Friday WifeDay Weekend PosBANG

Submitted by The Fugitive on

It's Friday which means it's time to do the deed. Mount up!

Wifeday is tomorrow - what are you doing to appease their wishes (besides the aforementioned coitus)?

Can we not call it wifeday? It implies that we only prioritise our spouse when M isn't playing (not true for many of us of course) and plays into the casual sexism that has been discussed on and off. I get that it's a joke... It just isn't a good one. It's kinda lame. Like, funny in 1982, I get it, low hanging fruit and all, henpecked husband cliche/incompatible couple hilarity, but it's overplayed. A boring joke that ignores the female fans. Neg away, I know it's not a popular view.

from some of the female MGoBloggers about their significant others regarding this weekend?

Are they also Michigan football obsessed?

Do you have to do a Husband day for them this weekend?

You're really the only one putting a sexist spin on this.  Does it matter if we call it "Neglected Significant Other Day"?  This site is for Michigan-obsessed fans, and while an overly male dominated place (with an admittedly unnecessary amnount of casual sexism) the women members are repected, valueable members.  No one here cares about your color, your gender, your orientation, etc.

All we care about is your fandom!

It may be a lame old joke, but tthe flipside of this is that we realize we are Michigan sports fanatics, and that maybe there are people in our lives who put up with a lot of bullshit from us during the season and this is a way to celebrate that tolerance.

Not (just) that kind of ride.  Motorcycle ride, because the weather will be gorgeous and we won't have to worry about getting back in time for the game.  If it's a late season bye we sometimes use that as Pasty Day, because yes we're that Michigan that we make pasties.

But otherwise it's a normal week.  I still inflict lots of football and MGoBlog hilarity on my guy, and he still does his thing and spoils me wtih dinner.

I prioritize my wife 365 days a year minus three hours each on thirteen Saturdays (and still make exceptions for that with weddings and visiting her family hours away up north!). Forty hours a year out of 8760 is not asking too much.

My wife is thrilled about Wifeday. Not because she is a henpecking nag. She is excited because I am available for doing fun things with her without having to worry about being around a TV for football. Because she is awesome we are going on a pedal bike car through Ann Arbor tonight and surely going to be doing something great tomorrow.

It can still be Wifeday even if you are a female fan. You are not tied down to having to watch football either...so it is still your day. The "joke" also ignores single fans, homosexual male fans, or men with just girlfriends. If you cannot tell, I greatly dislike your comment.

Not the wife, even though I turned her into M fan, she is only of historical relevance now.

Much rather do the girlfriend, and taking auditions in Scottsdale tonight.  (Okay, I am an optimist!)

I predict we will still be undefeated after Saturday!

Actually, "Wife Day" this year falls on a Saturday when not too much is planned, so I'll probably just cook all day outside of the few things that we do need to do, like grocery shopping and so forth. Both of my kids have lessons for various things in the morning, so we drop them off, shop and then pick the kids up and still get home to catch much of the noon slate. This time, however, I will probably just casually watch while I do other things - after all, my wife discovered just the other night that the blank space on the "sports" calendar for this Saturday was not an accident.

Her alma mater is playing our local team, so we're tailgating the Clarion vs Edinboro game.

wanted to take the kids to a pumpkin patch tomorrow.  I said, sure, wanna go from 10am - 1.  She responded, if you do that we will not bother you for the rest of your day.

I'm still wearing my Michigan gear head to toe.  I will probably tell her they have a bye around dinner time.  I win!!!!!

I *think* she thinks Michigan plays a road game tomorrow so I'm going to hope she doesn't notice. Shhh. Just in case, I have planned apple picking and donuts tomorrow morning.

Can't wait for USC/Wazzu tonight...PAC12AfterDark is very good TV.

Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.
