Credit Illinois. They never gave up, managed to hang around and take an excellent team down at the end. Well coached, great effort. Nice game by Peters too. Took some big shots including on a critical run for a first down.

I’m surprised The Badgers lost to Illinois. No one talks about the Badger schedule though, including the talking heads. They had one road game against USF. It’s tough to win on the road. They still have Ohio, Nebraska, and Minnesota. I think they win one of those games.

The problem is that the Big10 played a bad non-conference schedule this year, and we have a bunch of really bad teams. OSU has played no one, Penn State has played no one, Minnesota has played no one... if you look at the top defensive teams in the country, the Big10 had 3 of the top 5 cominig into today, and I'd bet a kidney that stat says much more about how awful and outdated the offenses in this conference are than it does about the defenses.

Why is this not good for us? Everyone who wanted to use the 3rd quarter comeback the Illini mounted against us last week as a further sign that we are underperforming just got a data point that suggests the contrary. Illinois is clearly a better team than the one that lost to EMU this season.
