Iowa gets a td off a horrendous pass interference call in the end zone. Petras throws a ball about 5 yards out of the end zone but the defender yanks the receiver down and they call PI. We should boat race this team next week but with it being at Iowa who knows.

Is the uncatchable ball a thing anymore?  Iowa just got gifted a fresh set of downs inside the 2 because of it.  Some PI call that was already a meh call with the receiver more than likely falling on his own.

Perhaps Adrian Martinez was not the cause of Nebraska's problems in losing close games, but the reason they were even in those games in the first place.

Surely this can't be the Adrian Martinez from Nebraska, I thought watching Kansas State v Oklahoma. Seems like he's been playing college football for a decade.

Rutgers was driving and threw another interception. I hope JJ’s reeds are good next week because what Iowa lacks in athleticism, they make up in smarts. They are baiting this quarterback and he’s falling for it repeatedly.

Let’s hope we go on the road to Iowa and the plan isn’t to go to bed an hour early and wear compression socks! This is a game where you can’t turn the ball over.

I’ve decided to go with the theory that Rutgers is back to being Rutgers again, and that their allegedly stout defense was just a byproduct of (a) bad memories from last year and (b) bad competition this year.

In which case, I’m not nearly so worried about JJ making bad decisions on the road in Kinnick in his first road start.

(I could not be happier about the 11 AM CT start, even though it mucked with my travel logistics :) )

Michigan struggling a bit offensively against Maryland might help going against Iowa in that they'll have to seriously address some issues and not try to come into that game and attempt to assert physical dominance.  Michigan's defense is better than Rutgers's but they absolutely cannot get into a rock fight with them.  Edwards being back would be key.

Yeah, the concern offensively was they relied so heavily on Corum and struggled to hit the deep ball (save for the wide-open throw to Bell).  I don't think that's reproducible against better defenses so (a) you hope the offense can keep maturing with McCarthy and (b) gets back a couple of guys on the injury list like Edwards and (possibly) All.

When everyone was calling them overrated,  I was trying to be the voice of reason.

Ohio State, on average, gets better over the course of the season, more than any other team in the country. Including Bama.

The team that struggled against ND was not the team we were going to see.

I've said it before, if we played OSU in Game 1 every year...we would've won at least 4 or 5 more games over this stretch of 20 years.

They don't necessarily develop players better than anyone, but they often start slow and build better than anyone.

You just have to assume they'll be great...Michigan just has to grow as well and we'll be in the game, no question.

With all of the "new" on our team...I find it hard to believe that we're not going to get better.

I don't really get the ongoing presumption by people that Wisconsin is a good football team.  Look at the past 2+ years of football and I see a pretty mediocre team that beats up on bad West teams and otherwise can't really compete with anyone else.  Mertz in particular has been a complete mess and their offensive line has taken a dramatic step back.

They were a very good program 10-12 years ago. In their heyday under Bielema, with that offensive line and running backs like John Clay, Montee Ball and James White, they were a bunch of well-coached wooly mammoth forces to be reckoned with. Watching them run the same play over, and over, and over, against Michigan in 2010 and having stupid levels of success told you how good they were.

The 2011 team with Russell Wilson was the best Wisconsin team maybe ever, certainly of this millennium, and were it not for two late game bed-shittings against MSU and OSU, probably would’ve have played LSU for a national title. May have even won, too.

But lately, they are a castrated version of what they used to be. Very good defense, but an anemic offense with no identity that can’t even do well the thing that they’re historically known for doing well. If they played in the East, they’d be lucky to get to 7-5.

Whisky very well could be a 7-5 team this year on the West. They arent even in top 2 teams in that side very well could be 4th on that side by end of the year. Minny, Iowa and Illinois all look better right now. This win isn't the win it was 10 years ago for that TTDS. Maryland could be the 2nd best team in West this year.

A lot of top teams struggling today outside Michigan. Oklahoma in a dogfight with Adrian Martinez at home vs. Kansas State. Georgia looked sluggish against Kent State. Clemson barely beat Wake. Ole Miss bear Tulsa by one score. Penn State has a relatively uninspiring win against Central Michigan.

We don’t know yet exactly what Michigan is, but the sky isn’t falling.
