Those things aren't mutually incompatible.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:16 PM ^
Holy fuck….14 defensive points.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:17 PM ^
Lol another defensive score for Iowa
September 24th, 2022 at 8:17 PM ^
Iowa's defense scored again.
September 24th, 2022 at 9:06 PM ^
I saw the score and wondered…knew it couldn’t have been their offense lol
September 24th, 2022 at 8:17 PM ^
Another td for iowa!!! Defensive TD just to clarify.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:18 PM ^
Over/under 10 total offensive pts in the RUvIowa game
September 24th, 2022 at 8:19 PM ^
Iowa has 68 yards and 14 points. All points by defensive touchdowns
September 24th, 2022 at 8:20 PM ^
If Day were so inclined, I do think OSU could drop 100 tonight
September 24th, 2022 at 8:20 PM ^
Sacramento State 41, Colorado State 10 in Fort Collins. I wish we played literally anyone with a pulse, I feel like it hurt today.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:22 PM ^
These night games are not very intriguing
September 24th, 2022 at 8:23 PM ^
Midway through the 2nd quarter, Iowa has 62 yards of total offense while Rutgers has 132. And Iowa is up 14-3.
Classic.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
I see, so this game is playing out exactly as anticipated
September 24th, 2022 at 8:23 PM ^
Iowa’s defense is full of guys that are basically Eye Hole Man from Rick and Morty. Once you get the ball, they just smack the shit out of you until you cough it up.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:23 PM ^
Why is the Arkansas QB diving from four yards out? Lol what a crazy game this is already
September 24th, 2022 at 8:24 PM ^
Wisconsin has only given up 170 passing yards per game this year and I think OSU is going to surpass that in the first quarter.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
NIU and Kentucky tied at the half. Go Huskies!
September 24th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
Meanwhile, Kentucky is tied at the half with a 1-2 Northern Illinois team that doesn’t have Lombardi tonight.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:29 PM ^
Iowa and Rutgers are getting far too many first downs. I want more punts.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:31 PM ^
How concerned should we be about Iowa's defense? Yes, their offensive woes are obvious. But when your defense can do all the scoring for you...
September 24th, 2022 at 8:34 PM ^
This is a game for Captain Checkdown. Hopefully JJ can learn the Tao of Cade.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:33 PM ^
The biggest key to beating OSU was being able to bother Stroud…and he still threw for 394 yards. I don’t know if this year’s defense has it in them to do that. The offense is going to need to score A LOT of points.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:54 PM ^
i don't disagree with that, but we didn't bother old tua too much today. not optimistic about that game in november. lots of time in between, but we didn't look like a 'beat ohio in columbus' kind of team.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:33 PM ^
OSU is going to score over 50! Surprised that KSU is up 14-0’over OU.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:33 PM ^
Those shoes are sort of hot.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:34 PM ^
Death star looks fully operational
September 24th, 2022 at 8:34 PM ^
As much as Michigan struggled with Maryland, (even though I let my emotions get the best of me in the game thread) a win is a win! Looking around football this year, there have been a lot of upsets, two weeks ago the 6,7,8 teams lose, last week 11,12,13 lost. Today Miami lost to MTS and Kansas State is up 14 on Oklahoma. Georgia let Kent state score 22 points. Week to week anything can happen! God I love college football!
and of course anytime MSU loses it’s a great day!
September 24th, 2022 at 8:35 PM ^
Iowa scored intentionally!
September 24th, 2022 at 8:36 PM ^
Petras with a legitimate downfield bomb to set up a field goal. Iowa Defense 14, Iowa Offense 3, Rutgers 3.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:36 PM ^
Day really could drop 100 on Wisconsin tonight.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:37 PM ^
Judging by how this OSU game is going, Michigan has got a whole lot to fix if it hopes to even hang around with them. Much less beat them.
cost of time between now and the end of November, but I can’t help but feel like Otter from Animal House, when they enter that bar.
”We…..are gonna die.”
September 24th, 2022 at 8:41 PM ^
It’s no different than any other year since 2008. OSU will do their thing, I only worry about that game the week leading up to it, to many things can happen between now and then. Plus some teams just match up against other teams better! I think we dominate Iowa, Maryland I thought was a tougher matchup for us. I honestly think we will cruise till that last game of the year!
September 24th, 2022 at 9:00 PM ^
No way. We will not cruise to anything. Penn State is good. MSU, their QB will be pin point accurate. and there’s always the possibility of a good performance by someone we don’t expect coupled with an off day on our side.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:41 PM ^
Do you remember when OSU dropped 49 first-half points on MSU and looked like they could have scored 100 if they’d wanted?
Do you remember what happened the next week?
You just never know.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:43 PM ^
The week before we beat them 42-27 (in a game in which Michigan won 42-27), OSU annihilated MSU in a way that made everyone think the game that ended up being a 42-27 Michigan victory was a foregone conclusion.
Each week is its own game, its own roll of the dice.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:45 PM ^
To beat OSU you have to keep them in front of you and make them sustain drives and get consistent pressure because Stroud's footwork gets sloppy when he feels it coming. I think we have the secondary for the former but I am concerned about the latter.
And then just score a lot of points which I think is doable. Defense is better but it's not very good yet.
September 24th, 2022 at 10:34 PM ^
Michigan, based off what we’ve seen thus far, is going to have to generate pressure in that game by bringing help beyond its front four. Michigan was successful against OSU last year in large part because they had two first round talent game wreckers at DE who could generate pressure all by themselves. You didn’t have to rely on bringing help from elsewhere.
But the problem now is that if they want to bring help from elsewhere on the field, they will undoubtedly free more space up on the field for JSN, Harrison Jr., and the other onslaught of five star OSU WR talent to do its thing. So, what do you do?
1) Bring help, and hope someone can get to Stroud in time before he burns you with someone sprinting wide open across the middle?
2) Not bring help and hope like hell that someone in the front four can get to Stroud before one of his receivers has time to get open? In this case, He may have time to just sit back, wait for his guys to get open and just pick you apart.
Seems like a pick your poison situation. Hope Minter has some creative schemes dialed up just for this game, because Hutch and Ojabo ain’t walking through that door. And you hope that the OL can regain its dominant form and keep Stroud off the field.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:37 PM ^
To Wisconsins credit, they aren't playing offense, or defense, at all, so they're very consistent. They're aware the game has actually started, yes?
September 24th, 2022 at 8:37 PM ^
Oh hey volleyball won at Penn State in straight sets. That's unusual. One loss so far overall, 2-0 in the Big Ten.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:40 PM ^
I don’t see the need to torture yourself watching the OSU game. As soon as Wisconsin bumbled their way to a loss at home against Washington State two weeks ago, did anyone NOT expect OSU to do what they’re doing now?
September 24th, 2022 at 8:40 PM ^
Enough of the "competitive spirit" narrative from Herbie about Day. Had to mute again. Drivel fest on air with Herbie.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:42 PM ^
OSU's secondary is pretty bad. Mertz can't take advantage but guys get behind them pretty frequently.
September 24th, 2022 at 11:03 PM ^
Top 3 CBs are out.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:48 PM ^
Wisconsin is on the board.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:50 PM ^
Florida Atlantic and Willie Taggart are pushing around Purdue.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:51 PM ^
Purdue consistently feels like they should be better than they are. Down 6 to FAU. Oof.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:59 PM ^
Purdue is that team that blows its wad in one game. It gets all its good habits out in one night and annihilates a top-5 opponent one weekend, then shits the bed against Minnesota the next.
September 24th, 2022 at 9:08 PM ^
Yeah, I’ve never understood the Purdue’s and Indiana’s being so bad either. I mean, it’s one thing to get beat up by the upper echelons of the B1G…it’s something else entirely to get whooped by “lesser” schools altogether
September 24th, 2022 at 8:55 PM ^
Miyan Williams leveling up is annoying.
September 24th, 2022 at 8:57 PM ^
Iowa should punt on first down. They would score a lot more points with the defense on the field the whole game.
