So you prefer him to go? It's not like we brought in some amazing pg. We have no point guards on the roster. Why would he go? The judgement question I have is.. Juwan just brought him in a year ago. Why is he already done with him?

Ave if you say it's Frankie likely leaving, then this has nothing to do with Juwans judgement..

Could Frankie take a huge step next year? Sure. And if next year wasn't a win-now year, then I'd be happy to see how that goes. But as-is, Llewellyn gets the nod from me if it's a one-or-the-other decision. Shooting is needed more than anything on this roster. And Juwan probably isn't done yet. It's pretty clear his strategy isn't to coach up a guy for a couple years and hope to catch a group of guys on similar timelines to make a run. That was more of Beilein's thing. And he was great at it. But that's also what burnt him out, because he waited on guys to grow, but they were out the door as soon as they showed signs of growing. They didn't give him the extra time that he gave them, but that's how modern college basketball works, unfortunately. Juwan's going at it the other way -- more similar to blue bloods. Acquire as much talent as possible every year through recruiting, and see what it looks like on the court with a key transfer or two. A Mike Smith or Chaundee Brown can change things quickly. A Devante Jones, not so much. If next year doesn't pan out, he'll find a new crop. And if it does work out, he'll also find a new crop -- bc that's how elite college basketball works in 2022.

My issue is that it shouldn’t be an either/or situation. Both the new guy and Frankie should factor in to play a lot of minutes. We basically have them and Kobe as the guards. Maybe Jett can play the 2 as well. Barnes and the rest are threes and fours.

Would Juwan Howard be interested in well-traveled Chicago native Adam Miller who has played for the USA U-19 2021 world championship team, has gone from Illinois to LSU and into the transfer portal and might be capable of playing point guard for a team in the Big Ten?

If he brings in another transfer, then yes a roster player would have to transfer. Unless you're saying Diabate and Houstan have no home here once those undraftable grades come in.

There are holed in the roster because Coach Howard is still learning how to assemble a team.

I haven't read all the responses but this is very disappointing. I feel Collins doesn't trust JH will give him more minutes next year. This  kid probably feels he deserved more minutes this year watching how much Jones struggled for much of the season.

Even the MSU game at home this year after Jones got 2 early fouls, Collins came in played lights out. Then he barely saw the court in the 2nd half. I realize Martelli coached that game. But there are many games where he played well for a few minutes and never came back in the game. I'm sure it wears on a player.

Is it possible this isn’t basketball related, more NIL related?  Hunter came back because of NIL but perhaps there is only so much of it to go around the program. I don’t know if Juwan or the University will only allow so much money or so many endorsements for each player or as a team? This could be the politics TWill was referring to? Just speculating because this doesn’t seem to be a basketball move to me.

Yah implying this is due to politics does sound that this isn't about playing time or transfers. Unless kids these days have a different definition of politics.

Also from my understanding TWill and Coach JH are very tight and can't imagine TWill throwing any shade on Coach. So yah maybe it's something NIL related?

Is it possible he could walk this back and is just entering the portal as to beat the May 1st deadline? Just to keep his options open?

Maybe I'm a bit delusional here but I just can't wrap my head around why he would be leaving

What the hell man. I go off the grid for one freaking weekend and the bball team loses its backcourt. Hunter better just work cardio all offseason because he is basically the point player on this team now.
