ESPN HORSE show and who would win Michigan HORSE?
In today's sports talk radio: That ESPN HORSE show was some real HORSE shit, wasn't it? Very poorly done IMO. Very boring. I don't know, maybe the 110 minutes of it that I didn't watch were exhilarating.
I think they should have made it had more of a legitimate live sporting event (even though they obviously can't really do it "live"). If they wanted to do interviews and talkie talkie then have a 30 minute pre-game show, do it up with a big music theme song, and have announcers analyzing the competition.
Oh well, that probably would suck, too.
Who would be the top contenders in a game of Michigan players (in their college days)? I'll stick with recent vintage myself:
#1 Stauskas and #2 Duncan. I don't know how debatable that really is. If dunking is allowed then GR3 has to be a big threat.
For the women's bracket...I'll be honest and say that I am not overly familiar with the players but someone else can enlighten us.
Glen Rice was, is, and will always be the only answer to this question.

Well said, tbit!

Stauskas would give Rice all he could handle. Would enjoy watching them battle it out.

Was fun watching Stauskas play in a Michigan uniform - but it wouldn't be close, Rice would kill him.
Glen Rice was so damn athletic. People forget that outside of the sweet 3 point jumper - and it was a jumper, he would get off the floor so high and quick - he also led the Big Ten in rebounding his sophomore year.
What a great journey he led for Michigan in 1989.

Glen Rice shot 51% from 3 over the whole 88-89 season. 25 ppg. Not bad.
There was a story in Miami when Rice held their private work out. That after hitting several 3 pointer in a row from the corner of the court. They asked him, is that all. Rice calmly went the the 2nd row in the stands and continued hitting 3 pointers.......
That was enough for Miami to draft him. Glen "I shoot like a GOD" Rice, hands down the best shooter for Michigan.
And as someone else pointed out, he was very athletic as well...............

I think you are right TBIT, that was clearly the first name that popped into my head also

It was awful. I turned it off after Mr Big Shot defeated Trae Young. So boring.

I agree, super lame. Players had little creativity and shot the same shots over and over such as bank free throws.

Katelynn Flaherty should be the hands-down favorite in the women's bracket.
Garde Thompson and Louis Bullock won't win the men's bracket, but should be invited to participate.

I should have put this in the OP:
Zavier Simpson could do some damage with a running hook shot.

I have 3 guys....Stauskas, Rice and Duncan Robinson

I thought it was pretty entertaining. Anyone who has played HORSE knows there will inevitably be those lulls where people are doing boring shots to keep control or everyone is missing their shots. The thing I really like about it is basically anyone can play. I'd love to see a HORSE tournament for All Star weekend or something. Put out a bunch of props. Get a mix of current players, old players, actors, kids, men, women, etc.

I liked it too. I only saw a couple of the match-ups, but all the players were funny and entertaining. I really like Trae Young and Chauncy Billups. I also got a kick out of the different backyard hoops. Trae Young had a pretty small driveway and what looked like one of those portable hoops that you get at Target or Dick's. And he only had like 2 shots--lefty free throw and behind the backboard. He was cracking me up.

For the last few weeks, I keep using the analogy that almost ever band or music artist that tried live-streaming a performance was like wanting to watch an NBA game, but instead seeing a player practicing free throws or playing HORSE. I was right. This was just a crappy as watching a lead singer from a band sing a few songs 'unplugged' in some crappy room in their house without the rest of the band.

I'm ashamed to admit that I was looking forward to this thing. Sweet sassy molassy it was boring. Just horribly done. Basically done on cheap webcams. Could ESPN not even send some decent camera options to each participant?
If that wasn't bad enough, there were commercials after every 4-6 shots.
It wasn't the webcams that was the problem. My guess is that because these guys were outside in their backyards or driveways - the connection to their wifi inside wasn't the best.
ESPN should have sent these players 5G Verizon hot spots/cradlepoints to connect their devices to outside.
I'm also guessing that the quality will be MUCH better on Thursday.

I was a little excited to watch it but it was BAD. However, this is coming from somebody who found the most exciting thing about the NBA this year was checking the Miami Heat box score every night.

Glen Mother Fuckin' Rice all day long!

Don't sleep on Jamal Crawford. He would have guys taking shots they've never put up before.

Yep, it took me two seconds to come up with Glenn Robinson and about ten more seconds to eliminate any real contenders.
Stauskas vs Rice
Am I wrong in thinking Jordan Poole would do well with this type of challenge?
Ricky Doyle
The Answer will ALWAYS be ANTOINE ‘THE JUDGE’ JOUBERT
Growing up near Detroit (Grosse Pointe) i heard all the crazy Antione "made up "stories from scoring 71 points in a high school game to beating NBA All Stars 1 v 1 at the age of 13.
Im sure Joubert could take a shot from Detroit and make a basket in Russia and it would be nothing but net .........
