FS1 All-Access
Anyone else watching Illinois at Penn State on FS1? This all-access stuff is super annoying. My 65” TV has been transformed into a 50”. I just want to watch basketball. I don’t need to see Underwood and Chambers blowing gaskets.
Thoughts? Opinions?

No commercials and less commentary is kind of nice but I’d still rather have the whole screen. Unless dakich is commentating.

Nothing was worse than the game in Columbus where all the camera angles were from the floor. Literally unwatchable.

That’s another huge pet peeve of mine. Just give us the normal camera angle! Every time they switch it something happens and you’re left with a WTF.

It was a butt and crotch shot nonstop, and nothing else. Ugly game to watch and correct if I'm wrong but it was the first and last attempt at that.

That had to have been a bullshit excuse for something going wrong for tv crews/broadcast, right?! Because yes that was atrocious.

Sure Underwood and Chambers aren't exactly the best subjects, but I'm a big fan of the format. If for nothing else, I didn't see a single commercial in the last 8min of game time.

I get what they are trying to do --- FS1 did this for the Colorado/Oregon State game as well this past Saturday night.
But I wish there was an option on FoxSportsGo where the coaches weren't there. At least give me that choice, I'll stream that and project it to my TV.

I'm not a big "hate on and bitch and moan about literally every announcer" but for real, who would you rather listen to from the Fox company, broadcast a basketball game, than listen to 2 brutes in Chambers and Underwood from the sidelines?!

If the announcers annoy me, I have the option to put them on mute.
All I was saying is that I also want the option of not having 2 coaches taking up 25% of my screen. I didn't tune in this evening to watch them, I tuned in to watch the 10 guys on the court.

Yea edited the above, yea I get the loss of game on the screen. Sidenote, many of you say you can mute a game...I just can't do it. I need the game sound, even if suffering through Bardo or Jim Nantz. Though with a newborn at home, I may start understanding and appreciating how to do so!

That's the glory of surround sound. On most games (football and basketball) you can just turn the center channel all the way down, and all you get is the floor/court mics, rim mic, crowd noise, etc.. Announcers are totally muted.

Ugh this is true. At some point an upgrade will be made...a decent soundbar+sub is just that....decent.

The censors weren’t up to the task. Heard multiple F-Bombs from players during the timeouts. Overall, not a bad format to be used at times during the game.

I would be interested in hearing JH coach a game (we may against Nebraska). Tonight was ok all in all.

appeared to me that chambers did a helluva lot more coaching (at least talking) during the timeouts than underwood...not that it worked.

I like the access during the TO, but I don’t like the format during the game action. Not only does the screen get smaller, but I feel like the audio is really tough to pick up (crowd noise, multiple coaches screaming, plus PBP and color commentary), just too much.

A humblebrag would have been..... my 65” Samsung 4K QLED TV that my gorgeous wife bought with her $150+k salary because SHE was sick of watching UM football and basketball on a small, 42” TV.

I’m sure Izzo can’t wait to do this. Complaining about every call and telling his players they are “fucking stupid” while being mic’d up would be great for his program.

Izzo would be fun but only if his team were losing during the game. I might be able to withstand his insanity but not for an entire game.

I love it but I enjoy listening and learning from coaches almost as much as watching the game. I try to attend various practices whether at the HS or college level because I am trying to learn the game better and apply principles to my own teams. That is part of why I was such a fan of JB, sitting within hearing distance of his bench was better than most coaching clinics.
I don't know about Underwood, but Chambers is a terrible coach to mic up. He is a volcano of profanity. We sat near his bench for one game and I was glad I didn't bring my kids.

Only good thing was no commercials. Smaller screen on the court wasn't a big issues w me.
Negative is that it was overkill on keeping the coaches mic on 100%. After I few minutes, it was annoying and distracting. Didn't need to know what was going inside the huddle on all the timeouts.
The whole thing reminded me of the XFL, seems like a copy-cat thing.
