Glad we dodged a bullet & didn't get Terrance Shannon.....

....for all those complaining about him being the missing piece...Shannon gets in deep ruts...no points in regulation against Texas and now 3 points all game in loss to power house Penn State.

Not saying, I wouldn't take him as another option on this Michigan roster but he is far from the instant next piece for a conference championship everyone suggested.

Another lesson from Penn State's beat down of the Illini in Champaign.......every team in the league (but probably Minnesota) can come on your court and beat you by 15.

So far he is a senior averaging 11 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in the BiG (almost as much as our sophmore 2 guard Kobe Bufkin).

I also think you could see some dissonance between him and the Mouth they have as a coach there.  Mark my words, his wheels look a little unhinged and some of that pre-season magic may not last over the tough Big Ten schedule.

The guys Shannon would be playing instead of are Dug McDaniel and whatever other guards

Shannon would be playing in Dug's spot?   Shannon is the last guy you want at the point (did you watch any of today's game as he sat there dribbling with the clock ticking to 0)... he was always the 2 guard that would play instead of Kobe or as a 3rd guard on the wing.  He is a fantastic athlete but seems to struggle with decision-making and apparently a coach yelling at him (not the best choice to go to Illinois).

also bashing the guy for no points in regulation against texas. he scored 4 on poor shooting. but fail to mention he dominated the OT by scoring 12 of the team's 17 points. texas scored only 10.

Penn State is 7-3, #33 in Kenpom, and by far the best 3PT shooting team in the B1G. But sure, they’re not very good because of how they’ve played the last few seasons. Good lord what a stupid post.

So you believe Shannon can't handle the pressure of playing a good 3 point shooting team? I had no choice but to mention the team that beat them today (and I did describe them as good), but I would think the slow-footed, suburban guards playing across from Shannon today would have let him shine if he is the transcendent player worshiped by this board.

I am writing a post about the fact that he has dropped from a guy putting up Playstation numbers pre-season to a guy who completely disappears over large portions of his first two B1G games and the Texas game in-between on the schedule.

Is this a mere blip or signs of bigger problems, seems like one could have an intelligent conversation about it rather than mocking the poster.

As for Jalen Pickett, he has done well as a distributor but he is a 29% outside shooter and struggles playing guys quicker than T-Will. Not sure what I should know about Pickett that excuses Shannon's complete no-show for a second straight regular time game.  In fact, Shannon was rarely on Pickett as he was chasing their 2 guard and wing as he does most nights.

This is me responding to your argument and remain one of the few in this discussion debating he merits of Shannon walks on water or not...and not attacking the person/poster.

Nebraska, Northwestern and Penn State basketball --- they're a combined 1-3 in NCAA tourney games in the last 20 years, the same combined record as the Directional Michigans --- all with road wins over ranked teams in just the past week.

You could have gotten some crazy long odds on that bet.  Deep conference this year.

Sorry for this poorly received post by me.  I am still learning the board etiquette particularly that this board considers nobody, with the possible exception of Cade McNamara, in higher regard than the great Terrance Shannon,  Just look at the open hostility of my raising the possibility that he was not the magic piece for Michigan and may be no greater a 2 guard than our own Kobe Bufkin.

Dude what? I don't think anyone has brought up Shannon in weeks besides maybe a post about "Wow, Terrance Shannon is playing well and would've been a nice piece on this team given it's flaws!"

I started a “Terrance Shannon is good” post after he nuked UCLA. His skill set would be welcome on this Michigan team. But it’s too early to anoint anyone. I do think he’s a really good player and Illinois is very good despite their losses. Talented teams/ players sometimes coast a bit.

Also, remember that our opinions about players we might have had can never get a complete sense of how an individual might thrive or not in different environments.

Those infinite variables include meshing with coaches, meshing with fellow players, development, different systems, comfort in that school generally, including friends, dates, classes.
