think might be because they hate Sandler's style of comedy. In which case they're going to hate everything he does.

He kind of fell off a bit after Big Daddy, but he's had some good ones since then. I love Anger Management, which he did with Jack Nicholson. His character wasn't particularly funny, but the movie itself was hilarious. And then even his more recent stuff like Hubie Halloween was actually pretty good. Loved seeing him hark back to his glory days.

Adam Sandler had about as amazing of a 10 year run as one can have from 94 to 04 (Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, Big Daddy, 50 First Dates, Anger Management, Mr. Deeds).  Since that time, the movies have been mostly unwatchable with a few exceptions.

However, Happy Gilmore is still a gem in my eyes...."You play the ball where it f***ing lies!"

"You know the mista, mista lady? I think I killed her."

That line comes up in my house, pretty much every time my kids drop something.

That and, "Go to your home, ball! Are you too good for your home?!?"

After my divorce, I actually used the, "Oh she's dead, she fell off a cliff," line.  It absolutely froze the room.  Following it up with, "No, we just got divorced" did not lighten the mood much.  But a couple minutes later, we were all laughing.

Brian's terrible movies? He thinks Happy Gilmore is a terrible movie?? Many of Adam Sandler's movies are bad, but Happy Gilmore is hilarious!

Shooter: I eat pieces of sh$t like you for breakfast.

Happy: You eat pieces of sh$t for breakfast?

Shooter: uh... no... *walks away embarassed*

25 years and I still find it remarkable that a movie gained renown despite being based on a terribly inefficient athletic technique.

Running up to the golf ball eliminates the power achieved by the torque of a normal swing. (Well, not MY normal swing.)

It would be like basing a baseball comedy on a pitcher becoming a star by facing the plate and taking one step forward to throw.

Or like my idea as a little kid to run faster by taking quick small steps. (It doesn't work.)

Timely. I watched this with my 11yo son over the weekend (while Mom was gone). His first time seeing it. Predictably, he thought It was absolutely hilarious.
