Yeah, yeah, FREEP link forgive me in advance. Edwards rushed for 257 yards on just 14 carries and three touchdowns before sitting out the final 10 minutes. I think Hart will have difficulty giving Haskins and Corum more carries than this kid next season.

His lateral quickness is something we have lacked for a long time going back to maybe Toussaint before he broke his leg?

Davison is a really good football school for the county(Genesee). Davison won states last year. Edwards is a very talented RB and will be demanding carries his first year, I think.

Fellow Genesee County born and raised blogger here, grew up in southeast Flint before the move down south.

Have met and became friends with a lot of Davison folks over the years, and I do forget the year but a buddy of mine invited me to the new Cardinals stadium when it got built (early 2000s?) and that entire town takes their football SERIOUSLY.

Great football city in my home state.

Sucks for Davison that their starting QB enrolled early at NW and didn’t play this game and they lose their best defensive player to an injury early in this game.

Might not have been enough to win the game, but those two playing the whole game would have at least made it much more interesting than it was.

WOW. We have the best RB room we’ve had since the early 2000s, IMO.
Let’s hope this young staff can convert our loaded skill position talent into production. Our offense should be top 10 for the first time since...ever?

We've had top RB commits in many years recently that just haven't panned out. Can't understand why but must assume it isn't just the fault of the RB. Here's hoping that 1) Edwards is just different and 2) we get the other issues sorted out so Edwards can do his thing. He legit looks amazing.

Not really, but even if it was, Mike Hart hasn’t done anything with Indiana’s backs to make me feel any more confident.

Indiana rushing ranks within the conference since Hart took the job there. Jay took over running backs at UM in the same year

2018: 35.7 rushes (12th), 157.3 ypg (9th), 4.4 ypc (7th) UM had 4.8 ypc for comparison.

2019: 35.7 rushes (10th), 130.8 ypg (12th), 3.7 ypc (11th) UM had 4.0 ypc for comparison.

2020: 34 rushes (11th), 111.8 ypg (12th) , 3.3 yards per carry (12th) UM had 4.6 ypc for comparison.

And Indiana’s feature back has actually had his yards per carry DECREASE yearly under Hart’s tutelage. I know everyone is excited about Hart, but the production just hasn’t been there.

Here's another Freep link describing Edwards' commitment and leadership. Pretty impressive.

“Easily hands down the most dedicated kid I've ever met,” (Jonathan Reyes, the head strength coach at Phyx Performance training facility in West Bloomfield) said. “He wants to be the best football player for the longest period of time possible."

That is a massive statement. Since 2009, Reyes has trained 248 college athletes, including 15 Division I football players.

“Nobody works harder than that kid,” Reyes said.

How? Corum and Haskins know the playbook. And Corum is no slouch of a running back either. I do see Edwards getting carries but he most likely is going to redshirt.

Edwards will play a lot next season. We've all seen highlight films of 5 star backs making one cut and outrunning the defense. Edwards is different. He's really explosive--seems to be at full speed after one or two strides. His knees seemingly touch his chin when he picks them up and lays them down. Plus, he plays with a ferocity that will hopefully infect his teammates who badly need it.
