If HD played like Chris Webber no UM fans would have this take. HD is most decidedly NOT Chris Webber.
Chris Webber is still my favorite UM player of all time, but Webber would not have won on this roster. Comparing Hunter to C-Webb is ludicrous. Maceo Baston? Maurice Taylor? He certainly played to their levels.
Hunter was one of the most dominant big men in a time when a dominant post game doesn't win alone. He's the best center we've had in 30 years. It's silly as hell to diss on his level of skill.
Look at all the more talented Duke 5s that came through and still didn't do anything for their much, much more loaded teams: Zion, Filipowski. Paolo, Bagley.
Shitting on Hunter's game because the players around him are subpar is ludicrous.
The game is reffed to where being a big guy in the post doesn't get the same amount of fouls as it should, etc.

Dug and Reed are going to be good next year. But yeah, if Kobe is gone (and in all likelihood, he is) this is going to a be a team that struggles. They'll be better than Ellerbe level though.

Shouldn't the seat get warmer if they all came back and the team was bad? Generally the seat is warm when you don't live up to expectations. When there's poor expectations, it just is what it is.
I would agree with that take, but if all 3 came back and they picked up a guard and a 4 in the portal, they'd probably have been a pretty solid (i.e. safely in the tournament) team. Now though, yikes. I agree with the above statement that this likely augurs Kobe not returning. Michigan could be one of the worst P5 teams in the country next year. Oof.

They won't get better than HD, Jett, and Kobe. Therefore, a team that missed the tourney will get worse.
Jett is addition by subtraction. Hunter is a loss but not as much as his hype would indicate, especially if Reed makes a sophomore leap.
Kobe would be the huge loss. Burnett isn't going to replace him adequately.
This team will need to replace every starter except Dug and the mess at the 4. Even if Reed was a one-for-one swap with HD and we get transfers to fill out the starters roles, we will have absolutely no bench. The idea of addition by subtraction is just dumb because losing quality or even middling players hurts our depth. The lack of quality depth is exactly what killed this year's team. Juwan couldn't sit Jett because his replacement was Will T or Joey B. HD and Kobe played nearly 40 minutes a game because the options behind them were nonexistent or poor quality players.
This team has a roster full of unplayable 3/4s; even if we get a full complement of decent starters through players improving or the portal, we will have no one to back them up.
