The Louisville player should be kicked off the team for this. I have a zero tolerance policy for hitting women.

But Mr. Swayze is spot-on. I think we are slowly creeping towards a place where referring to someone as a female is no longer an insult. We are not there yet. People who still use this approach to insult are not malicious. I just think they are behind-the-times, and one day they will catch up. To the women who read and participate on this blog, I regret that you occasionally have to see things like this. The following is not an earth-shattering statement -- some of the greatest/toughest Michigan athletes and fans ever are women.

I mean it's both, right? It's like saying a dude "throws like a girl." That's meant as an insult to the dude, but it's also insulting to girls, assuming the dude can't throw well, motivating the insult in the first place.

I frankly don't view objecting to insulting Grayson Allen by calling him a woman as a great example of political correctness run amok, but we seem to live in times where it's hard to tell whether PC practitioners or their detractors are the more ardent zealots.

And this here is the crux of the matter. I totally agree with El Jeffe's point (and up voted him), but I still laughed at the Oracle's retort. i know it's not a particularly insightful idea, but I guess the line between appropriate/inappropriate can be very blurry.

His face wasn't a problem when he was arm-barring the guy.  Totally cheap attempt to get a foul called.

F Duke.

That "slap" was along the lines of Jonas Mouton's "punch" of the Notre Dame player that drew a suspension.  Allen deserves more of the Rod Sellers-Christian Laettner treatment.

No, Grayson Allen would not get the benefit of the doubt because he's made a career of dirty plays. That Louisville guy apparently did not and thus no one raised an eyebrow

Bad Boys? Jordan Rules? Championship. Seems like its ok to be dirty, so long as you play for "our" team. Otherwise, you're a bad person undeserving of sympathy. I think a lot of Grayson naysayers loved the Pistons of the 80s. That's fine. Just lol'ing at those same people attacking Allen. Doubt its even 50%, but you know those people are out there.

Does that count? Is hockey different than basketball? What about football? Can you be a super-physical football player, but not be dirty? Was Rick Mahorn or Bill Laimbeer physical, dirty, or both? I would say there is a difference between playing dirty and playing physical and aggressive. I would also say that there is a ton of gray area, no pun intended.
