His CB coach went to Georgia and most bama folks are convinced the coach was the only reason he didn’t end up in Tuscaloosa. I know there was smoke he liked Michigan but never bought it.  We don’t get these types or transfers.  We get more unknown guys with work ethic who end up playing well not former 5 stars.  He’ll end up at Georgia with the coach or bama.

Oh I’m really happy with the team but aside from EyabieOkie who was a unique story/situation that ended up in a one year rental, we haven’t gotten any 5 star transfers.  Our best transfers are low 3 star guys that developed and outgrew their pond.  5 star guys regardless have a different mentality/priorities in my opinion.  As it stands with Jackson I think Michigan has like a 10 percent chance and is probably 4th behind the two mentioned and another west coast powerhouse like say Oregon.

It's not BPONE. I had and shared 1st hand info at the time. I repeated before and after The Game in 2021 that Domani wasn't picking Michigan and, again, that was 1st hand info. He chose USC with Bama as his 2nd choice. UM was a distant 3rd.

As for the transfer, I already sent a text and will reply with whatever info I get (so long as they don't ask me to keep it private). That said, this person also told me *before and during the season* that Domani would have chosen Michigan "if he could do it again".

I'd make a very educated guess that if Michigan shows interest it'll become a likely landing spot but he is also very close with Williams. If UGA also shows interest due to Williams, that connection alone probably still wins out. Just a guess. The question is whether UGA (Smart) cares what Williams thinks as a talent evaluator. He was brought in to recruit and that doesn't always come with the power to pick players. Kirby comes from Saban and Saban is notorious for being the final filter on who Bama does and doesn't go after. Also, Bama is Bama. Saban is also kinda sorta the best DB coach in the history of CFB. That would would be hard to say no to a second time.

Another personal take is that he still needs a lot of work as a player and is why a new start is a good idea on his end. He'd get that coaching at Michigan, UGA, Bama and a bunch of other places. That's not special or unique but anywhere he goes he should have the personal mentality and be treated by that program like he's a RS FR. Yes, he was at a major program for the past couple years but his development and supporting cast at that school was mediocre (if we're being kind). They were void of defense and their offensive style didn't help his development.

I was replying to IMBlue2, but whatever...

Anywhoo, I don't discount what you wrote.  No doubt the kid needs work - we all saw exactly what coaching USC's defense was getting.  However, if his coaching was so bad, why would he follow Brown to UGA?  I have to suspect that Brown, the CB coach, didn't do much to teach him how to play.

I'm aware of who you replied to. I'm reply to that reply (at least in regard to Domani). If Bama and UGA show interest they'll be at least as likely as Michigan. I actually question what their interest would be due to their current depth and what you'd be getting (a talented guy that's still as raw as a freshman with 2 years left).

As for the other part, it's Williams he'd be following with UGA. Recruiting is about relationships and he would have a coach he loves there while technically being developed by Smart. Williams would be yelling and blowing the whistle with Smart's supervision and system, basically the Saban method.

As for Bama, you choose Bama for Saban and he almost did the first time. There isn't a guy with a better track record there than Saban. The question I'd have there if I'm Domani is whether Saban is there for two more years. Also, will I enjoy my time there while I learn?

With Michigan you get the best of both worlds, IMO. You get top notch DB coaching as well as a very good friend near you in a locker room that's second to none in the country as far as team cohesion and unity. Just my opinion.

But if all three want him I'm not sure I'd bet on one over any other. If the others dabble but UM goes all-in I'd bet on UM. Again, may have more info soon.

It's unfortunate that a lot of kids don't place value on having support and great team cohesion in the locker room.  I bet they assume they can find that anywhere.  To an extent, I agree, but there are some places where the team chemistry and unity are exemplary, and if you find a place like that, you shouldn't take that lightly.  On a football team and in the workplace.

Not true at all and a comically bad take. This has been done before by elite coaches (late Urban Meyer at Florida) but Saban is notorious for not being one of those guys.

He's probably the most hands-on scouting HC in the country. If you show him tape of a guy you love and he doesn't agree, he isn't recruited regardless of his ranking. The buck stops with him entirely. He gets 5 and 4 star guys because they tend to be the best but he's fully aware of which ones he goes after. Ranking services get more from him than the other way around. Over the years he has declined to recruit many 4 and 5 star guys because he didn't like their game felt they were overrated.

Just an awful take on your end.

This is a fair point and confirms to me that the OSU QB room is in a Lose/Lose situation right now because of the insanely high expectations they have (ie: Running McCord off after going 11-1 and not being he reason they lost to Michigan for the third straight time.

1) Stick with Brown and he doesn't live up to expectations = OSU fans griping about how they should have tapped into the portal

2) Pick up a portal QB and he doesn't live up to expectations = "Why didn't the staff have the faith to roll with Brown?"

3) Rely on Air Noland?

All in all, it's great to be a Michigan Wolverine, now, forever, and always.

I figured as much which seems to be the likelihood with these 5 star kids,  I had said previously good for him to get whatever money he can but if that’s his only objective then Michigan probably isn’t the answer and as a fan I wouldn’t want to see the locker room get blown up over paper chasers.

As a kid looking for the highest payday signing then transferring to the highest bidders could set you up for life. I cant get mad since there are millionaire admins making careers of their work.

I think when you see JJ, Don Edwards, Mikey, and all the other stories of Michigan players have it sounds like more fun and pays well. Im surprised 1 out of 10 5stars doesnt pick Michigan as you get paid well enough and its the most fun I see any football players having currently.

Winning, paid decently, amazing time, Top 5 NFL school

Recruiting should be so damn easy.
