I don’t think Hart would get the job, but his status as a legendary player and fan favorite would get him involved in the conversation and interview process.
Ultimately, I think (all based on Harbaugh leaving) they give the job to Moore and Hart gets promoted to OC/RBs coach. Newsome moves to OL and we go hire a TE coach. Wouldn’t rule out Kirk Campbell getting some sort of OC role as well (PGC or co-OC) with his prior OC experience.

I can see everything in your second paragraph happening. As for the first, hard to say, but I follow your reasoning.

I kinda agree with this assessment. One thing in Hart's favor, in line with your thought, is that he gets a longer leash to get 'his' program going. Because he is legit UM Royalty, on the same level as Harbaugh, where anyone else is not.
Nobody but Harbaugh survives 2020. That's what Royalty gets you...

So they found 4 who haven't met the fanbase.

Gonna be Candle and Sparty heads will explode

round 3...the rest of the mac coaches. miami of ohio I'm looking at you kid.

If they could somehow get Candle more power to them-though at this stage Toledo is the much better gig

Question 1: Do you enjoy masturbating?
…and I’ll see myself out…

Jonathan Smith has done an impressive job rebuilding Oregon State, but he's never coached or played east of the Mississippi. He has no recruiting ties in the Midwest. That makes him a gamble.
Jedd Fisch would be a good get, but defense is a question mark with him. Teams don't play much defense in the Pac-12, so he would need to bring on a top shelf defensive coordinator.
Jason Candle is who they would hire of everyone else said no. He's had a few good seasons at Toledo but nothing on his resume really jumps off the page. The only factor in his favor is that he probably has the deepest B1G recruiting ties of anyone else on the list.
Mike Elko would be a coup, but there's no way he picks MSU over TAMU.
November 18th, 2023 at 12:11 AM ^
I am ok with Elko to MSU. They play in a weaker ACC and some of the shine has worn off with recent losses.
November 18th, 2023 at 3:05 AM ^
He will follow the same path as Campbell and Allen. Get that next job while you can.
November 18th, 2023 at 12:47 AM ^
No, Jedd, NOOO!!!!
November 18th, 2023 at 12:58 AM ^
Jeff Fisch for UCLa or MSU... we need some allies in this despicable conference
November 18th, 2023 at 1:06 AM ^
Fuck Michigan State
November 18th, 2023 at 1:14 AM ^
I'd be pissed if Jedd took that job. He's turning Arizona into something and he'd do the same at MSU.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:11 AM ^
I really hate Jedd for MSU, but the more I think about it, maybe it would cool their jets a bit having someone coaching who’s been on our staff before and has no ill will towards us. Maybe culture-wise, Jedd is exactly what they need right now. Someone that Harbaugh can shake hands with after the game and have a conversation with and respect mutually. I would hate for MSU to get better on the field, but I wouldn’t mind them getting better off it.
November 18th, 2023 at 1:18 AM ^
Please not Smith or Fisch. Smith has done an unbelievable job at Oregon St. and I think would make them a perennial playoff contender (in the expanded playoff era).
November 18th, 2023 at 2:30 AM ^
Lol don't do it Jedd
November 18th, 2023 at 6:34 AM ^
I see now it's good to have friends coaching in the conference...then you can March to the commissioners door with pitchforks...I hope Jedd gets the job, he's a good and respectful friend of UM.
November 18th, 2023 at 6:56 AM ^
Cool? They probably think they have 4 home run candidates. lol.
November 18th, 2023 at 7:08 AM ^
Bad shit, Jed.
November 18th, 2023 at 7:37 AM ^
Sherrone Moore can easily outcoach this group for the next 5 years.
/s
November 18th, 2023 at 7:37 AM ^
Hope it's not Fisch because I like him. Although good for him if he wants it, I guess.
Those are all good choices. Sparty should be happy with any of those.
November 18th, 2023 at 8:15 AM ^
These are 4 names I sort of expected, so not a surprise. Smith would be a big signing for them given what he's done at Oregon St., but him and Elko could be options at better jobs as well. Elko might also just like Duke for now since there will be better openings in the future and he's probably going to keep chugging along with decent teams for a while. I still think Candle is the most likely guy because he's local but we'll see.
November 18th, 2023 at 8:28 AM ^
I doubt Sabin and 6 little Kirby like assistants could help that dumpster fire of a team.
November 18th, 2023 at 8:47 AM ^
The only coach should want to leave is the Toledo coach because its a step up in conference. Oregon State coach only makes sense if the money is that much better but I don't think MSU is a better job than Oregon State.
November 18th, 2023 at 9:12 AM ^
There's an article out listing Sparty's worst coaches ever. Tucker is nowhere on the list. Maybe he would make their best coaches list.

November 18th, 2023 at 9:13 AM ^
I'd prefer it weren't Fisch, as he has talent. But he might lower the temperature to half-sane levels?
November 18th, 2023 at 9:20 AM ^
That’s a handsome list of coaches
November 18th, 2023 at 10:07 AM ^
Bad shit, Jedd.
November 18th, 2023 at 10:46 AM ^
I thought Urbz had already been hired?
November 18th, 2023 at 11:49 AM ^
Candle is probably the most viable, the others are probably just using this as leverage for more money
November 18th, 2023 at 11:53 AM ^
most logical choice, recruiting, coaching, etc - would be Candle
Unless the Spartans blow it (out)
November 18th, 2023 at 1:18 PM ^
Elko won’t leave the south
Smith plays the part and Candle can bridge Ohio recruiting. Funny how reality hit and all those MSU fans thought they suddenly had $11-12m to offer are realizing “oh those were pledges and we may need to settle with the other coach.”
welcome back to $5-7m territory
